Summary: A burger without the onions!
Review: A mouthful to be sure. But alas, nary a kick to the palate. John Grisham has forsaken tension for cleverness. This book is actually in reverse, with the climactic scenes at the beginning. But then again, perhaps this is the first draft of the sreenplay for the hit movie starring.....oh I don't know.....maybe....John Grisham? By the way, the two pages outlining the story of Clovis are by far the most entertaining part of the book.

Summary: Hope for a part 2 to find Eva
Review: When did a cheesy lawyer in a firm become a perfectionist in the art of spying? Where did he get all of the money to run all of the surveliance that he did. Maybe Eva left because her father could have been killed over money.

Summary: An incredible plot, perfectly described...wonderful!
Review: I've read several of Mr. Grisham's books, each better than the last. I've also seen several films based on his stories. I place his work in the same range as Stephen King and Dean Koontz, which is the highest compliment I can pay an author. I was so thoroughly delighted with The Partner that I felt compelled to write to the author, which is something I've never done before, but did this time. This novel is perfection. I am in awe of John Grisham's talent. I fail to see the arrogance and gold-digging aspect of his personality that other reviewers have mentioned. He seems like a genuinely nice guy who cares about regular, everyday people. What more can one ask?

Summary: Like reading "then what happened?" after THE FIRM, but.....
Review: I love John Grisham.....he always provides such a satisfying escape from real life. His characters are interesting, even if we keep meeting the same ones over and over again in different permutations in each book. I was mostly engrossed throughout the book, but lost track of the "bad guys"...there were so many! And, I kept expecting the guys from THE FIRM to show up. Please, Mr. Grisham, you didn't HAVE to give us such a lame ending...I saw it coming 75 pages from the end. Nonetheless, I'm ordering my copy of STREET LAWYER as soon as I finish sharing my sage thoughts herein. sbrannan

Summary: Pretty Good
Review: I thought this book was rather intruiging until the end. I don't know what happened there.

Summary: Good all the way ... until the end.
Review: I thoroughly enjoyed this book...until the end. When I started the book, I couldn't put it down. I had to force myself to do the everyday stuff. I found it to be intriguing and exciting. When I got to the last few pages... How could John do this to us?

Summary: This book was weak.
Review: The Partner was a weak book. I've read only one other Grisham book and that was The Rainmaker. And it was because that book was so good that I got The Partner. The book starts off well but then begins to slide. The unplausibilities start to build up and by the half-way point the book is an utterly awful mess. Grisham builds no tension in the book and the way that the problems are handled are just too easy of a way to slide through a book. The ending was hardly a surprise.

Summary: Typically Grisham
Review: As with other JG's books, I have found it an enjoyable read. However, I take exception to the implication that Malta does not take a serious view of fraudulent transfers of money. As a Maltese banker, let me assure you that we employ very high ethics and that financial legislation is very highly evolved

Summary: It deteriorated somewhere past the half way mark.
Review: Marvelously intriguing for the first 100 or so pages. Grisham dropped the ball and then there were "gaps" and "holes" in the plot. In the 3rd quarter after too much of Patrick's superhuman abilities of second guessing and one-up-manship, my admiration diminished (both of him and of the plot). The ending was abrupt but somewhat satisfying.I did like the book.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Hard to believe, with a poor ending
Review: This is my first book of John Grisham and I must say: "John, do you really think anything like this can actually happen?". It's not that I want every book I read to be of precise realism, but from Death Row to Dead Body Mutilation ????. Even though we cannot punish lawyers from a more general standpoint for their role on our society, at least the character gets part of what he deserves. Another story is that the conclusion was expected almost 50 pages before the ending. Overall, I would have enjoyed more the book if I had not paid for it.
