Rating: Summary: outstanding Review: couldn't put it down. It moved fast, and the scenario seemed so plausible. Definetly equal to Ludlums books for intrigue
Rating: Summary: Nonstop action. Review: The action moves fast in this one and there in lots of suspense. Tough to put down. A notch below his "Term Limits", but strongly entertaining nonetheless. The characters are deeply drawn and the villains particularly detestable. A couple of the good guys appeared in "Term Limits" and lend a continuity and certain air of credibility to the book. I hope Mr. Flynn keeps them and continues their development. There's a bit of humor amid the captivating, fast paced writing. I think Mr. Flynn tells a good tale, and with a minimum suspension of disbelief it is easy to get involved and not put his books down. I have added Vince Flynn to my list of must read writers.
Rating: Summary: Great Movie Script Review: This was my first Flynn novel and I couldn't put it down. From the first chapter, the reader is captivated to read on with a suspense feeling in the pit of the stomach. Each morning I would come into work and my co-workers asked what had happened the night before. They wanted every detail as if I was watching a mini-series. They were thrilled with the activities of Mitch Rapp and "laughed along" with Marge Tutweiler. The author even puts in a little romance (but not much) for we girls. By the way, when IS the movie coming out? I definitely plan on snatching up anything else that comes from Vince Flynn.
Rating: Summary: Transfer of Power Review: An extremely entertaining and exciting political thriller. It was impossible to put the book down and I wasn't ready to stop reading when I reached the end! The plot is potentially realistic (and thought provoking), and Flynn develops more depth to his characters (including the "bad guys") than he did in his first book "Term Limits". I'm looking forward to Flynn's next book and the movie version of "Transfer of Power".
Rating: Summary: A good summer-time read Review: Transfer of Power is a step up from Flynn's initial novel,Term Limits. Despite inaccuracies on power structures as they exist inthe Middle East, I found the book to be a good summer-time read. The book does not require a lot of thinking and the good guys are clearly distinguishable from the bad guys. The author even makes a semi-hero out of a female character.. What surprises me most is that whether intentional or not, Flynn provides an adequate defense on why some Islamic groups have come to hate the United States. This is done despite Flynn's depiction of most of the bad guys as being almost animalistic in nature. In other words, despite the means by which they are trying to achieve their cause, they do have a good reason to be angry. The ending comes way too quick, but perhaps in reality this is what happens. How many times have we seen in real life, dramas playing out for days, weeks and even months, only to come to a final conclusion in mere minutes? I am actually looking forward to Flynn's next novel that appears to be an extension of this novel. He is improving in his story telling and dialogue between characters. I am only glad that I chose to read this novel first rather than Term Limits. Had I read Term Limits first I probably would never have read this one. END
Rating: Summary: Enjoy a new writer while you wait for Clancy to write! Review: I find Flynn's book delightful. It is fast moving. By page 100 you already have met most of the characters, know what the problem is and can't wait for him to solve it. Unlike Mr. Clancy he does not describe every gun, weapon and military equipment (which I personally can't always follow). Like Clancy his story moves quickly and holds your attention. Sometimes as I am reading Flynn I think I already know these characters because they are much like Clancy's. It is always great to have a good book to read while waiting for Clancy to come up with a new one and certainly I will be one reader who will read all of Flynn's work until, if he does, he disappoints me! Good read, entertaining, fast moving and timely!
Rating: Summary: A good summer read; a book that delivers. Review: Putting terrorists in the White House, with all its symbolism and American pride and then figuring out how our government would handle the crisis intrigued me. I enjoyed the behind the scenes tour of areas in the White House most of us would never see, even if they are only a figment of Mr. Flynn's immagination. The action is non-stop, once you begin you will not put this book down. I applaud Mr. Flynn's use of several strong female characters, Anna Reilly, reporter and Dr. Irene Kennedy, CIA. I also applaud his use of several elderly heros, Milt Adams, retired Secret Service, and Director Stansfield,CIA, nearing 80 and very much in charge. I was not disappointed. This book delivers.
Rating: Summary: Mitch Rapp a more believable hero. Review: Reviewers of Flynn's previous work "Term Limits" compared Flynn to Tom Clancy and I just couldn't see it. That book was as much manifesto as story, its antihero a disgruntled Congressman who no longer believed in the institution he was elected to serve. This book, however, has an actual hero in the form of CIA agent/ commando Mitch Rapp. His boss Dr. Irene Kennedy is familiar to those of us who read "Limits"--throughout that book, she seemed more the hero than the good Congressman. I guess that's because she actually "fought the fight" instead of grinding personal axes the way the Congressman did in that book. We get an attack-and-siege scene in the White House that I bet Steven Seagall might wish that he'd waited for. All in all, a good yarn that I frankly didn't expect from the guy who wrote "Under Siege". I don't know why I gave Flynn a second chance, but I'm glad I did. Here's hoping that the next is more like this one than the opener.
Rating: Summary: Transfer of Power Review: The book was very compelling. I did not want to put it down once I started reading it. Typical of other Flynn Books this one did contain a technical error. It referred to "Air Force One" landing however the president was not on it. Most people who write about the president know that the Air Force One only goes by that designation when the president is on it. He was in a bunker under the White House.
Rating: Summary: Vince Flynn, Transfer of Power Review: Reads well but not as well as his first book, Term Limits. The hero is too heroic and believability suffers. Second best bad author since James Fenimore Cooper, Clancy is the first. Reading Flynn is like chinese food. Read it today and try to remember it tomorow. I had to check reviews to refresh my memory of Term Limits. The same will be true of Transfer of Power, but even more so.
