Summary: LOVE THE DONOVANS AND JAKE TOO!
Review: I love all of the Donovan series books. This is the first in the series and introduces you to Honor Donovan. Of course Archer is involved, what would a Donovan book be without Archer?

Honor is searching for her favorite brother Kyle. Kyle is missing and is accused of murder and stealing the Amber Room. Honor's only hope of finding him lies in finding a fishing guide and learning how to operate the "Tomorrow". Jake Mallory is the fishing guide who Honor hires to help her learn to run the Tomorrow and learn to fish.

The stories is full of romance and adventure. If you love the Donovan's like I do, you will love this book.

Summary: An Okay start to a series
Review: This is the first book of the 'gems' series. Though there is a good mystery, the development of the chemistry between the lead characters did not keep my interest--as other Lowell novels have. The best thing about this book is that it does introduce some interesting characters that Ms. Lowell better developed in the other novels of this series. My recommendation--get through this one fast and move on to the others--they do get better and better!!

Summary: Excellent romantic suspense novel
Review: If you are a fan of romantic suspense novels and you haven't read Elizabeth Lowell's Donovan series, you're in for a treat. "Amber Beach" is the first in the series, and it's a fun, quick read. The plot is full of twists and turns, and it keeps you guessing right up until the very end. The lead characters are compelling, and the love scenes are sufficiently steamy to keep romance fans happy. The book is set in the San Juan Islands, and Lowell does an excellent job integrating the setting into the story. She is also an expert at weaving interesting background research into her books. Here, she not only educates you about all facets of amber and the amber trade, but she also makes the lesson very entertaining and a crucial part of the story. It's all a lot more interesting than you might have assumed. My only complaint is that I would have liked to see more interaction between Hope and Jake, the lead characters. Nevertheless, the chemistry between them is great and their witty banter makes for a fun read.

Summary: I'm addicted to the Donovans!!
Review: I read this book because I picked it up on vacation to pass the time. I ended up being completely in love with the Donovan family. I immediately had to read Jade Island. I now have all the Donovan books and wait in anticipation for Elizabeth to decide finish the series by writing about the twins!! Great book! Very interesting and suspensful. The characters are so well developed!

Summary: Excellent Read~
Review: I have only recently discovered EL but have read the entire "Donovon" series of which this is one. Even reading the series out of order is interesting, it makes one want to read more. Amber Beach was an excellent read. I thoroughly enjoy the descriptions of each locale. The character's are interesting and even though the romantic plot is predicatable it wasn't trite or boring. The sub-plots, however, are not predictable. I enjoyed the quick changes of pace and surprises near the end of the book. At some point you really fell like you are in the room or on the beach or in the car with the characters...a fun and interesting read.

Summary: she's just to slow!
Review: Elizabeth Lowell is the best when it comes to writing romances but I didn't like the way she wright's trillers. the story is good not unrealistic a lot but it seems that the romance in it slows it down too much. I don't know but this triller comes out as a very slow romantic story. you simply don't even feel the suspence!

Summary: Amber Beach
Review: I have read all 4 of the books in this series and enjoyed them very much. The history of all the gems that are in the books is very interesting and helps with the plot. The way Elizabeth Lowell writes you feel that you are a part of the family and can not wait to make sure everyone is safe and happy. The feelings of the people involved come through and leaves you with a good feeling that people can be truly commited to each other. There is not much of that in the world today. I have all of the books in paperback and have just finished aquiring them in hardback so that I can re-read them over & over. You always pick up something different every time you meet with the people. I would recomend any of Elizabeth Lowell's books , her writing really draws you into the story.

Summary: The first but not the last
Review: This is the first of the series. I've listened to this series many times and enjoy it more and more each time. The plot is great and the characters are colorful and well developed. When you finish one you can't wait to get the next one. I especially like the way characters from pervious books make appearances in subsequent books. This seems to be an original trait of Elizabeth Lowell's and one that makes this series easy to listen to over and over again. I listen to many suspense/mystery/romance series, but this one is without any doubt my absolute favorite.

Summary: My favorite Lowell
Review: I really liked this book, I couldn't put it down. I think I read it in about 2 days. It's the first of the Donovan series (Jade Island, Pearl Cove, Midnight in Ruby Bayou) I only wish there were more books in this series, each book focuses on a particular Donovan sibling and it seems to me that there's still two that don't have books (the twin boys, Justin and Lawe?) Anyway, what I really liked about this book was that the woman, Honor, is a fully developed character and somewhat of a feminist type. She's not just primping around trying to find a husband but looking for her brother and giving lessons how it shouldn't be "fisherman" when referring to a woman but "fishersan." Also, the information about Amber is really interesting and a bonus. Living in Seattle, I enjoyed the setting and actually bought it because of the Seattle setting and cover. This was my first Lowell book, I'm glad I read it.

Summary: Wonderful!!
Review: I could not put this book down! The story line was interesting without being tedious with the history of the Amber Room. I am hooked on the Donovan family escapades and I can't wait for the rest of the books in the series!
