Rating: Summary: The Partner Review: John Grisham's novel, THE PARTNER was in a way unsatisfying. The partner of an up-and-coming law firm steals about 90 mil from his fellow partners after faking his death. He then moves out of the country, gets plastic surgery, and is unable to be found. Years later, He is discovered, kidnapped, beaten then handed over to the FBI.The partner starts out like that seinfeld episode where it starts from the end and goes backwards. You meet the main character when he is being caught and you s-l-o-w-l-y discover how he did it. By about the fourth to the last chapter, I already knew the ending. It was attemped to be presented as a 'twist' but, sad to say, it wasn't. I would read this book, just dont expect a twisty ending.
Rating: Summary: The Best so far! Review: Excellent! I could not put the book down. As usual, John's wit, humor, the story's moral sense, twists and turns, or the overall writing itself of how the story all come together realistically until the end is exhilirating! Satisfying! no loose ends whatsoever! extremely entertaining to busy intelligent minds!
Rating: Summary: The Partner Review: This book was a fast read, alluding to the fact that it was exciting, but not too difficult to digest in a short time period. In typical Grisham style, the characters, plot and setting were all attention getting and holding. As the plot thickens, there is a feeling that a surprising twist is coming. These are the things that maintain the audience from one John Grisham book to the next. Unfortunately as the story climaxes, it also fizzles, and the reader is left dissapointed.
Rating: Summary: The Partner-A Great Story Review: I abolutely loved the book! It has to be one of the best books that i have ever read. I have read several other books by John Grisham and they were all really good, but this one is even better. I thought is was good because the story keeps you interested. Something new is always happening. It was a book that I just couldn't ever put down. I read the entire book in two days because it was so good. I would highly reccomend this book to everyone. It isn't hard to understand and has a great plot. It was excellent.
Rating: Summary: Grisham's Best Review: I've read all of Grisham's older stuff--and I liked this book the best. You have to commit yourself to reading this book because the ending is the best part! I would highly suggest this John Grisham book. I really think The Partner should be made into a movie. I think it's made for it!
Rating: Summary: Surprise! I LOVED IT! Review: What a great book with a fantastic ending! This book was gripping from beginning to end and I'd recommend this highly. Like all of Grisham's books, it starts off throwing out details for us to absorb and in this book, a sudden thrill as the main character is picked up and tortured but that's all I'll say because I don't want to spoil the book for you. The book continues to build up and up until the final bang at the end. I never saw this ending twist coming at all which is unusual for me. The final ending knocked me off my feet with surprise. If you're a Grisham fan or just enjoy surprise endings, then this is a 'must-have' book for your bookshelf. I fully recommend this exceptional book.
Rating: Summary: A great read, but a disappointing ending. Review: This is the first John Grisham book that I have read and I really loved it. My mom has his whole collection and I will be asking her if I can borrow, eventually, all of them. I, like many of the other reviews, was disappointed with the ending. While I knew there was going to be a surprise at the end and I wanted a surprise, this wasn't what I had in mind. I guess that makes it a true surprise, but still a disappointing one.
Rating: Summary: Good read Review: Overall, I thought "The Partner" was a good read. I had originally planned to read the book over a space of about a week, but ended up reading in it 2 days, because I found that I just couldn't put it down. I found myself thinking about the book when doing other things like walking the dog and eating, and I found myself getting excited and wanting to rush home and read more. I had heard that the ending was poor. But having finished the book, where else could Grisham take the ending? I think he did as good a job as he could have done with the ending. Summing it up, this read has made me look forward to Grishams next novel after the Brethran.
Rating: Summary: suspenseful but disappointing ending Review: I am a huge Grisham fan. I liked the story of this book but hated hated hated the end. It wasn't as good as The Pelican Brief, but better than The Testament and The Chamber.
Rating: Summary: I should have stopped at page 465 Review: The majority of the reviews are pretty accurate. You do feel like your reading one LONG ending. But I chalk that up to style. It was just different. I don't want to criticize Grisham as this is the first book I have read of his (I'm not a big fiction reader), but something is missing. However, overall it is an okay read....unitl the end that is. The last three pages of the book absolutely ruined it for me. A man (Patrick) who has thought this far ahead and executed as he did throughout would NEVER have been in a position to let something like that happen. It left just too sour a taste in my mouth. All that reading......and 3 pages ruined it!
