Summary: A snappy twist
Review: Elizabeth Lowell save what otherwise would have been a slow, used plot with the quick and clever repartee of her characters. Honor is a desperate woman, on a quest for her brother. But she finds time along the way to trade insults and extremely fast-paced innuendo with Jake Mallory, who has an ulterior motive for helping her search.

At the end, whether or not you like the characters, and whether or not you are bored to tears by the plot, you will find a number of very quotable lines to add to your repetoir, and maybe a book to add to your collection.

Summary: Cliched and inane
Review: I was looking for something to read, so in desperation I picked up Elizabeth Lowell's Amber Beach. A story about the lost treasure that was once the legendary Amber Room of the Russian Czar sounded incredibly interesting and I was very much looking forward to starting this novel. I should have left it on the shelf. After only getting through two chapters, I could no longer stomach this book. The story starts off in such a way as to leave the reader floundering immediately in a plot that hasn't even remotely been explained. The dialogue was cliched and inane to the point of being nauseuous and I honestly did not care anything about the two main characters in this novel. The story would have been better served if Lowell had given much more background information regarding the reasons why these two individuals are being brought together in the first place. And a retelling of the legend of the Amber Room in the first chapter would have gone a long way toward making this a more interesting read. Instead, all I was left with was a badly written romance disguised as a pseudo-mystery novel.

Summary: An excellent Book ! Sexy and Suspensful
Review: I could not put this book down! The chemistry between Honor and Jake is awsome. The Amber storyline does get a little confusing, but if you stop trying to figure out all the political angles, and enjoy the characters, you will love this book. The suspense is great, you are keep wanting to read more to find out if Kyle (honor's brother and Jakes colleague)has turned bad, or has been framed. If you starting reading this book before going to bed, be prepared for a very long evening - It is very hard to put down!

Summary: UGH!
Review: The dialogue is so full of cliches, I struggled to make it through this one. As other reviewers have stated, the amber story line was hard to follow, and the characters were so un-realistic. What was supposed to have been clever banter between our hero and heroine left me feeling embarrassed for an author who has such a pathetic perception of wit. I bought this and the sequel on the same day, so I tried Jade . . . something or other . . . next. SAME REACTION! Same characters, new names. Same dialogue, absence of wit. BIG disappointment times two.

Summary: Amber Beach Is A Winner
Review: This is the first time I have read Elizabeth Lowell, someone recommended her to me. I enjoyed Amber Beach and can't wait to read the rest of the series. Jake and Honor make a good couple. Honor is hard-headed and has a quick wit about her, she really makes their relationship "interesting". I only had one problem with the book and that was that it was hard to understand about the "Amber Room" and all the politics surrounding it. All in all Amber Beach is a good read. Now I'm off to read the next book, Jade Island.

Summary: Thrilling
Review: Amber Beach was the first book by Elizabeth Lowell that I have read. My friend read it and passed on the information to me. In a few words, I can say that Amber Beach knocked me off my feet. After reading this book, I became so entrapped into the story that after I had finished it, I just had to read the other books that she had written. Amber Beach is a thrilling story based upon the Czar's Amber Room that immediately disappeared after World War I. The main characters are Honor Donovan, a sister who is determined to go after her (disappeared but presumed dead) brother. Jake Mallory is a rugged man aborbed by the brillant heat of Amber. His business was kicked out of many countries when he becomes framed of stealing the Amber Room. Jake goes undercover to help Honor Donovan find her brother, Kyle. The sweet part of this book is the fact that a sweet romance developes nicely as the story progresses. This book is passionately intense and has intense passion too! The Donovan family will warm your hearts as you read more and more about them. The Donovan saga continues into Jade Island and Pearl Cove. So do what I did and take my advice. Read Amber Beach and you won't be disappointed.

Summary: Amber Beach
Review: This is the first book I read in the Donovan family series. They wrap you up in the family and keep you hooked. There is some hot romance and a pretty good plot.

Summary: Elizabeth Lowell is GREAT
Review: I loved the characters in Amber Beach. The way they interacted with each other added to the story. I also liked the fact that romance was not the only theme in the book.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Very messy story line.
Review: Sorry, I did not like this story line. The subject of the story, "amber", was confusing so that I could never get a grip on what she was talking about. The story built around it was just as sloppy.

Summary: My #1 favorite!
Review: Amber Beach is my all time favorite from Elizabeth Lowell! Honor and Jake are they most engaging characters ever, and their passion sizzles! I couldn't put it down, I read it all in 1 day! The plot and characters are a stroke of pure genius! Elizabeth Lowell has outdone herself!
