Rating: Summary: This is what they mean by trash. Review: Creepy and pointless.
Rating: Summary: One of my favorite books this year! Review: The Switch by Sandra Brown is one of my three favorite books out this year, so far. A real page turner. A book I think everyone might enjoy reading!
Rating: Summary: Only for those intrigued by twins switching plot Review: I don't really know how to rate this book. On one hand once it started I didn't want to put the book down. It hooked me right away. On the other hand, I really didn't like the story - and the conclusion was even worse. In all fairness, I would never have read this book based on the description on the back cover. I gave it a chance because I've read many other Sandra Brown books and loved them all except her very old ones. Essentially, I think that anyone who is intrigued by the summary will enjoy this book. Anyone who is initially turned off by a man being attracted to the twin sister of a woman he slept with hours before she was murdered probably won't enjoy the book, despite a conclusion that tries to explain that away.
Rating: Summary: Brown does it again! Review: Identical twins Melina and Gillian Lloyd switch places. Gillian is brutally murdered. She was chosen. Melina is her identical twin - is she next? Even though she is in danger she must find out who killed her sister. I loved Melina's determination in putting the puzzle together. It's nice to read about a smart, strong-willed woman. Tough to put down. So absorbing that I could read even when my family had the TV on. I enjoy reading her books. Her writing style is comfortable for me. She creates strong female characters and always includes a handsome guy for the love interest. There's a shocker at the end. I didn't see it coming. You've got to read this one.
Rating: Summary: The Switch Review: Extremely Good, had a very surprising ending. If you enjoy a story with many twists & turns you will enjoy this.
Rating: Summary: Things do NOT make sense! Review: I picked this book hoping to look for some unordinary, clever story twist, but I was disappointed. Well the story did introduce the "switch" factor, switching the twins in their places, but a few things went on after the murder were not convincing. Why did Gillian hate her boyfrined that much after the murder? She could not even bear his company. The sudden change of attitude was not well explained. Shouldn't Gillian have felt hurt and betrayed when the boyfriend flirted and made inappropriate advances to another woman so soon - we are talking the night "she" was murdered? No emotional account of that fr the author either. Why did Gillian have to drive to Melina's house to sleep after the escort job? Don't forget it was 2 sth in the morning. Wouldn't it be easier to sleep in your own couch? I would do that even visiting a friend, let alone a twin or sibling that close as the author claimed to be was sleeping in my house. These are just a number of things that are out of syn to me. Maybe Sandra Brown should do a logic and sense check on her story before turning it to the publisher. Readers do not just take in everything they read; they also brain-scan!
Rating: Summary: A Give-Away Title Review: Although the title somewhat gives away the entire mystery in the storyline, it nonetheless does not take anything away from the many twists and turns within this wonderfully well-written story about twins who decide to switch places at the cost of one life! This was my first Sandra Brown book and while I don't think she's a "James Patterson," her story was a page-turner and it became increasingly more difficult for me to put this book down each night. An excellent mystery, beautiful love scenes, and memorable characters. I think even if you didn't particulary care for mysteries, you would enjoy this one. The Switch is also an excellent reading club discussion book.
Rating: Summary: Warning - Spoiler in this Review Review: The plot of this book contained holes so big you could drive a Mac truck through them. The biggest disappointment was the relationship between the indentical twin sisters, and it was this that made the story totally unbelievable for me. Gillian comes home to her own house at 230 in the morning, talks to Melina, and then leaves for Melina's house to sleep for the rest of the night "because Melina was already there"? Any normal person would have slept in her own spare bedroom - or on the couch! This is just one example of the problems I had with this storyline - the others, such as the end being totally predictable and annoyance with the hero's foul mouth - have already been discussed. A much better storyline would have had Gillan really murdered - thus eliminating the contrived sleeping arrangements - and Chief having to deal with the fact that he did fall in love with his lover's identical twin sister. I agree with many of the other reviewers - SB is not improving with age. I much prefer her earlier romances - without the suspense, which was non-existent in this novel anyway.
Rating: Summary: Not bad for those new to Sandra Brown Review: As a first time reader of Sandra Brown I found the book pretty good. It's an enjoyable, leisurely read for those just looking to unwind a little and be able to put a book down whenever. The story was overall interesting. The only annoyance I really couldn't forget was the repetitive use of some words and phrases. I guess on that front, maybe I should agree with others that the book was a little too long.
Rating: Summary: worst read ever Review: This was the first book I ever read by Sandra Brown and I can say i'll never pick up another one. There was absolutly no romance in the novel at all. I had read good reviews about the book so i decided to pick it up. But the charactors in the story turned out to be very flat, with no real sense of personality. When "Gillian" one of the twin sisters dies all "Melina" could think about was herself. She cried a couple times, but to me she seemed more worried about herself than the loss of her sister. Oh and whats up with him (chief the "hero"of the story) asking on the first encounter with her "hey are we gonna have sex or what" oh thats just patheticly unromanting. The book was too long and boring. The love seens were grotesque...This book was so bad that i couldn't even finish it or stand to look at it rather so it went into the trash. If I could give this book negative stars I would. Unless you like flat charactors telltale plots and pornograghic love scenes I DO NOT REQUEST THIS BOOK!!
