Summary: Intriguing
Review: I first read this book in the 8th grade, but would love to read it again, now. It is a wonderful piece of historical fiction. It drew me into the story so well that when I reached the last page I did not want it to truly be finished. I have never been so drawn into a story that I cared about the characters so deeply. Quite an epic story, and the first to capture my attention so intently. A definite "must-read." I've bought it for several friends.

Summary: Well researched and keeps your interest.
Review: Have read this book 3 times, unusual for me. This is not my period in history, but Ken Follet makes this a "let's check out this era" a definite possiblity. I would like to know more about Cathedrals, Monks, and the rest of his writing.

Summary: Finishing poor elaborated
Review: I've read it twice, first time in spanish and second one in english and the two of them I've finished the book thinking about how a marvellous history can be ended up that way (!!!). It looks like if Mr. Follet didn't know how finish it. I think it's a pity 'cause I liked very much... until the last 50 pages.

Summary: Interesting historical novel
Review: I found the historical content of the book, the building of cathedrals in England in the 12th centrury, very interesting, and I learned a good deal. However I found the book, as a novel, tediously written, full of creaky and obvious plot twists and thinly drawn characters. The book is twice too long for the story it tells: it could be cut in half and work much better as narrative. I found it annoying that the author does not provide any notes: what sources he used for his information, what characters are fictional and what are drawn from historical sources, etc.

But the author is famous, writes prodigiously and sells a lot of books, so who am I to criticize?

Summary: one of the best books ever!
Review: Although this book is lengthy, you wish it were that much longer just so you could keep on being involved with all the characters. Pillars of the Earth has everything you could ever want in a book - action, adventure, romance, horror, all wrapped up in one marvelous story! Highly recommended!

Summary: An absolutely MUST for adventuring souls
Review: This book is truly of epic dimensions. When you've read the first twenty pages you don't want to close the book before the very last page. Unlike many authors Ken Follett manages to grab the reader with his intense character descriptions. The best book I've read since the Chronicles and Legends of Dragonlance.

Summary: Excellent!!!!!!!
Review: Well written, great characters, an amazing book

Summary: If you like to read, or even if you dont, READ THIS BOOK !
Review: Pillars of the earth was the best book I have ever read....... by far. From the beginning to the end I was mesmerized with the characters and their rich history. I was also impressed with the research which Ken Follett obviously undertook to create such a great epic. The one point I wish to include is that even if you dislike Period Novels you will enjoy this one. To Categorize this book as boring historical fiction would mean missing out on one of the best reading experiences you will ever enjoy!

Summary: The best book I've ever read
Review: I couldn't do anything but read it until finishing. It's never happened to me. It is simply marvellous.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: remarkable story
Review: This book is the most wonderful story i have ever read. From a masons point of view to the young girl who lost everything; and gained it all back. A story of romance, bravery, and sadness. One book that will never be forgotten.
