Summary: Really the best book yet by Grisham
Review: The Partner by John Grisham, a fictional novel, is a compelling story of law and escape. The story flows in a unique way that keeps the reader turning page after page. John Grisham was not only vivid in the sense that one could actually see the events, but also he presented his fictional story in a way that one could feel, touch, and smell the thrill and excitement that John Grisham endlessly provides. When a book is chosen either from a library or a bookstore, the reader usually examines the book by reading the summary or a caption on the back of the book jacket. On the back of The Partner only two simple but effective sentences are printed, "It began when he disappeared. But it didn't really start until they found him....".
Patrick Lanigan, also known as Danilo Silva, is living in Ponta Pora, Brazil after making off with 90 million dollars from the law firm in which he was a partner. The unusual part of this scheme was that he accomplished this action several weeks after his alleged death in an explosive car crash; nothing more than ashes remained. (...spoiler) As one can see, the two simple sentences on the back of the book summarize The Partner well.
What captivates a reader's interest is not only the novelist's ability to write in an entertaining style, but also to create a meaning for the reader to interpret. Mr. Grisham's message revealed that at some point in everyone's life one has the desire to escape responsibilities and, perhaps, start life anew. The author of The Partner showed his readers that, in reality, a barricade stands between you and the utopian desire for a worry free existence. Mr. Grisham also has an obvious moral- no one can escape the law, and not pay the consequences. As it has been said, "You can run, but you cant hide."
The Partner is a "two-thumbs up" read. The author's style captures his audience. It is defiantly a page turner. The mystery is unique and the reader is lured into the plot. However, a few minor flaws keep this novel from becoming a masterpiece. The over abundance of characters causes confusion for the reader. In addition, the professional law terminology at times makes it difficult to decipher the plot. Also, the conclusion is too brief, and leaves the reader dissatisfied. Nevertheless, I recommend this mystery thriller to all readers that enjoy an exiting mystery. The Partner is a captivating read and one not to be missed.

Summary: melody book review cass per. 1
Review: The Partner, is a very intriguing story that is full of unexpected twists. The blend and diversity of characters throughout the book creates an adventerous and suspensful atmosphere. Patrick Lanigan is a lawyer and the main character in the story who is to be brought to trial for stealing ninety millions dollars from a law firm where he worked. Four years later he is finally tracked down in Ponta Pora,Brazil and after being brutally tortured was taken back to America to stand trial. To begin with the book really caught my attention and it was a strong begining but after a while there were to many facts and my interest began to fade. The storyline goes in and out of suspense and information making it a little difficult to stay focused with the plot. The different kinds of twists that are found in The Partner are very cleverly written and create a suspensful atmosphere that makes the book hard to put down at times. For example when you were finally finding out about what really happened to and who was the body that was used insted of Patrick and also when Patrick is being tortured. The character of Eva Miranda throws in an interesting dynamic because as the story continues you begin to become a little confused and suspicious of who she really is. To begin with she is a person who you trust but as you get closer to the end and you learn more information her character becomes a little more cloudy and suspicious. The story flows quite well and Grisham's writing style is enjoyable. The only weakness of the book would be when the information on people and numbers becomes to long and drawn out, although some of the information is needed the bulk of it tends to slow down the story. I enjoyed reading The Partner and would encourage anyone that is interested in suspense and mystery to go ahead and read it.

Summary: The Partner: a review
Review: John Grisham has done it again. The Partner is full of suspense that keeps you at the edge of your seat, and is full of twists and turns that are unparallel to any other book. Using a false identity Patrick Lanigan, was able to hide from authorities. However, he was captured at the edge of the Brazilian jungle. After being caught, the suspense truly begans. The question lies, how and why was a successful lawyer like Patrick Lanigan able to appropriate 90 million dollars from his law firm. The story leads to an ending that will truly cause you to jump from the edge of your seat and leave you in aw. John Grisham truly wrote another masterpiece in The Partner.

Summary: The Partner. Part Two!
Review: Patrick said, "Did I not just walk out of the courtroom a free man? Did I not just talk with a woman that I love dearly, a woman who happens to be keeping a small fortune for me? The past is finally gone, Sandy. Don't you see? There's no one looking for me anymore." Patrick then got on a plane the next day to freedom. He went to Aix to a hotel that Leah had reserved for them. Patrick waited a few days but Leah never showed up. He went to Ponta Pora and stayed there. "Where else could he go? His journey was over. His past was finally closed. Surely, some day she would find him."

The book takes place in the nineties but could very well happen in present day. It is very levelheaded and realistic book. This book is told in the third person. The strength of this book is that it is well described and creates a picture in your mind of what is happening. The character develops and changes throughout the book. A major weakness in this book is that it is confusing. The story is littered with flashbacks of what actually happened to lead up to that day.

Summary: suprised at the end
Review: One of John Grisham's best. Patrick Lanigan, a lawyer from Mississippi, is found in Brazil by people who want their money back. Apparently, he has stolen it from a client as well as the partners he worked for before his supposed death. The amount missing-90 million dollars. The author weaves a wonderful and elaborate story where Patrick is the only one who knows exactly what the next steps will be within the story. First, he is charged by the FBI for wire fraud, but he has something up his sleave for them. Second, the local police would like to charge him with capital murder because of the charred remains of someone or something found in his vehicle at the time of the accident. Then , there is the small issue of an unfaithful wife, a couple of insurances companies, and a beautiful woman who happens to be the only one who knows exactly where the money is. With the help of his attorney Sandy, Patrick is always one step ahead of the law, but at the end of the story, he forgets to keep an eye on the one person he thought he could have trusted with his life and money. I highly recommend this story to those who likes a plot with more twists and turns than a grand prix race.

Summary: A New Fan Discovers John Grisham!!
Review: Grisham's The Partner was an excellent book, and kept me guessing until the very last page. This is only the second novel I have read by this author, but after the Firm, and now The Partner. I think that i am sold on his work. Patrick Lanigan steals 90 million dollars, and disappears into the outback of Brazil. Four years later he is found, and is extradicted to the US to stand trial. What follows next is a masterful look into false identities, the electronic movement of funds overseas, and more plot twists (pulled off successfully) then i have seen in awhile. If you are an old fan of Grisham's work, or a new fan like myself. Treat yourself to The Partner, and with the deal Amazon has going right now. You might as well get the Firm which was excellent as well. enjoy!!

Summary: Top Notch Grisham
Review: Like always, Grisham captivates us with his masterful story telling. The main Character is a lawyer, as usuall for Grisham, that fakes his own death, steals money from his firm and a client, and gets caught by a sleezy Private I. You will keep guessing in this great story.

Summary: A boring beginning, a bad ending.
Review: This book is one of the worst books by John Grisham. The plot was pointless, a man they found who they thought were dead, the man, Patrick, getting tortured by this man wanting to know Patrick hid the billions he stole from his company. This book was uninteresting, the end was so bad I wished I had skipped the lat chapter. Sorry folks, but this book is dud by John Grisham.

Summary: The ending stinks.
Review: I was caught up in the wonderful story and was completely disappointed with the ending. If you skip the last chapter, it's worth the read, if you read the last chapter, you may decide to never read Grisham again.
