Summary: Keeps You Guessing -- You Won't Be Able to Put It Down
Review: Fabulous book. Keeps you guessing -- just when you think you have it figured out, something happens that causes you to doubt your theory. Even though it's long, it's a quick read because you can't wait to see what will happen next. Interesting insight into jury selection and the experience of sitting on a jury for a big, precedent-setting, controversial trial for a pivotal case. Brilliantly constructed, well thought out -- a must read for any Grisham fan or courtroom thriller addict!

Summary: The Runaway Jury
Review: The Runaway Jury by John Grisham is an excellent of fiction. While, in my opinion, it doesn't stand up to Grisham standards, it is still a very fine book. The story is, of course, about a court case. This particular case is disputing the difficult subject of tobacco products and the effects on their users. The book contains the usual Grisham style: court vocabulary and a serious mood. It starts off well but slowly slips into long, drudging period in which there are only judicial commentary and tobacco effects. The ending makes up for it, however. It keeps the reader guessing only to be surprised. This book was very appropriate for its time. There was a large tobacco case in settlement at the time of publishing. The story encouraged many questions to arise. Is it the tobacco company's fault that people are dying? If they are, are they supposed to stop producing their product? Do they owe anything to the family of lung cancer victims? Overall, I enjoyed the book. I would recommend it to anyone pursuing a legal career or to anyone who just wants to read a good book.

Summary: Mrs. Casserly's Class
Review: The Runaway Jury is sort of a weird read. The book keeps your attention half of the time, then causes you to nearly fall asleep the other half. A lot of the issues in this book revolve around tobacco products and if they really cause cancer and all that other stuff. Though the book is good, it doesn't compare to many of Grisham's other works. From my past experience reading his works, I believe he has had far better works, not to mention ones not quite so boring.
It seemed as if the good guys could be good or bad, and the bad guys were who knows where. Often this was a problem for me. At some places in the book, the good guys and bad guys are undistinguishable. I am not a smoker or tobacco user, and this book just gives me one more good reason not to. However, tobacco products are taxed at a high rate, benefitting teachers who thrive on taxpayer money.
Of course, the good guys win (like Grisham would have it any other way). The courtroom talk just drags on and on, with no apparent end. I must have fallen asleep at least seven times reading the courtroom chapters. Grisham is at his best when he gets to his point quickly. In this book it felt like there were about 50 main characters. However, he brings a lot more of a rugged side to this book by adding more inappropriate language. The book is full of random sexual references and bad words, in an attempt to make the content the worst it can be. This is a new style that could make him more popular with today's teenagers.
Runaway Jury is still worth reading sometime, but it isn't as professional as his previous works.

Summary: A Grisham Classic
Review: This is the type of book that true Grisham fans crave, the type that he built his reputation and career on.

In the story of a tobacco litigation suit, Grisham unviels a disturbing conspiracy. The conclusion is riveting and powerful, nothing less than we would expect from the author. If you're looking to get into the world of Grisham, The Runaway Jury is an excellent place to begin.

Summary: The Runaway Jury
Review: The name of my book is The Runaway Jury by John Grisham. This book is nonfiction and was written in memory of Tim Hargrove (1953-1995). The theme of this book is the precedentsetting lawsuit against a giant tobacco company. This book is really interesting yet it did have its low points. Most of the time, the book was boring, but when it wasnt boring, it was very entertaining. I recomend this book to everyone that enjoys the wonder of what will happen next. The book could have been deeper in meaning when it came down to the court cases. The begining of the book was exciting because anything could have happend. When you get into the book you begin to wonder if the two main jurors have good or bad intentions. When their pasts are uncovered you begin to think twice about them. Now everything depends on their verdict. Overall i enjoyed this book! It made me not want to stop reading and i think it will be the same for you!

Summary: Best Grisham Novel I've read
Review: I really enjoyed this book from beginning to end. Each chapter intrigued me and kept be thirsty for more.I could not have selected a better book when I purchased this one.And I say this not because I'm a Grisham follower, but simply because I enjoy reading something that keeps my attention. It made me laugh, kept me on my toes, and dying to get to the next chapter. I wish they would have made a screen play and/or movie out of this one. To see these words on film would be awesome. If only they wouldn't make too many changes.....

Summary: Not one of his better works.
Review: At the time I read this book I was on a big Grisham binge. I loved his early works and had high hopes for this book. Unfortunately this book didn't live up to the standard he had set in his other books (The Firm, The Pelican Brief).
The story revolves around a large tobacco suit. Much of the story is spent in the courtroom hearing the arguments for and against tobacco use. The rest of the story is about the jury and the manipulation of the jury by outside forces.
Although as with other Grisham books I found fascinating information on jury selection, sequestering, etc. the story just didn't have the pull I was looking for. The ending was predictable and seemed to have been penned quickly to finish the book.
If you are a diehard Grisham fan, then read this book. Otherwise pick up one of his earlier books for an excellent read.

Summary: Job well done
Review: This was the first book I read by John Grisham. And boy let me tell you it really got me hooked.

I've always been drawn away from courtroom thrillers and now that I look back at it I really have no clue why. It has everything I really like in a book and from what I've heard in the past is that Grisham is the king of these types of books.

This book really got me from the start. It's about a deceased smoker's family that sues the tobacco company that got a good portion of this man's money during his lifetime. The thing that's the problem is the jury. They have to be taken to a safe place because of some suspicious actions that have been going on during the trial. This book has a really good ending too. It really surprised me. I don't want to give away any more information though I think I've given away too much as it is. However, this is a really great book and I'd recommend it to anyone that like any kind of thrilling suspense.

Summary: A Great boook
Review: This is a great book, It was slightly boring in the beginning, but it sped up later on. The plot was how this window was suing a tobbaco company for the death of her husband. A man named Nicholas Easter is trying to get into the jury. When he gets in, he starts trying to get the jury to listen to him. Meanwhile the defendant is bribing the jury to help their side. The ending is interesting. This is one the best described books I've read in a while.

Summary: Runaway success
Review: No point repeating what other reviewers have said, Grisham's 'Runaway Jury' is a well-paced, well-characterized, well-structured story of a jury's verdict against a big tobacco company. If it had one (small) problem it was the ending. I don't want to give the plot away, but the final act of Claire (one of the protagonists) is unlikely and Grisham's writing wasn't able to convince me otherwise.

I'm not a devout Grisham fan. Some of his stuff is good, some is very good, and some is mediocre. Runaway Jury sits comfortably in the good category. It's not a work of high literary merit, but it delivers exactly what it promises - an entertaining read with conspiracy, intrigue and suspense built in at the right places. Splattered with moments of humor, thrills, and inventiveness, you open the tin and the contents are how you'd expect them to be.

Runaway Jury will not let you down. It's got the words 'made in John Grisham' printed through it like a stick of seaside candy. It's a bit like getting a guarantee of quality. He doesn't often disappoint.
