Rating: Summary: switch on to The Switch Review: I can't stress how entrancing the characters in this novel are. Brown is ingenious when it comes to "taking you there" I could hardly put this book down, and often found myself biting at my finger nails, and talking out loud. feelings, emotions, abeyance, and passion are definitely brown's niche! A great late night read. Very sexy, fun, and thrilling. Lot's of twists that aren't as easy to guess...
Rating: Summary: I'm 18 years old and I loved this book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Review: From the very start of this novel, I was hooked! I absolutely fell in love with the characters. This is the first book of Brown's that I have ever read, and I loved it so much I found myself looking up reviews on the internet. I was really disappointed to see the few people that didn't appreciate it as much as I did. Even after I'd finished the book, I found myself disappointed that it was over. I would recommend this book to anyone and everyone!
Rating: Summary: Deliciously Suspenseful Read Review: Identical twins Melina and Gillian Lloyd agree to switch places for the evening. Gillian pretends to be Melina when she escorts astronaut Christopher "Chief" Hart to a dinner banquet. The two don't part after dinner, but instead spend most of the night together. But nothing could have prepared Chief for the following morning when he discovers that Gillian was viciously murdered, and he may have been indirectly responsible. Though the Dallas Police Department finds Gillian's murder an open and shut case, Melina is not convinced. Neither is Hart, as together, they embark on a quest to discover the real reason that Gillian was murdered. In doing so, they place themselves and whoever they touch in grave danger. Believable characters, an intricate story line, and climactic suspense make this a read to be savored. In a unique twist to this novel, the inclusion of twins as an essential element manages to keep the reader guessing and leaves the hero in a tortuous dilemma as he reconciles his feelings for both twins. Suspense at its very best, THE SWITCH constantly reveals seemingly unimportant clues that make the ending crystal clear.
Rating: Summary: This was a real disappointment Review: I usually like Brown's books, but this one left me cold. As avid mystery readers, her characters did some of the most basic stupid things I've ever read. The Chief is hiding out and call his hotel and has his clothes sent to where he is hiding out - how stupid is that. And the police questioning everyone in one room at the same time? It was hard to get into the book after reading these lame plot developments. In fact I left the book in my rental car, having read it only half way and did'nt bother to buy a replacment.
Rating: Summary: Sex, Twins and Murder - What's Not To Like! Review: We used this unabridged audio book to pass the time on a recent trip to Milwaukee. The plot of The Switch is intricate, well crafted and clever enough to draw you in and keep you guessing right until the end. The sex scenes were a little much and I'm glad we were not travelling with young children. Despite all of the clues (and the title of the book), we were still guessing "who done it" right up 'till the last chapter. The main character - an astronaut named "Chief" - was a bit over the top. I mean, how many of us could name any NASA commander, let alone name one that could inspire groupies and squire women like Elvis? If you enjoy excellent writing, a brisk pace and surprising twists and turns, you will enjoy The Switch.
Rating: Summary: Real Thriller! Review: What a fantastic story! Sandra Brown has out done herself. This is one of her best works yet. This story is a real page-turner! The outcome is completely unpredictable, was suspenseful and mysterious and all and all a great read! The Switch is a murder mystery revolving around identical twin sisters. Gillian and Melina Lloyd switched identities the night of Gillian's murder. Melina is a media escort and is worried about the guy Gillian is seeing. Trying to get her to date other men, she switches places with her sister and Gillian escorts NASA astronaut colonel Christopher (Chief) Heart to the dinner planned in his honor. The next morning, Melina is told, Gillian has been murdered. Melina doesn't believe the police are doing everything probable to bring her sister's killer to honesty. She begins her own exploration. Chief was so taken with Gillian that he stays on in the city to help Melina solve the crime. The story shows the never-ending bond between twins and has an unexpected curl at the very end.
Rating: Summary: Just loved it. Review: I have read all her books, and although this one isn't my all time favorite, it is up on that list. I was hooked from the beginning to the end. I loved the main characters and the plots. The twists and turns were exciting yet sometimes crazed. Ofcourse it had its turns of unbelievabilty, but its fiction. I don't read romantic fiction too much centered on reality. I want an outlet to enter into a world where my imagination can run wild and have fun. And that is exactly what her books give me.
Rating: Summary: Some Good Twists, But a Bit Hollow! Review: While I enjoy Sandra Brown and will continue to read her novels, I did feel like I was caught between a dime romance novel and a real mystery writer's novel in this particular storyline--The Switch. A lot of the writing struck me as a bit over the edge--contrived, and reality was completely lacking in some areas. That being said, the premise was a great one and the idea was inventive and not overdone. However, overall, I would have preferred a few more blemishes on the characters and more chill, less thrill and less of a feeling that I was looking at a hyped-up soap-opera. There were some nice twists and turns, but I was anxious to get to the end, so I could find something more substantial to read. Too much butter on the popcorn, Sandra. I would rather use my own imagination than have everything so set up for me. It just wasn't a thinking woman's suspense novel, in my opinion.
Rating: Summary: Interesting idea, but... Review: While the premise of the plot was interesting and original, I found the story let me down. The characters, presented as extremely intelligent and strong, continue to do and say idiotic things that just don't make sense. Certain plot twists are very contrived and over the edge. As I listened to the book on unabridged audio, I kept thinking to myself, "She'd never do that or say that" and in the end, it still didn't make sense. Basically, while the story was interesting, I just didn't buy it as believable in any way.
Rating: Summary: I loved it Review: I usually don't listen to books on tape because they really don't convey the meaning of the entire work. This was the exception. I checked this out at the library so I would have something to listen to on a long commute. I was engrossed from the beginning. Even though the tape features one voice, I could actually distiguish the character's voices. Of course there is nothing better than the actual book, but this is one of the best audio tapes I have listened too.
