Summary: the ending a surprise??
Review: I don't understand how the ending could have been a surprise. It was so predictable. How could Melina know the name and address of the killer if she wasn't at the restaurant and never went to the clinic. All Chief said about him was that he worked at Waters and had glasses. She then calls the clinic and asks for him by name? From that point on, the ending was so obvious and all other hints seemed ridiculous. I even guessed about Chief's father. The only surprise was the hystertomy which didn't add much to the thriller.

Summary: Identical Twins Switching Places
Review: Identical 37-year old twins Melina and Gillian Lloyd decide to switch places one evening when Melina, media consultant, is scheduled to accompany famous astronaut Chief Hart to an awards ceremony. Gillian had just that day undergone an artificial insemination procedure since she was anxious to become a mother, even though she wasn't yet married. Unfortunately, her decision to accompany Chief Hart that evening and act on her fatal attraction to him resulted in her death at the hands of a deranged employee from the clinic where she had been inseminated. Melina, when told the next morning of the brutal slaying of her beloved sister, admitted that they had switched places.

Melina becomes obsessed with finding and taking revenge on her sister's murderer. When the blame is quickly placed upon the clinic employee, who conveniently committed suicide the next day, Melina is not convinced that he was acting alone. He was associated with a religious organization called the Temple that was run by a megalomaniac, Brother Gabriel.

Melina teams up with Hart to find the real reason why her sister was killed. They flee from one dangerous situation to another to avoid two pursuers who seem intent on killing them. The action is fast-paced, and the twists and turns of the plot will keep you turning pages rapidly. The surprise ending brings together all the loose plot lines into a tidy package with a satisfying conclusion.

Summary: only one thing wrong
Review: I thought this was one of the best books I have ever read. However, there's that part that just does not make sense. In this case everything to me was perfect except for the sleeping arrangments. Without giving the story away, does anyone else know what I am talking about?

Summary: Good Idea, Ineptly Done
Review: I'd never read Sandra Brown, and, based on "The Switch," won't look to read more.

A potentially interesting plot was ruined by ludicrous dialogue, unbelievable characters, and extremely unlikely plot twists (even allowing for the initial premise). And anyone who was surprised by the ending ought to be ashamed.

No, wait. That's not true. Readers who thought early on that they had spotted the ending were encouraged to think otherwise by the fact that in several places Brown refers specifically to Melina out of the context of a conversation. E.g. on page 344 a new chapter section begins: Melina repeated to Chief the half of the conversation that he hadn't overheard. Well, it wasn't Melina, we find at the end, so Brown effectively set up a climax, as it were, that made no sense.

Too bad. Identical twins can make for interesting reading, but they don't make the grade here.

Summary: Brown NOT At Her Best
Review: This is the most disappointing Sandra Brown book I've read. It's as if she wrote this book without an outline. I had the whole cliche plot figured out by 1/4 way through the book and I felt bored as I dragged myself through the rest of it. (The only reason I finished it was because I had to for a book report, otherwise I would have tossed it!) The love interest wasn't believable. It seemed as if "Chief" was still in love with Melina's dead twin and no love interest even began to develop with Melina until the book was almost finished! It was rushed as if the love plot was a last thought and it wasn't believable at all. I love Sandra Brown and her writings but this didn't do it for me. In fact, because this was so disappointing, I'll probably pass on her novels for awhile. My advise, don't waste your time and money with this one. It'll just be a major let down.

Summary: Best one of Sandra Brown!
Review: I have read a lot of Sandra Brown this summer. I thought the Alibi was a great book until I read this one. I could not put it down. It took some turns through the book but the surprise ending blew me away! If you want a great mystery book give this one a try. The story was very unique and interesting. I really enjoyed this one and I can actually say that I am sad that I finished it. Now off to find another one just as good! Give this a try!

Summary: The Switch - A powerful twist !
Review: After the first few pages of te book I was so hooked that I could not put it down. The book is well written and it was hard for me not to read the last page to see how it was going to end. Gillian & Melina are look-alike twin sisters and for one night they decide to switch their place but the switch will prove to be fatal..... And the end of the book is quite a surprise ! This book is a definite keeper !!

Summary: Love and murder with a twist, please!
Review: One of the best suspense romances I've read, Brown pulls out all the stops on this one. She pulled me right in and blew my mind with the twist in the last few chapters! I couldn't put it down and when I finished it, I bought the unabridged audio, which was better.

Summary: Wish I switched to another book earlier.
Review: Boring, predictable and excrutiatingly difficult to get through. Come on, Sandra, the past has proven that you can do better than this.

Summary: Fun escapism
Review: This was a book that draws you in from the beginning. I had not read this author before, but enjoyed the book immensely (after my previous book being a sappy romance predictable novel). Mystery, plot, and just interesting characters make it worth your time. Some story lines were predictable, while a good many were not. I really enjoyed reading this one. It passed the sure sign of a good book--keeping me up later at night just to get in a few more pages!
