Summary: Storms Returns
Review: Serge Storms may be a psychopathic killer, but readers of Dorsey's series cannot help laughing at his zany Floridian adventures. It is sometimes hard keeping track of the Storms chronology from book to book, but it appears that the newest novel tracks the most recent Storms shenanigans although the book begins in the middle, then quickly backtracks a short time until it catches up to where we came in.

The plot involves a myriad of subplots, but the main focus is Storms' need to discover who supposedly killed his father many decades earlier. Throughout the book are several flashbacks to the early 1960s when Storms' father gets mixed up with the mob and an infamous jewelry heist by Murph the Surf. The plot in current time also includes a quartet of condiment salesmen who should have spent more time at their convention instead of hooking up with Storms through his newly formed travel agency, a host of Mafia-types with a link back to Storms's father's story, and various members of the FBI and CIA. A few characters from early Storms adventures occasionally pop up, and at times its hard to keep track of who is chasing who.

As usual in a Dorsey book there are usually a few chuckles every page, and a frequent bellylaugh every few pages. Dorsey's humor comes from both character and plotline, and it is sometimes hard to remember that people are often dying around Storms and his compatriots in crime while you cry from laughter.

Summary: Mayhem And Laughs
Review: Serge Storms, mental institution escapee and history buff has an off kilter master to-do list. At the top of his list are investigating his grandfather's death and finding missing diamonds from a forty year old heist. So of course his first step is to start his own Miami tour guide service with Lenny, his constantly stoned friend. That's just the beginning of the wild, wacky ride that Tim Dorsey has in store for the reader in Cadillac Beach.

History lessons and bodies are liberally strewn across Miami, as Serge takes his shell-shocked clients on their tour, tries to trace his grandfather's last steps, and masterminds a plan to invade Cuba. Cadillac Beach moves back and forth from Serge's wandering adventures in the present day and the exploits of his equally unbalanced grandfather, Sergio, in the 60s.

Both timelines are populated with villains and the not-quite-so-villainous. In fact, all of the characters are morally ambiguous, and the offhanded way the body count rises can be a little disconcerting. But for the most part, I found myself rooting for Serge and company. The frenetic pace of the story grabs hold, and the humorous moments smooth over the dark spots. Author Tim Dorsey does an excellent job of weaving all of the plot threads together at the end.

Summary: Hurricane Serge strikes Miami!
Review: The hyperactive Serge Storms, the homicidal lunatic whose antics have propelled Tim Dorsey's five previous novels is back, and he's got one hell of a to-do list. It reads, verbatim:

"Develop and market my new line of South Beach energy drinks, complete rehabilitation and release of Loxahtachee marsh mouse, solve mystery of grandfather's death, recover fortune in missing diamonds from America's largest gem heist, cripple the mob in South Florida, embarrass Castro on the global stage, help Chamber of Commerce with image crisis, restore respect for the brave men and women of the US intelligence community, lure the Today Show to Miami for local pride/economic boost, participate in my times like Robert Kennedy (depending on the weather), and accomplish it all through the launch of my new-economy, clean-burning, earth friendly venture capital business that involves spiritual growth, historical appreciation, and the Internet."

Of course, Serge notes, the list is "subject to change without notice."

Serge tackles the items on his Master List with gusto; Dorsey chronicles his adventures in grand style. Doing so, he takes readers on a frenetic literary ride, repeatedly cutting in time from 1964 to 2004 and back, never once dropping any of the myriad balls he so fearlessly tosses into the air. Long time fans of the series won't be disappointed (this reviewer particularly enjoyed the cameos by Agent Mahoney, who Serge drove into an institution). Those new to the continuing and varied Serge saga will quickly adapt to the chaos. You might be a little winded upon finishing, but this book's worth the fatigue.

Summary: Dorsey Delivers Again!!
Review: There must be something about the air in Florida..at least as to how it affects some of those who chose to write about the life there, i.e. Carl Hiassen and Tim Dorsey. In this book it is Dorsey's turn and he doesn't miss a zany beat with the return of Serge A. Storms, a one man crime wave. All I can say is, if you want to enjoy yourself, pour a cool one and put on your safety belt before taking off on this adventure. It is non-stop zaniness and the writing is first rate.

Summary: Sadistically Funny
Review: This whole series of books by Tim Dorsey can be described as a twisted and funny study on the dark side in all of human beings. Tim Dorsey manages to take everyday situations and make them incredibly funny. Based in Florida, the series follows the twisted life of Serge Storms (one of the best characters ever created) and all his sick, violent and disturbed adventures. Of course, along the way you will get to meet every kind of character you can imagine.

The interesting thing about this series is that behind all the funny stories, there are tons of social and political criticisms. I have read all the books in the series, and each one keeps getting better. If you are a fan of Quentin Tarantino movies, or South Park cartoons, you will love these books. A must buy.

Summary: Long awaited but SOOO worth every second!
Review: Tim Dorsey's sixth book and is sixth in the Serge A. Storms series! I absolutely loved this book (but I'm not shocked since I've loved all Dorsey's books). It's the ideal description of manic and mayhem, just add mischief and murder!

Serge decides he's going to get to the truth about his grandfather's death. Throughout the novel as Serge is trying to get all the details by excuting his "Master Plan", we get a ton of flashbacks from the 1960s building up to Sergio's death. I like how Cadillac Beach is different from the other Dorsey novels because of the flashback scenes.

There's so much I want to say about this book, but I don't want to give any of it away! I was constantly laughing out loud... I even had to stop and call my dad (another avid Dorsey reader) numerous times to say, "You'll never believe who just made a camio in Cadillac Beach!"

It's a fabulous read and it seriously keeps you thinking! If this might be you're first Dorsey read, it's okay! No previous secrets will be revealed... but do read the rest, I'm insanely obsessed with all of them!
