Summary: Looking for a quick, enjoyable read?
Review: The Partner by John Grisham is a book about a man named Patrick Lanigan. He is a partner in a sleazy law firm until one day he absconds with $90 million and flees the country to Canada, Europe and eventually Brazil where he lives for two years. This is the first book by John Grisham that I have read and I was definitely not disappointed. The plot grabs you from the very beginning and doesn't let you go until you know all of Patrick's secrets. Mr. Grisham does an excellent job of making the outrageous characters come to life. I highly recommend The Partner.

Summary: Somewhat predictable, but good nonetheless
Review: I enjoyed reading "The Partner". I, too, thought it was a little predictable by about page 100, but I still enjoyed reading how everything played out. I was a little upset by the ending, as well. The last Grisham novel I'd read before this was "A Painted House", and I thought it was a little boring, so I was glad to get back to reading what he does best...legal thrillers. His books make me want to quit working and go back to law school (even though I know that law isn't anything like his books portray it to be). I'd give the book one and a half thumbs up.

Summary: Good Grisham
Review: The Partner tells the story of Patrick Lanigan, an ex-partner at a firm who has been on the run for four and a half years after faking his own death in a car wreck and stealing $90 million from his law firm. The story picks up with Patrick being caught in Brazil, and the fun begins as the reader is slowly drawn into Lanigan's world, before and after his "death".

This is a strong novel, although not among Grisham's best. It's interesting to see the ways in which the legal system are manipulated, and which deals are struck and how, even if there is little doubt from a hundred pages on as to what kind of person Patrick is -- and therefore how the questions about his past are going to be answered. Patrick also seems a little too smart to be bought at face value (DNA tests of his daughter? bugging his own office?), but I guess novels are, at heart, romanicized reality at best. The Partner doesn't fully investigate everybody's fantasy of taking a vast amoung of money and running to an exotic locale, but it comes close. When all the facts are laid on the table, you'll wonder whether you would have done things any differently. And, as always, this Grisham is an easy and fast read.

Very enjoyable.

Summary: Why you should read THE PARTNER
Review: Patrick planned it for days. He disappeared and stole the 90 million dollars from his own firm. He watched his own funeral, and everyone thought he died in a car crash. He would get a new life, without any marriage or work problems. But it had come to the end. People headed by Stepano who were working for Benny, the client of the firm who would have received 60 million dollars of the money, and the life insurance companies who paid his wife Trudy, had found him in Brazil. He was being tutored and with all the pain they managed to get a name from him: Eva Miranda.

Eva knew that if Patrick didn't call, then he had been caught. She had to call the FBI and tell them that Patrick had been caught so they wouldn't kill him. She had to immediately start moving the money from different banks. She then bought a ticket out of the country and would have to watch her back.

I would definitely recommend this book to others. If you like mysteries, then you would definitely enjoy this book. It is very entertaining and interesting to read. It is a quick and interesting read. Although this might not be my favorite of the books I've read by John Grisham, it was still a great book.

Summary: wonderful.
Review: great suspense, fantastic plot, definitely a surprise ending, albeit not the happy one I'd envisioned, but still good nonetheless. he is such a great writer! not many people can keep you guessing the whole way through the book.

Summary: Four & a half stars
Review: This was my first Grisham read...and i was pretty impressed.
I think the only complaint i have would be the ending, as many before me have said. It left me dangling a little bit.
The book in general left me very impressed though. It was a very interesting turn of events the way the story started to move. I ready one person thought it was predictable, maybe for veteran Grisham readers? So, I have many more of Grisham's books on my shelves and i can't wait to start reading them!

Summary: Ploddy narrative with an implausible ending
Review: Let's face it. People read these books, not for the literary writing style, but for a good yarn. At least, that was the theory. Half way through I was sort of hooked, but frankly bored. The narrative moves too slowly to really keep your interest. I wanted to finish, but only because I don't like leaving novels half-read. Almost done, I thought at least I will be rewarded with a happy ending. But no, the twist in the tale, which Grisham probably felt was necessary after giving us dozens of un-subtle clues to all the other so-called "twists", was clumsy and ridiculous. No reason is given for why the person in question acts so contrary to what we know of them, so we are left with a big, "What? Why?" Very annoying and a waste of my time.

Summary: One of the best books I've ever read
Review: The Partner, where should i begin, i cant describe what this book is about in 1,000 words but I'll do my best at summarizing it for you. It is about a guy (Patrick) who steals 95 million dollars from his firm and runs for his life. After 5 years of evading the government he is finally caught, however that is just the beginning of the book, This book will keep you on the edge of your seat and you will not want to stop reading until you have finished. It will keep you guessing from Cover to Cover. It has so many twists and turns and if anyone could predict the ending to this book without someone telling them or reading ahead they are a genius. It is spellbounding and is definetely worth 7 dollars. One of Grishams best books ever, and i have read them all, If you have read all of the Grisham books you know that is saying a lot but it is true, I hope you found this review useful.

Summary: The Partner
Review: The Partner is perhaps the best book I have read in Grisham's amazing collection of books. The Partner is the most cleverly plotted, fast paced, surprising book that I have probably ever read. If you are thinking of not purchasing it because Grisham writes about law and lawyers, this book will undoubtedly surprise you. Buy it today, and I assure you that you'll not only like it, but you will LOVE it.

Summary: The ending needs some workout at the time of the film
Review: An attorney steals US$90 million from their partners, but is him a thief? As everything in life nothing is black and white and indeed Mr. Grisham does a superb work showing how in life nothing is what it seems in the surface. Granted, he relies to much in coincidence to explain parts of the plot, but what the hell, the reader knows it is buying a shallow work, not a Pulitzer Price masterpiece. So that sort of happy go lucky developments are to be expected.

In any case, the book provides what it offers, that is, a very interesting novel in which the reader is hooked to the book to see how the main character Patrick Lanigan, whether a crook or not, works his way out of the mess he and his girlfriend are in. Since the solutions are not made out of bullets, kicks and fists, but out of sheer strategy, it is almost impossible not to feel a large degree of emphaty with Lanigan.

Some people wonder why shall a "thief" be the hero of the novel. Well, (i) Lanigan just wants to beat the system (a very strong need in all of us) and (ii) most of his actions are oriented towards self defense against other persons who are essentially dishonest.

However, the last two pages of the book are not really necessary, they do not make the plot smarter, are difficult to encopass with the smart personality of Mr. Lannigan, and are not made for this type of novels. They are a BIG mistake by the author.
