Rating: Summary: ONE OF GRISHAMS' BEST BOOKS Review: This book has more twists and turns than highway road construction!! I enjoyed this book immensly and had a hard time putting this one down. In "Runaway Jury" it's as if we are getting a sneak-peek at what really goes on behind closed doors. Mr. Grisham did a fabulous job of taking us through the compexities of the biggest tobacco trial in history. If all his books are as good as this one, then I'm hooked.
Rating: Summary: Really good start and middle but the end was too predicatble Review: Thats it John boys done it again, much better than latest Partner(noticed striking similarities though) Twist at the end totally expected should have double twisted it ( but not as in Partner- very frustrating - uncalled for- no reason to-get the point JG??) Overall ok book. good addition to collecter's of JG bks
Rating: Summary: Two words: Kicked Ass Review: This is by far one of the best books I have read from any author. I found Grishams writing to be orginized extremely well. There was never a moment when I wanted to put the book down because I needed a refibulator to get my heart going again. (unlike poor Mr. Grimes. hehe.)
Rating: Summary: Grisham takes to long to get to the point. Review: book lasts forever, and says the same thing over and over. I lost interest and did not finish the book.
Rating: Summary: Complex questions, but awfully slick answers. Review: Grisham poses a lot of interesting questions in this book. "Are tobacco companies responsible for the damage done by the products they sell?" is the most obvious one. However, when it comes to trials, we are familiar with the manipulation of the press, public opinion, changes of venues, all attempts to affect the judicial system by working on external forces. So, what happens when judicial manipulations occur from the INSIDE system? An organized attempt to first rig, then influence the judge and jury adds a third protagonist to the usual dual advisaries of prosecution and defendant. Other questions; is money adequate compensation for all damages? Do large judical awards compensate for death and punish for it's infliction? Is an attempt to tamper with the judicial system acceptable if you believe your cause is just enough? Do the poor have to unite against the wealthy to obtain a judgement in our current system of trial practices? This book is rich with those and other meaty questions. What is missing is characters who you can like. The cast ends up being opposite sides of the same coin, each determined to use whatever means they have availabe to win. Each side is just as morally repellent as the other, and point seems to be that the meanest, trickiest, and richest will win, and having won, nothing further is required from them.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Review: The Runaway Jury is one of the best books I've read all year. The characters developed by Grisham are interesting and unpredictable. Page after page I rooted for Nicholas and Marlee, and their many antics, to come out on top. Pick this one up immediately!
Rating: Summary: I LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!!! Review: This book is Da Bomb for 3 reasons: 1.It moves at a speed of light pace and is an enjoyable read. 2.The main characters are really cool. I like how Grisham fleshes out the lives of the individual characters. 3.Rankin Fitch, Grisham's best villian.Need I say more? All in all, Grisham's best novel.
Rating: Summary: Finally, a John Grisham book that doesn't end in the Caymans Review: After reading a John Grisham book, I would put it down and say, "Why did I do that to myself again?" I loved The Firm, but the next few books were the same book, different characters. However, The Runaway Jury has changed by opinion. Finally, a book that doesn't end with everyone running away to the Caymans!! It may not be the most believable book, but I kept on reading, and was pleasantly surprised when I reached the end. No question about it, the BEST Grisham book yet.
Rating: Summary: I just don't know why I dont like it!! Review: Like I said, I just don't know why I don't like this book. It just not interest me at all. Maybe there is not enough conflict in it.. The character, both of them, are not strong. And the story was just slow and just talk rubbish...! Sorry grisham..!
Rating: Summary: Great fun to read. Review: Much like John Grisham's second book, The Firm, The Runaway Jury was a very exciting, unpredictable read. Grisham manages to make the best out of his characters. You never know who to trust and who to hate, which makes it great fun to read. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
