Rating: Summary: Unique Plot Time-Line Creates Another Successful Effort Review: THE PARTNER starts out with the hair-raising torture of a thief who has been in hiding for four years. He stole millions of dollars, and people want their money back. So Grisham toys with us; we suspect we're supposed to identify with the thief, but we do so uncomfortably, as we discover he has apparently deceived his partners, and maybe even killed a man, in order to steal close to a hundred million dollars. But as this protaganist fights against formidable odds, Grisham tells the story of the theft, and our comfort level returns. This Grisham hero is similar to others; he is a smart young attorney forced into extraordinary actions by the corruption and malevolence surrounding him. THE PARTNER is one of my favorite Grisham novels because of the way Grisham turns the scenario upside down. We first see the effect of the young attorney's battle against corruption - the cause unravels as the novel unfolds. This makes THE PARTNER one of Grisham's most clever novels, maybe even his best.
Rating: Summary: Any Grisham fan would like this book Review: The reader has to appreciate the way this book unravels perfectly down to the last detail while still allowing the story to be plausible. The last few pages provide a final twist that give new meaning to the title.
Rating: Summary: The best in a while Review: Grisham leaves the eidtorializing and produces a book reminding the reader of the originality of his first novels.
Rating: Summary: A teriffic twist Review: John Grisham is a wonderful author with many good ideas. This was another example of those ideas and I would like to comment on the end of the novel. The twist was great. This book does not surpass "The Client" though. I recomend this book for anybody who likes to read.
Rating: Summary: Fantastic! Review: John Grisham has done it again....capturing his readers heart with 'The Partner'. It was very interesting and quite amusing to me as how Patrick managed to get his way in the end. Get your copy today.....you won't be dissapointed. ; )
Rating: Summary: A breathtaking, twisting, and exciteing thriller. Review: The Partner is one huge book. What I mean by huge is like when you think nothing else can possibly happen, John Grisham just keeps making the thriller, even more thrilling. The action never stops. When a man steals 90 million dollars and fakes his own death and hides for a long time. The thriller never really starts until he is found. The way Grisham writes, I can automatically tell it's going to be a movie. How when the man is tortured and put into a hospital, and becomes friends with the judge of his trial. But, where the first one ends up dead, something looks fishy. But nothing is as shocking, thrilling, breathtaking, exciteing as the big finally. And something is wrong........
Rating: Summary: I highly recommend this book. Review: I too was mesmerized by Mr. Grisham's writing and found I could not put the book down. Mr. Grisham developed Patrick into a mysterious genious. Patrick knew the system cold and played everyone like fine instruments. I loved how Patrick anticipated each move and set up a counter move well in advance. The ending disturbed me though. Patrick would not have missed those details.
Rating: Summary: This novel is a superbly crafted mystery. Review: John Grisham's "The Partner " is undoubtedly on of his very best works. The novel centers on the crafty character of Biloxi lawyer Patrick Lanigan. Noone can figure out why this seemingly content attorney, husband, and father faked his death, stole ninety million dollars from his own law firm, and ran for his life. But he did. In an almost ingenious manner, Patrick Lanigan was gone, lost without a trace, and so was his firm's money. Then, one day, he is discovered. The ordeal that he ensues next is a tortuous one in which Patrick has anticipated for almost four years. Grisham then takes us on a sheer roller coaster of events in which Patrick Lanigan returns to his hometown to face the music. He must confront his scheming, greedy wife, Trudy, her dim - witted lover Lance, and a whole other entourage of wild characters who add more fun to the mix. You will marvel at the way that Patrick masterminds his way through the legal system, meticulously plotting his each and every move. The twists and turns in this novel are amazing ; one minute we think Patrick is a monster and the next we laugh at his clever and zany ways to manipulate the system. One thing is for certain : if you are a John Grisham fan as I am, you will have trouble putting this book down even for a moment.
Rating: Summary: Not Too Bad..Really Review: The book started off great but faltered towards the end. And the incredible...almost genius way Patrick pulled his stunt was quite simply a bit too unbelievable for me.It relied too much on coincidence and good luck. Nevertheless, it was a good read.
Rating: Summary: the best grisham I read so far Review: Usually , I find Grisham's books very simillar and there is nothing new . those who like his books will keep reading and those who don't like him know why the do so . but this book is different , it is much more interesting than those I read in the past and it keeps you in tense along the reading to the surprising end . if only the end was a little more detailed the book would have gotten a better mark from me !
