Rating: Summary: A Cut Above... Review: ...typical series aimed at teens. Jess Mastriani is the flawed but likeable teenaged heroine in When Lightning Strikes. A motorcycle-loving tomboy, Jess develops an unexpected 'gift' - the ability to find missing children after seeing their picture. How she copes with this ability which on the surface seems totally harmless forms the story of this book. When her gift ruins the lives of two people and threatens to harm her family, Jess is forced to rexamine whether just because she can find kids, she should. In an effort to fix her mistakes and protect her family, we met her friend Ruth, her Danish-eating guidance counselor,a kid on the lam, a few Hell's Angels, plus the back row of the W's, guys she spends time in detention with. When her ability attracts unwanted interest from the government it adds an X-Files like conspiracy subplot that puts in the story into high gear. Plenty of humor and with lots of adventure, there is still a lot about Jess we don't know that will hopefully be explored in her further adventures. I also recommend Code Name Cassandra, book 2 and am eagerly awaiting publication of the third, Safe House.
Rating: Summary: Hey, that's a book of psychic you're telepathic-ing!! Review: after two-days of reading, i found that this book is particularly satisfying. The writer is very superbly creative in bringing the characters alive, as such Jess Matsriani's character as a 16-year-old-teenager who doesn't give a damn about what other people thinks about her and this girl is quite a pain-on-the-butt. However, there is some part of the book in which I think is a little irrational. Do Jess's psychic powers do come out when she's sleeping? Obviously, I think telepathicp power works when someone's awake. I don't know why it goes that way but maybe Meg Cabot wants to make the story a little uncanny.
Rating: Summary: Teen Mom Loves this Series Review: As with Jenny Carroll's other si-fi romance series "The Mediator" -- she builds a strong main character -- a believable teen girl in a pure si-fi situation -- strong and confident but again able to pull off the sweet romance of first love.
Action/comedy/si-fi/romance!
Rating: Summary: Watch out... Review: because when lightning strikes, strange things can happen, as Jess Mastriani finds out when she wakes up one morning and knows exactly where the missing kids on the milk carton are, and soon she's in more trouble than she bargained for. This is one of the best books I've read in a long time. Jenny Carroll is definitely one of my favorite authors. Her books are funny, action packed, and I love her strong minded characters. Unlike in some books I've read, the main character (Jess), doesn't just sit there and do nothing. She plans, and then does it, which is what makes you keep reading the book, because you want to find out what happens next.
Rating: Summary: Awesome Review: I absolutely loved this book. I started reading it around midnight and I could not put it down. This book has a great and very creative storyline. Jess Mastriani is just a normal teenager until she gets struck by lightning and suddenly knows the whereabouts of missing children. This is another great series by Jenny Carroll and I can't wait to read the next three books!
Rating: Summary: When Lightning Strikes Review: I believe that this book, When Lightning Strikes was a fabulous and very intresting book. I believe that everyone should read it. When Lightning Stikes is about a girl,Jessica, who gets struck by lightning and then can find missing children. In a way it feels like a mystery that only she can solve, and no one else. I think that everyone should read this, and should read it. Good Luck!
Rating: Summary: Good idea, needs some work Review: I enjoyed the book When Lightning Strikes, but I think that it needs some more work. The story is really interesting and unusual but it doesn't play out as well as it could. I enjoy Meg Cabot's other series much better and think that they are better written. I did enjoy the book enough though that I am going to read the next book in the series, Code Name Cassandra.

Rating: Summary: Jess and her comming into her self and power. Review: I picked this book for my Girl Scout troop to read over the summer. I just loved it and can't wait to order more by this author and in this series. Jessica is a high school girl with a hi sprit. She is very protective of her older brother. That protective side to her gets her into trouble. She has a wonderful girl friend - Ruth, who she has known forever. She is struck by lightning and begins to know where missing children are. This changes her life in many ways. I also love the chracter - Rob. He sounds like any boy that a head strong girl would love. This is a great book for ages 11 to 15. I'm 36 and I loved reading it - I think you will too.
