Summary: Very intreguing, delicately introduced but slow ending
Review: Another masterpiece! Outstanding opening pages with lots of action and suspense, Grishman creates a real thriller. We become one with the characters. The first few chapters of the main character being tortured is amazing. I can't give it 5 stars because of the poor ending. I think it could have been more dramatic or entertaining. It wasn't a terrible ending but needed a little more spice in it. Sure, he got a taste of his own medicine but needed more conflict. Don't get me wrong, it was a great book but needs a stronger ending. I would definitely recommend it.

Summary: The Best Ever..!
Review: "The Partner" is Grisham at his best. Patrick's planning was just too meticulous. I agree with a fellow reader's comment on how Grisham himself must be scheming his life.. (just kidding.. no matter what you sceme Mr. Grisham just have writing books in your agenda..!) But a lesson must be learnt, and that is don't ever let go of all your knowledge like Patrick did. Patrick's lady love learnt from her master and betrayed her master him self giving him a taste of his own medicine. Everything about this book was excellent..!

Summary: Another home run by Grisham!
Review: The eighth novel from John Grisham lives up to the standards set by the last seven, but in a different style. This book goes about setting up and drawing you into its plot in a much more relaxed way. The suspense is still there, but just isn't as pressing. It starts with enough of a pull to keep you interested and then gradually draws you farther and farther in until the book comes to an end. This book was full of twists and turns that aren't necessarily surprising, but rather clever. I think that the book does an exceptional job of posing foreseeable problems and solving them in a very unforeseeable way. The plot of the book was very easy to follow which helped to hold my interest even more. This book was very entertaining in the way that you never saw what was coming. It is comparable to Grisham's others but without the high level of suspense and action. If you are looking for a book that is fun to read and will hold your interest, than The Partner is a great one to pick up.

Summary: Totally amazing....
Review: This was the best Grisham book I've ever read, (and I've read all of them, working on The Testament now) I just love it, great storyline, stunning detail and a fantastic twist at the end. If you're not a Grisham lover you'll be totally hooked when you've read this. Read the whole thing in one sitting, I loved it!

Summary: Once you start reading The Partner you're hooked.
Review: Definitely one of Grisham's best. I didn't think I'd read a book better than The Firm, but what a fantastic read. The story was full of suspense and it was impossible to predict the ending. I was tempted so many times to read the last couple of pages because the suspense was killing me, but I resisted. Glad I did because the twist at the end was fantastic. Well done John!

Summary: Compelling drama until the last page!
Review: This is a terrific read until the last page! I hated the surprise ending but the books still was so good I did not want it to end. I wish he would rewrite the ending and about 500 more pages of follow-up!

Summary: John Grisham recaptures the stamina we love so much
Review: John Grisham has recaptured the old magic that we love so much in his book The Partner. We instantly fall in love with his character Patrick and cannot help but be completely enthralled in his story until the last page. Many critics have argued against the twist at the end of the novel, but this only adds a nice little sense of bittersweetness to the title. It actually makes you think what Grisham actually had in mind when he titled this book. The Partner is the story of a man who had it all, and gave it up for 900 million dollars. At least this is what we were lead to believe in the beginning. Soon we discover all the extraneous circumstances that lead Patrick to take part in the most notorious crime the Southern states have ever seen. Patrick has only a matter of a few weeks to prove his innocence, and to keep the love of his friend, Eva. Will Patrick do it? Can he be kept away from jail and still manage to keep the money? Read the book and you'll find out!

Summary: This plot grabs you and doesn't let go!
Review: Although I'd read this book well over a year ago, I still remember the thrill of turning each and every page. This is the best Grisham book to date and I've read them all and will continue to read his books until the day he puts his pen down...heaven forbid! I can't say enough great things about this book. I recommend it to everyone. At work, several people have read it and we still discuss the book to this day. Way to go, John. Looking forward to your next one as always!

Summary: Excellent book but wait for the sequel.
Review: What a great novel, but the end disapointed me. What happend to Patrick? Did he get his money back? "Dear Mr. Grisham....Please finish the story!"

Summary: Oh Gosh, I could just cry!
Review: On page 338, our main character uses the words "it's all in the planning..." Mostly, I agree! The planning it took to make this book makes me wonder just what Grisham has scheming secretly in real life! His story, as usual, was flawless and tied every single loose end.

Well ... almost.

Because, if anything, the actual conclusion was itself a loose end! One of the critics uses the phrase "bitter sweet" to describe the ending, and he's right! The book was excellent, with twists like none I've ever seen and vengeance with a vengeance that was more than poetic justice! But I wanted to scream at the ending! Finally though, I resorted to something resembling a sob-sigh hybrid, and broke down to regretful acceptance.

Another review on this page says there should be a sequel. I could not agree more! Let's start a petition! Still though, the story is flawless and delivers like an atomic explosion in slow motion. The characters are frighteningly serious, and the powerplay is intriguing and (sometimes) amusing. All things cosidered, THE PARTNER made for a satisfying read. I WOULDN'T NOT recommend it. (Got that?)
