Rating: Summary: great, great, great, etc. Review: This book is without a boubt, one of the best books that grisham has ever written. His style of writing has fascinated me from the very beginning, he is without a doubt a writer that is going to get great reviews.
Rating: Summary: Not his best effort, but he is still one of the best. Review: Like in all of Grisham's books, lawyers are brilliant beyond reality and are chock full of hidden or evil motives. This current-events novel is slow paced for much of the first 400 pages, but the detail creates a building that is necessary for such a complex topic. Some will read this as a guise for displaying an anti-tobacco tome, but a closer look will demonstrate a balance that is rarely achieved even in non-fiction works. Even the good guys aren't so good. Grisham can do better, and he should. His talent is broad AND deep --- he should take his time to produce a richer and more innovative set of stories within the story. All-in-all this production still places him in the elite of contemporary writers. He set a high standard with his previous works --- it's up to him to meet the mark each time out.l
Rating: Summary: If you could put this book down, then you have a problem! Review: Even though I'm only 15 and this was my first ever John Grisham book, I must say it will NOT be my last one. This book has given me a bigger grasp of how the judicial system works, and besides that, it was fun!!Grisham writes a compelling, some-what believable story. His characters (especially Fitch) are very memorable and each have their own personality. If you like John Grisham, or have never read one of his books but would like to, then give this one a try. You might be surprised how much you like it.
Rating: Summary: Once you start you cannot stop. Review: John Grisham is an excellent narrator and a good story teller. This book was fast paced and I could not put it down. Twelve jurors vs. the Tobacco Company, with Big Business getting in the way. For all those who ever wanted to know what goes on " behind closed doors" than I recommend you read this book.
Rating: Summary: BRILLIANT AS EVER Review: WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT THAT A BOOK ABOUT A COURT CASE (NOT EVEN AN EXCITING MURDER) COULD BE SO GRIPPING. I READ THIS BOOK AS THERE WAS NOTHING ELSE AVAILABLE ON HOLIDAY AND WAS HEARTBROKEN TO REACH THE END. IT WAS FASCINATING TO READ HOW A COURT CASE HAPPENS IN THE US BUT THE TWISTS AND TURNS MADE IT EVEN MORE SO. I CAN'T WAIT TO READ MY NEXT GRISHAM NOVEL!
Rating: Summary: The Runaway Jury Summary Review Review: The Runaway Jury, by the great author, John Grisham, is yet another wonderful portrayal of the justice and legal system in America. Like most of his other works, Grisham adds suspense, drama, violence, scandals, and sometimes romantic encounters to make the legal industry seem enticing to readers. Grisham has again written a true masterpiece that should have been on a bestsellers list somewhere.
Rating: Summary: 2-Day Page Turner... Review: One of the best books by Grisham so far. The Runnaway Jury was a book that I could hardly put down, it kept me captivated throughout until the end. The way that Grisham just kept adding a little piece of the puzzle each time was addicting. I have read all of Grishams books execpt for the latest two, and I was really impressed with the ability that Grisham has to put an idea onto the page. Every character in the book kept you guessing on what was going to happen next. If your a true Grisham fan than you'll love this book.
Rating: Summary: Read it! Review: If you can tolerate the first 450 pages of fairly slow, obvious plot development, the last 100 pages are absolutely gripping and totally worth it.
Rating: Summary: Fast-paced book with a heart-stopping, slam-bang ending!!!! Review: The Runaway Jury is by far the best Grisham book (or even the best book in general) I've EVER read! It is full of twists, turns, surprises, and the biggest ending you could imagine! In many of the other reviews you hear all these people talking crap about the book--like it's too predictable, too similar to his other books, too unrealistic, and too slow and boring--that's a bunch of bull!!! I must say that this book is very fast paced, completally unpredictable, and SO true to life! It unleashes your emotions and lets them run wild, while you evaluate your morale! This book certianly poses quite a few moral questions which, I think, add to the richness and fullness of the story. I really think that the people that slammed this book are crack heads with nothing better to do than discourage you people from reading a Great book. I know that you'll love it--you just can't not! I feel that the only bad thing about this book is that when you finish this book you don't want to say good-bye to the characters! Grisham makes each and every one of them like you're best friend. I miss Marlee so much. After the story you just want to hug her. And what about Nicholas, or Fitch??? They're all cool. So, really the only bad thing about the book is in all actuality GOOD--if you catch my drift. I hope you enjoy it! --Jared Philibert
Rating: Summary: Enjoyable, but slower than the others Review: I read this while I was sitting in the court house waiting to be called for Jury Duty. ( I thought that would be kind of humorous). It seems to have gone into too much detail in areas and some of the characters seem way too unrealistic. It just didn't keep the pace of The Client, A Time to Kill or any of the others. But at the same time, it was enjoyable enough that I didn't want to stop reading it. I would still recommend it to a friend. ( I have read every Grisham book to date and this is probably on the bottom of the list in order of liking, but just the same it WAS liked)
