Rating: Summary: Typical Grisham Review: John Grisham does it again. The Partner falls right in line with other Grisham novels such as "A Time to Kill" and "The Runaway Jury". Great chracter development and a twist ending to go along with all the courtroom twists and turns that make Grisham special. This one will keep you up until the very end.
Rating: Summary: Incredible! Review: I normally don't read books about lawyers.... But a friend of mine recommended this one. What a page turner. Couldn't stop reading. The story is intense and at time unbelievable. This was my introduction to Grisham!

Rating: Summary: The ending ruined the rest of the book! Review: I agree with mike.sue -- bad, bad, BAD ending. Put me in a sad mood for days! I can't abide Grisham's view of human nature and so will also not be reading more of his works -- want my copy?
Rating: Summary: Fast and compelling! Review: This is the first Grisham novel I've read ... and I loved it! From the very beginning it held your attention. Great story line and wonderful and likable characters. It was hard to put down!
Rating: Summary: Good, but not great Review: I have read most of Grisham's past books, and this one is by far and away one of the best I have ever read by any author. But (and I know y'all knew that was coming) the ending just STUNK. Absolutely NOTHING to do with the rest of the book, it was like he said to himself one day, "I'm bored of writing this book, my deadline is coming up, I might as well just end it right...HERE!" Other than that, it was an excellent book.
Rating: Summary: Grisham cannot write a good ending!! Review: Awesome book. One question: Why didn't he tear out the last chapter and throw it away? It had nothing to do with the book, nor was there anything in the book that would indicate an ending like this. This is not a twist, its simply a stupid ending. Grisham reminds me of a salesman who can never close the deal. I was buying through out the whole book. But at the end I walked away from the sale. Runaway Jury - sappy ending Brethren - stupid ending.. No more Grisham for this lad!!
Rating: Summary: An Action-Packed Thriller Review: This book is one of John Grisham's best. The Partner is the amazing story of how one man stole 9 million dollars, and started a new life. It is full of lawsuits, lies, action, and has a surprise ending. The most interesting things are the action-packed lawsuits and the unique characters. The Partner is about Patrick, a lawyer who faked his death, stole 90 million dollars, and fled to Brazil. He was caught and tortured. Now he is back in USA, and facing hundreds of lawsuits. His old partners want the money, his wife wants him dead, and only he knows the secret that his old partners hold. This book is one of Grisham's best because the lawsuits make you feel as if you are in the courtroom, and it is exciting to learn all about how the law works. The Life Insurance Company is suing Trudy, Patrick's former wife, for the life insurance money, which she got when Patrick faked his death. The State of Alabama thinks that Patrick must have killed someone and put that person into his burning car when he faked his death, so it is suing Patrick for capital murder. Some other lawsuits involve corpse mutilation, divorce and much, much more. Another reason to read this great book is because it has unique characters. One is Stephano, the sick man who was hired by Patrick's old Partners to find the money and who nearly killed Patrick through torture. Another is Eva, the woman whose identity is known only to Patrick. She is the one who fell in love with Patrick in Brazil, and is the only person who knows where the money is hidden. Other life-like characters include Trudy, Patrick's former, rich wife who hates him. and Sandy, Patrick's loyal lawyer. These characters are so real that this book seems to just come alive with every word. This book is gripping, but too long. Instead of the 468 pages it has it could be only 370. The stories that Stephano and Patrick tell keep going on and on and on. It is also a little confusing since you see the story from everyone's point of view. For instance, Stephano is telling the FBI how he caught Patrick in one paragraph, and Patrick is eating pizza in the next. Though the changes are sudden, they make sure there is action on every page. John Grisham should be proud. It would be hard for him to make something better.
Rating: Summary: Grisham does it again Review: Exciting! Grisham's masterpiece. One of my favorites. Patrick takes 90 million from his firm and flees to Brazil. Patrick finds himself in the middle of the biggest scandal to hit the coast in years. YOU ABSOLUTELY CAN NOT PUT THIS BOOK DOWN.
Rating: Summary: The Firm revisited Review: I have read many of Grisham's books and found this the worst. It was the same general plot as the Firm but with a terrible ending. If his character was smart why didn't he place part of the money in a joint account. He wouldn't have to know where it was and if this girl was so in love with him, why the ending. I wouldn't pay the money to watch it as a movie.
