Rating: Summary: FOURTH AND LAST Review: This was my fourth and last John Grisham book. It began well enough with the hero being tortured in a South American jungle by God-knows-who. But my desire to know more about this character quickly dissolved. Like all of Grisham's characters, this one, too, was not only cliched, but mega-stupid (a la Darby Shaw in The Pelican Brief who used her credit card, for God's sake when she was being followed). The ending alone proved that. Why in the world any man with even a modicum of intelligence would ever want to see THAT witch again is beyond me. Grisham treats us likes he's writing to five-year olds and I, for one, don't like it. Goodbye, John Grisham and good riddance!
Rating: Summary: Delightful Irony! Review: Grisham's The Partner is a fast- paced page turner from page one. I don't understand what all the fuss is about the surprize ending. Is an ending only satisfying if it's acrording to OUR expectations? The powerful force of greed reigns to the very last page.
Rating: Summary: Totally Awesome! Review: This book was great. It taunts you with little mysteries right up to the climax, at which the big mystery is solved. The ending leaves you kind of cold, but its better than the stupid hapily ever after, guy-gets-the-girl ending.
Rating: Summary: What a letdown. . . ! Review: I started this book with fervor and hunger and ended with a "toss out the window" of the book and a vow to find a new author to follow. In his haste to complete this book John Grisham forgot that readers are not dummies and that we expect the author to be true to his characters and his audience. After reading this book, I've taken a long pause from Grisham. . .
Rating: Summary: The Partner Review: Overall, an O.K. book. But, it's a great book report book if you want to impress your teacher.
Rating: Summary: The Partner Review: The Partner was another great novel of John Grisham. I rate this novel of his the highest because he doesn't center the book around the courtroom like he did in The Chamber. This book was full of action, yet covered the legal aspects which is a trait John Grisham brings out in all of his books. I reccommend this book to everyone because it is interesting and exciting.
Rating: Summary: Formula Writing At Its Worst Review: The Partner is formula writing at its worst. Throw in a hero, the requisite bad guys, the requisite romance, and bingo...another bestseller. Only this bestseller has a long way to go. The beginning was intriguing and I thought Grisham was finally going to get it right. But the book lost steam with every page and the ending was the biggest letdown in any book I've ever read. Formula writing CAN be superb...a la Mary Higgins Clark..but Grisham just doesn't click.
Rating: Summary: The Partner Review Review: The Partner is engrossing throughout. The beginning is gripping and one cannot begin to put it down until the end is complete. However, I felt compelled to share my frustration at the book's ending. I was so looking forward to the hero cashing in on the good life after perservering a living hell on earth only to be truly disappointed with the heroine's callousness! Other than the twisted ending, the book is a must read!
Rating: Summary: The ending completed the perfect book! Review: This was my first John Grisham book and I have to say that it was the absolute best book I have ever read. I think that the ending made the book and it left me with the feeling that he wrote it just as it should have been written..It was a perfect ending.
Rating: Summary: Excellent but the ending could have been better Review: This book really started out well..with a bang. And it continued so ..right till the last chapter which could have better written. Anyhow Patrick Lanigan teaches a lesson or two. Never trust colleagues at work. Not Grisham's best but another feather in his already feather studded cap.
