Summary: Very nice book, even translated into Spanish
Review: I read it in Spanish a year ago, it took me a year (some pages every night before I went to sleep) and I still remember a lot from its characters. I will read it again someday.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Without equal
Review: I was completely involved with the characters right from the start. I have recommended this book to many people and with the exeception of one person it is now their favorite book.

Ken, I demand a sequel..

Summary: IF YOU HAVE EYES... READ THIS BOOK!!!
Review: Okay... first of all, this book is a must read. Even if you've never read a book before... even if you hate to read... READ THIS BOOK!!! Okay, now on to my second plea... stop saying that this should be made into a movie or mini-series... NO!!! Every book I've loved that's been touched by Hollywood has been ruined.

And a warning to those of you who are avid readers, you will be spoiled after reading this. I read it a few years ago and I've yet to find a book that even comes close to being this good.

Summary: Just a few inches short of a home run!
Review: Well what can I say that the other 150+ reviews hadn't said already? Well, I can say that for the first 450 pages you'll be enthralled! The characters and the ups and downs of their existence will captivate you! But, soon you'll start to get the uneasy feeling that things are becoming repetitive as you celebrate one more victory, and then, yet another defeat. Eventually, you'll start to get the feeling that a great ending is impossible. Alas, it is true. A book of such heft should not have been wrapped up so quickly and neatly. Never the less, you'll enjoy this book and will willingly forgive the letdown. After all, how can one keep a grudge against a loved one after such a marathon session. Buy it, you'll like it, and you'll be happy to share it!

Summary: AWESOME
Review: Ken Follet brings everyone to reality with this book. It was the third book of his that I had read at the time. In my opinion, Eye of the Needle, and Lie down with Lions don't compare to this masterpiece. It's fiction, or is it? It's hard to tell. You won't want to go to sleep until it's over. GO KEN, we want More.

Summary: A great read! Just great!
Review: I have read (and reread) this amazing book several times. It's quite a departure from his others (Lie Down With Lions is another favorite of mine); I really didn't know what to expect when I started it. I LOVED IT! This story is a love story - one man's love of building, manifest in a magnificent cathedral, and his son's love for a woman he thought unattainable, set against a sweeping historical backdrop. I did not want to put this book down - Follett draws his characters very well, and really makes you care about what happens to them. A good friend loaned me this book, insisting I read it and that I would love it. He was right!

Summary: SUPERB!!!
Review: Ken Follett has heavily researched and written a brilliant historical novel focusing on 12th century medieval Europe. In a word -- SUPERB!!! Do it again, Ken.

Summary: One of the Greatest Books I've read in a year
Review: This is a great book. I've heard people in Switzerland talking about it while going through the Chillion Castle. It opened my eyes to medieval architecture.

Summary: A BUILDING BLOCK FOR ANY LIBRARY
Review: I've always loved the 12th century time period. I started dating this guy who also had an affinity for it. He constantly went on about how fantastic this book was. I decided to read it so I would know what he was talking about. I have to admit the 900+ pages were a little intimidating, but I got through. I must say that it was easily one of the best books I have ever read. That's saying a lot from someone who doesn't really like historical fiction. This book would make an epic mini series or RPG. Patrick Stewert would be the PERFECT choice for Prior Philip. My only requirement.....Tarentino...keep your hands off of this one! Seriously though, I can't thank my darling Adam enough. READ THIS BOOK. IT'LL PUT YOU INTO ANOTHER WORLD!!!!!!!

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Like watching a great mini-series
Review: The book is 983 pages long but an easy read. The plot is filled with battles, castles, moats, love and murder; and the characters are vibrant. The central character of the book is Philip, a monk, and prior of the town of Kingbridge. The book takes place in 12th century England and is about the building of a cathedral in Kingbridge and all the hardships the characters must overcome. All characters are more interesting than mild mannered monk Philip yet more one-dimensional: People are good, bad, indifferent, stubborn, etc; but seem to have little room to change. This is the main flaw of the book. The supporting cast, while colorful, are more stereotyped. However, the strong plot makes up in momentum what the book lacks in depth. Follett is a good story teller, his characters are crisp, and his writing is not pretentious. This book is a joy to read.
