Rating: Summary: Very good!! One of his best books. Review: This was a very good book. Well written and full of suspence
Rating: Summary: Grisham insults the reader's intelligence Review: The partner spoon feeds the reader with the actions of theprotagonist. The reader definitely stays the reader and is notallowed to become part of the action. No clues are given regarding the "dead" body, until Grisham says Viola'....He must have thought the reader would not have been able to follow simple plot lines, because there are few and feeble when presented. ^M Grisham needs to write for the fever in him, not for the money. He is capable...has done it before. Come back John.
Rating: Summary: A Fine Read, with a twist Review: It's another good read from Mr. Grisham. I read it in aboutthree days. He writes for people who like to read. I would have givenit a 10 but I think things fit too neatly for Lanigan. The ending was quite surprising. When is his next book due out?
Rating: Summary: Give Me More!!! Review: Excellent! I've read all of his books and this one is just asgood. Will they make a movie?? Probably. AbsolutlyEnjoyable!!
Rating: Summary: I read it in two days! Review: Not because it was hard to put down but it was so easy to read. All conversation and a few lines here and there telling a story. Thisbook sounds like Grisham had a deadline to meet, geared for the commercial list of best sellers. But I enjoyed the quick pace. I read the book more out of my curiosity as to how things would unravel. I loved the ending!! Had to be that way. Everything else just worked out too smoothly for Lanigan. I don't care about a sequel because I know how it will end.
Rating: Summary: Best Grisham book since A Time to Kill Review: This is one of Grisham's best books yet. He keeps you on theedge of your seat throughout the book and does not have a "copout" ending like most of his previous novels. ^M The detail and characters were very visual. I have read all of Grishams books, however, have been reluctant to purchase them because I hate his endings. This book has a great ending.^M ^M If you are looking for suspense with twists and turns this novel is for you.
Rating: Summary: A real disappointment! Review: I was expecting another great Grisham book but I was sodisappointed. It dragged on and on with absoulutely no zip.I was relieved when I had finished it. I want to read more like A Time to Kill--Definitely a winner!
Rating: Summary: Wait for the movie. Review: Well, it's another page-turner, but Grisham seems to bebecoming a better and better screenplay author as time goes by. Thestory will lend itself well to the big screen -- as Grisham himself is probably well aware -- but does not fare well on paper the way he has chosen to tell it. The story's main problem is not about plausibility or whether or not it is engaging -- Grisham's basic story, in "blurb" form, is appealing and quite clever. Rather than choosing to reveal the story in a coherent fashion, however, the twists and turns that make the tale interesting seem to have perplexed the author, who instead uses a technique that the reader recognizes for what it is -- a cop-out. Grisham can be a good storyteller, as we all know, but this time the story is laid out for us in the most uninteresting of ways: through long narratives by the key characters so we don't have to put it together for ourselves from clues. Grisham's inventiveness has not faded, but his writing may have. Perhaps it is time for him to turn to what it seems he is doing anyway: writing movies rather than books.
Rating: Summary: A Waste of Money! Review: This book is simply an outline of what could have been a prettygood read. Hey John, how about spending a little time doing someresearch? Give us some details about life on the run, changing identities, and ripping off a high-powered law firm. I saw where another reviewer suggested that Grisham write more than one book a year - it shouldn't be hard if he continues to bind his outlines in hard cover. A better idea would be for Grisham to spend two or three years researching and writing a really good book (like he did at the beginning), and build some goodwill among his devoted readers who have been so disappointed by his last half dozen yawners.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful read with enough plot twists to keep you guessing Review: John Grisham does a masterful job setting the reader into theheart of \an unfolding dilemna that faces the main character, Patrick Lanigan, in the op\ ening chapter of the book. From that point, the reader is guided through many\ twists and turns, that occur slowly and methodically. It is breath-taking to\ see if Patrick can extricate himself from what appears to be a hopeless situa\ tion. This plan is masterfully developed and presented in a very convincing m\ anner. Be prepared for a shocking ending.
