Summary: Excellent!
Review: I have read all of Grisham's previous books and have only found them mediocre. The Runaway Jury captured my interest and held me tightly in its grasp until the very end. I was not one bit disappointed in the plot, character development, dialog, detail... NOTHING! The story remained focused, offered excellent descriptives, exposed me to a side of our legal system I had no knowledge of whatsoever. The entire concept of this story is unique, and I found it impressively intriguing. I highly recommend this book to any fan of legal suspense drama. Good job, John Grisham!

Summary: Disappointing
Review: I am not an advocate for smokers or a smoker myself but I could not stand the characters Nicholas and Marlee for their so sure attitude. I guess I was pretty upset at how easily he manipulated the juries and how he twist and turns things. Of course both plaintiff and defendants are no better but I really found this book a pain to read and agonizing.

Summary: Plot 5, suspense 4, character development 3.
Review: Now I know why the tobacco companies decided to capitulate to the attorneys general after 30 years of stonewalling: Grisham went after 'em in this book. Great plot, lots of suspense. Character development left a lot to be desired, with the resolutions of more than a few characters left in limbo. But hey, this ain't Dickens - or is it? I had more fun reading this than that Pearl Cleage and Wally Lamb I struggled through last week. And while those two and others are excellent writers, sometimes it's a pleasure to just sit down to a good juicy story. That's my vote and you're not changing it. MAS

Summary: Suspenseful, never given the ending away, kept me revited
Review: John Grisham, manages as he aways dose to spin a story that keeps you on the edge of your seat. Leading you in so many directions and then finally tying it all together. The ending is surprising and leaves you wondering, just how legal what you just read is, and how could someone pull it off. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to be entertained by a master writer. Grisham has done it again, very good.

Summary: Excellent Book, Interesting Twist. "I couldnt put it down."
Review: An excellent book. One of the best books I have read. Tobacco Liability trials are front page news these days. Nicholas Easter, a college student working in a computer store was called to jury duty after being selected by a jury selection service on the defense. The most honest, truthful people were picked for a jury to decide on a verdict in which both sides do not play fair. With unethical tactics being played by both the plaintiff and the defendants, Marlee, a mysterious young woman with an extended knowledge of the trial comes into the picture. No matter how hard each side works, her unknown past may reveal the true verdict of the case. 1996 Summary By Kevin Kilanowski

Summary: A legal E-Ticket ride out of a civil trial...
Review: Excerpt from a letter to my frend, author Donald Stanwood: Don - I am glad you have picked up "The Runaway Jury" to read (by now you've finished it, no doubt). I found it to be thoroughly entertaining. One needs to set aside recent historical events re: Big Tobacco but I think in general it works. It's pretty convoluted, but definitely imaginative and clever in my opinion, and I do believe it delivers nicely. I did not have much difficulty with the implausibility of the plot because I thought it was so richly detailed. The biggest problem I had was how Jurror #2 made it to this jury (It simply is not that easy) but other than that, a page-turner it is!

Summary: Grisham's best
Review: After the first few books that were so promising, a few that were of a lower quality, Grisham proves that he's one of the best ever. Like the early days, I was glued to the book and was captivated in the first page. The entire time you're thinking that something must change and with this ending, it surely did. Great finish !!

Summary: Currently the best in the genre !
Review: Grisham is definetely the best known American author in Russia. This one is truly a fantastic read ! Suspenseful, unputdownable, absorbing ! In other words, ZINGY !!! It's surely a must for any court-drama admirer.
