Summary: Amazing Read
Review: Don't waste time comparing Dan Brown's Da Vinci Code with this book. Daughter of God (published much earlier) stands on its own merits. While both books have similiar themes they don't have the same style, and should not be held in comparision to each other.

Perdue's protagonists Seth and Zoe Ridgeway are a tangled mass of condratitions which play well against each other. (A bit *corny* at times - but forgivable)

Seth, professor of religion & ex-cop, Zoe, an art broker and virtual athiest sweep the world on a quest for a missing painting and clues to a secret which will rock the Vactican. There is plenty of action, exceptional dialogue, and well-researched information that grabs the reader as we beg for more and more and a great twist of and ending!

Summary: A Real Page Turner
Review: Lewis Perdue's new novel, "Daughter of God", is a deftly written fast moving thriller. The tightly constructed plot and subplots carefully interwoven with dark historical secrets and them of power, greed and deception offer a vividly descriptive and stunningly good read.

The novel concerns an ancient document, which holds a secret capable of changing history and rocking the course of Western religion. The secret involves a proof of a female messiah, who lived during the reign of Constantine and who was murdered to preserve the religious image of God as male and protect the power of the Holy Roman Empire. It's the story of fine arts broker, Zoe Ridgeway, and her husband, Seth, a professor of philosophy and comparative religion, who find themselves caught in a web of terror and deception Their hair raising expeiences are filled with unexpected twists and turns right up to the shocking ending.

Perdue has well researched his theses and raise some disturbing questions which the reader will want to ponder. All in all, this book is great fun to read and a much bigger book than its 320 pages.

Summary: Thank God for Great Characters and Writing
Review: I was so gratified to find the three-dimensional characters and great writing in this book. Zoe and Seth absolutely come alive and changed as they deal with their crisis of faith and the action. I also enjoyed the unique ways that they got themselves out of trouble.

After the tin-man characters in Da Vinci Code, it was great to find this, the original by all accounts, filled with thoughtful people and history that actually stands up to scrutiny.

I enjoyed Perdue's earlier book, The Da Vinci Legacy a lot, but this book is even better.

Summary: If a refund were possible
Review: I was not excited at all by this book. At times it takes a few chapters to get wrapped up in the authors world but sadly that never happened for me while reading Daughter of God.

Most recently I purchased The Da Vinci Code and I was plesantly surprised. Similar subject matter but gripping from the first page to the last. I would suggest purchasing Dan Brown's TDVC over Lewis Perdue's DOG.

Summary: Totally AWEsome!
Review: I can't get this book OUT of my mind. The premise, the plot and the writing all combined to produce probably the most enjoyable and significant piece of fiction I have read in years.

Perdue gives us remarkable history and weaves it together so flawlessly that I was lost in the story from beginning to end.

Summary: not bad...have read better....
Review: i read this book after reading an article in some magazine that implied some controversy about dan brown ripping the storyline from perdue's book to write the da vinci code.

upside: not bad. mystery unravels as the story progresses. interesting plot based on historical events/facts. at the end of the book, perdue leaves a short "author's note" that talks about the historical accuracy of his book which was a nice touch. props to this book for being "first" before DVC.

downside: not as intelligent or intricate as the DVC - the plot is not as slick nor is the "mystery" as in-depth. the dialogue at times is cheesy giving a "soap-opera" feel to the story.

overall: recommended to read if you have time. if other books are priority, read those first.

Summary: Daughter of God
Review: This book is fast-paced, a fabulous read. I couldn't put it down. Perdue, illuminates his well researched historial references into secrets plots and scheming sub-plots, spiralling the reader through milleniums of sacred personage worship, cover-ups, deceit, etc.

"Faith sustains us. Religion divides us." How true that statement is, was, and will be, until there is unity that faith is within and not beyond.

I did not give a good review for the rewrite and/or re-release of Da Vinci Legacy. I think my quote was "moments of brilliance, scattered throughout the book, what a shame for a talented writer. However, 'Daughter of God' is brilliant from cover to cover. I enjoyed this book better than the Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown. Actually, there are many similarities. They say great minds think a like. Coincidence or universal thought?

Summary: Great Writer!
Review: I was reading Dan Brown's "Angels and Demons" at the time I purchased "Daughter of God". After reading through the first few pages of Perdue's book, I put "Angels and Demons" (which I also found to be a great book) aside. Daughter of God just had me hooked with the first few pages. For those comparing Lewis Perdue with Dan Brown, it should be noted that Lewis Perdue was ahead of the times. Lewis Perdue published the "Da Vinci Legacy" almost 20 years before Dan Brown's "Da Vinci Code" (1983 compared to 2000).

Lewis Purdue has stimulated my interest not only reading ALL of his book, but also recommends non-fiction resources which address the topics covered in his books (Nazi art theft and Religion)which can be found on his websites: http://www.daughter-of-god.com and his author website: http://www.lewisperdue.com

I cannot recommend his books enough. They are enjoyable and enlightening. I am on a reading binge after finishing "Daughter of God". I feel truly inspired to learn more. Thank you Mr. Perdue!
