Rating: Summary: Thinking Thriller Review: With The Runaway Jury, John Grisham demonstrates that hisnovels don't have to be big chases. He can write intimatecat-and-mouse as well. One of the best things about this book is how he presents both sides of the smoking lawsuit with relative fairness. Easter's domination of the jury was a bit overwhelming, but not completely out of the question. The ending was predictable, but not to the point of causing frustration with the entire novel, like The Client. Overall, this was a highly enjoyable novel.
Rating: Summary: Very good read. Review: John Grisham wiil be remebered as one of the greatest authorsof our time, and rightfully so. He is terrific, no one can buildsuspense like he can. With "The Runaway Jury" the same is true. The ending was somewhat perdictable, but not fully. This is certainly not "A Time To Kill" or the "Firm", but it is never-the-less entertaining.
Rating: Summary: Another master piece Review: John grisham's style and way of expression just keeps the reader expecting something new everytime, the plot and the characters are unbelievably defined and each character is given a special characteristic to define his/her personality, this is really a powerful book and certainly one of his best pieces of work
Rating: Summary: Same Grisham Style, slightly different context. Review: This book gripped me at the start but lost the pace towards themiddle, turning into the same old story, just with the jury instead ofthe lawyers. I'd even figured out many of the plot twists before they occured! Overall, it is pretty funny in parts but nothing particularly new.
Rating: Summary: Looking for a Great Summer Book? Then look no further! Review: I think that the Runaway Jury is one of John Grishams bestbooks. I think that this book brought some his best writing talents. It has a fast plot, with a lets say very clinching ending. This book has the kind of ending, when you read it, you'll have to read it over 5 or more times again for the sentence to take effect. Over all I would recommend this book to anyone that was looking for a good read this summer.
Rating: Summary: JURY DUTY-YUCK! Review: HOWEVER, EVERYONE MUST DO JURY DUTY. THIS BOOK IS FOCUSING MAINLY ON THE JURY. VERY WELL WRITTEN AND WORTH BUYING FOR KEEPS
Rating: Summary: Not up to par Review: I was definitely disappointed with this one! It had a very slowbeginning and it was difficult to stay interested. But as I read on,it did get interesting and even a little intriguing around the middle. However, it was very predictable. I could figure out the ending from the beginning! I think Grisham needs to work on his endings because once again, I'm disappointed. The Runaway Jury can't compare to The Client or even A Time to Kill.
Rating: Summary: Know the Facts Before You Take Part Review: This book is one of his best. Especially being a smoker andall. It shows how two people can maniuplate the government (thecourts). I found this book compelling to read, subjective of both sides of the trial. I especially recommend this book.
Rating: Summary: A view of justice run amuck Review: A fine tale of intrigue told by a master storyteller. A story of big tobacco firms vs. the family of a cancer victim. Is smoking addictive? Read how the truth is manipulated and justice is the loser. Can this really happen? The jury is manipulated to win, the selected forman is a secret mole with a past and the final judgement is not what it appears
Rating: Summary: Better than mediocre; not Grisham's usual quality Review: "Runaway Jury", I found, is not a bad narrrative --certainly not Grisham's best, but not bad. The ending (much of theplot, too) is unrealistic and I didn't take too kindly the political message that was being sent. The plot development is telegraphed well in advance -- you can put two and two together quickly to figure out the climax long before it happens. However, it is a look that not many of us get to see -- inside a jury room. I can't imagine how the jury could get away with the things they did, such as the time the jury members all stared at the spectator; yet, their antics were humorous. Problem is, humor is not Grisham's strong point. Grisham fired up my interests many times, e.g. the "FBI" visit to Hoppy's office, the real FBI visit there, and the fire at Nick Easter's apartment. There are many things "Runaway Jury" is not. It is not Grisham, but it's not that bad, either.
