Review: This book is not one of Grisham's best, but I found it to be anenjoyable, interesting read. I really enjoyed the legal manueveringof Patrick and Eva (particularly Patrick's ease of getting the Federal charges dropped against him).I would recommend this book to anyone who loves to read John Grisham, but warn them that it's not the heart-stopping suspense we are all used to.

Summary: A quick, empty read
Review: This book is an empty, substance-less story more that would fitbetter on an NBC Movie of the Week than in a book. It takes too longto read a plot that goes nowhere fast! When Grisham does move the plot he does it interestingly, but he does it so slowly that it becomes predictable, dull, and downright boring. The only intelligence sets in during the last chapter when Grisham seems to wax philosophically. Other than that - wait for the movie that I'm sure will be coming soon!

Summary: Typical Grisham Escape-the-World Plotline
Review: Heartstopping excitement kept me glued to this book until thehalfway point. By this time I was a little bored with Patrick, and alittle bored with Grisham's fascination with escapism. Is that what he thinks he did when he left law for penning novels? However, the ending justified the drudgerous middle. Patrick got exactly what he deserved--a taste of himself. Perhaps now Grisham has dealt with his need for his protagonists to escape, and maybe next time he'll allow the character to stick it out in the real world.

Review: This book was absolutely amazing. Every night I didn't want togo to sleep, but instead I wanted to keep reading. Patrick was theman with the plan...for at least a little while!!!

Summary: Who are the Bad Guys here?
Review: Everybody wanted a piece of Patrick. The FBI wanted him forembezzlement, the State for murder, two insurance companies for fraud,his former law partners for money and revenge, and his former wife and her boyfriend for killing.

So who are the Bad Guys? Patrick, who apparently murdered a homeless person--or maybe a runaway teenager--in a prearranged blazing car accident? The FBI, who are subject to a lawsuit for torturing a prisoner? Patrick's law partners for creative bookkeeping efforts to make 90 million dollars disappear? All of the above?

John Grisham has a carefully crafted intricate plot in The Partner, one of his most controversial novels yet. There is less legal technical detail here than we find in many of his books; this makes for a fast read and entertaining chase scenes. Grisham wraps up The Partner with a somewhat unsatisfying denoument, as unsatisfying as, say,the ending of Rainmaker.

On the Grisham scale, Partner ranks far above The Chamber, but perhaps a bit below Runaway Jury and The client.

This was an overall good book.

It has the suspense that makes you not want to put it down.

The plot is great- A man who steals 90 million dollars from his law firm and dissapears.

I really didn't like the ending because it just stops. Anyway, it was one of his best.

Review: John Grisham is an excellent writer with frequent unexpectedtransitions. The plot of The Partner is not up to par with his otherwritings. The end is very predictable about half way through the book and it takes the excitement out of reading it. One finishes the book only to see if they were right or wrong.
