Summary: It's about a teenager who trying to accommodate to that fact
Review: "A Candidate for Murder" is about a teenager, Cary, whose father is running for president, and is being stalked. The story begins at a party where a very annoying boy would not stop following Cary and taking pictures of her. So Cary decides that she would run outside where he would not be able to find her. She runs into a dark corner, just a couple minutes later Cary heard some men talking, but she was not really paying that much attention. Later on Cary found out that what she heard, she was not supposed to. That is where that whole seat-gripping story begins. This book is definitely one of the best books I have read. My favorite scary part in this book was probably when Cary was in her Dad's campaign office and it was after everyone had locked up and gone home and all of a sudden someone comes up to Cary and grabs her. I would definitely recommend this book to who anyone who like really scary books that you can't put down.

Summary: A Candidate for Murder- Joan Lowery Nixon
Review: "I told them, she wouldn't know. So she caught a word or two by accident. She couldn't put them together, I said. Leave her be. She's just a kid. It's a terrible thing to want to take away those years she's got ahead of her." If you asked the average person if they've ever read a murder mystery, they would most likely say yes. For that matter, I had too, and I hated it! I only read this book because I grabbed it off the shelf quickly from my school library as I rushed to english class one morning. But, little did I know what great luck I had in randomness! The second I opened this book it was interesting! It has a female for a main character, and the usual masked murderer, but much spookier since she's a young girl. It has a type of romance and friendship that is dramatically real. Cary leads you through every moment of doubt, discouragement, and suspense as if you were there. Overall, I think this is a very brave book because it touches on certain issues that it doesn't expand on that are not part of the main idea of the story. The pace never slows, only speeds up. I would recommend this book to everyone because it is every type of book!

Summary: I definetly would recommend this book. It was great!
Review: "Well, now he won't. You could say that because of his big mouth Gil is up a creek" Cary heard these words out on the darkened terrace and it changed the rest of her life during her father's campaign for the goveror of Texas. Cary starts to get strange calls warning her to be careful and someone is out to kill her! She was followed in her car while going home. Someone wrecks her dad's campaign office. At the banquet someone tries to kill her! This book will keep you in suspense until the end. It will make you wonder who is after Cary and why they are stalking her! I recommend this book to anyone who likes suspense and mystery! Can you figure out who is trying to kill Cary before it is too late?

Summary: Caught my attention, but not Joan Lowry Nixon's best...
Review: A Candidate for Murder includes everything a good teen book needs - romance, humor, politics, and mystery.

The story starts off with Cary trying to escape from a friend at a party. He kept taking pictures of her, following her, etc. and she decided to go outside for a breath of fresh air. When she was out on the terrace, she heard something that she never expected. She heard voices - not just any voices, pretty creepy sounding voices. And she heard one of them say "...he's gone, up the creek...his nosiness..." She didn't think anything of it, but once the voices found out that she was listening to them, she gets in trouble. Cary feels that she's being watched/stalked, but nobody believes her, until some seriously scary stuff starts to happen.

This book is pretty good. I'm a huge fan of Joan Lowry Nixon, and this is a good book...but it's not her best. I recommend it to fans of her books, but not to people that want to get introduced to a new author (for you guys, I recommend her book 'Spirit Seeker').

Overall grade - B

Summary: I would not recomend this book
Review: Although I really have liked all of Joan Lowery Nixon's other books, A Candidate for murder was really disapointing. There really didn't seem to be a point to the book until the end and the ending was totally sappy. I guess Joan Lowery Nixon had an off day.

Summary: Something amazing always comes out of her
Review: Another Joan Lowery Nixon book, they only seem to advance. Hate reading? Nixon makes sure you learn to love it! She's entertaining and at the same time thrilling. I've read two of her other books such as The Kidnapping of Christina Lattimore and Secret, Silent Screams and found them both spectacular! A Candidate for Murder was very fast pace, never dragging. Every time I picked the book up it was like a thriller roller coaster ride that I couldn't get off till I make it to the end. Nixon makes it so that you almost feel like your one of the characters, which leaves your heart racing. I really enjoyed reading this book. No wonder she's a Four-Time Edgar Award Winner who is always at her best!

Summary: I've seen better
Review: I have read many of Nixon's books, and this one just wasn't that great. The book was full of mystery, but it wasn't very exciting and was not very interesting. The characters were kind of dull. I didn't enjoy this book very much. If you want a good book by Joan Lowery Nixon, try "Whispers From The Dead," "The Seance," "The Other Side Of Dark," or "Secret, Silent, Screams."
