Summary: Don't Waste Your Time Unless You Have a LONG Commute
Review: I have so many problems with this book. I will enumerate only a few.

The dialogue includes multi-syllabic words uncommon in everyday conversation. I.e, Chief states, when reflecting upon how he felt looking at the earth from outer space, "I just felt superfluous." This coming from an astronaut who has not used a word with more than 2 syllables until the 25th chapter. Many of the sentences composed by Ms. Brown are stilted and discordant because of the somewhat advanced vocabulary she has chosen. These advanced words just pop up sporadically and do nothing to add to the story's fluency. In fact, they detract from the flow.

I did not feel that the story was written by someone of Ms. Brown's extensive experience. Perhaps she is just getting lazy. Many times the book read like an immature 9th grader had actually been the one doing the writing. Although she has created an interesting (but not irresistible) plot, it seems that oftentimes she is just stringing along some words (that often don't sound very good together) to get the book finished and off to the publisher. I personally find mysteries with a psychotic freak as the central criminal figure a little trite and too easy. There are so many of those type of stories to choose from.

Also, the reading by Jane Maxwell was v. bad. She made everyone's sentences sound so over-the-top dramatic. Very annoying. Perhaps I would have liked this book a little bit more if I had read it myself. And the cataclysmic surprise at the end becomes obvious by, say, the 12th chapter. (However, by the end, certain character inconsistencies are explained-so just bear with 'em if you plan on reading this book despite all the bad reviews-for me, while I was reading, the inconsistencies were extremely annoying.)

Summary: Switchy Business
Review: The bond between twins, some say is like that of no other. In some instances twins can read each othere minds, and can even feel each others pain. In the book The Switch Melina suggests to Gillian, her identical twin sister to switch places with her. Melina and Gillian haven't done this since they were kids, but Melina thinks that this will take Gillians mind off of some of her problems.Gillian declines Melina's and decides to spend the night at home, due to her recent artificial insemination. Melina,a media escort offered her sister a chance to meet Colonel Christopher Hart, a really hot NASA astronaunt with an indian background that up until now has failed to embrace. Melina and Gillian part their ways after lunch. The next morning Melina is awakened by the Dallas Police Department telling her that her sister has been murdered. When Melina see's the obsenities written on the wall of Gillians bedroom she feels anger and vows to avenge her sisters death, even after the case is closed and Gillians murderer is found dead in his home.Brother Gabriel a highly religoous leader has attracted audiences and followers all over the world. He has people practically beging to be part of his "project" and live in the highly guarded estate. His role in the book doesn't play out till the end. I wondered as I was reading where Brother Gabriel fit into the book and it was quite shoking when I found out.
Together Melina team up with Hart to find out why her sister was REALLY murdered. Hart is helping because the words on the wall were geared tword Native Americans and he also feels guilty about some other things but if I told you them then you wouldn't be surprised. Melina gets a call from the FBI telling her that there have been other crimes linked to Gillians. Melina agrees to meet with them but when 2 men show passing themselves off as FBI agents and try attacking her Melina begins to fear that her life is in danger.
On the run with Melina, Colonel Hart runs straight into his Native American heritage. He has up until now he hated that he was part indian, but now, for the first time in his life is embracing his heritage.
Melina and Gillian always told each other everything, and Melina begins to wonder why Jem Hannings Gillians "supposed" fiance is lying to her and acting really strange.Melina finds some rather astonishing news out about Hannings and begins to become suspicious of him.
This is just the beginning of the amazing plot in the book. To all you women who have ever been artificially inseminated you may find The Switch a little unnerving. The storyline is easy to follow, even when there is a change in characters. As I read some of the parts seemed irrelevant and boring in the first couple chapters, then when I got to the end I was able to see the parts I thought were boring and irrelevant actually fit in with the book at the end. Also the likihood of what happened in this book doesn't seem that far-fetched after hearing about how those people a few years ago committed suicide beacause their leader told them to, and that God was coming back.
If you are looking for action, drama, and suspence The Switch provides all of that plus more. It takes a while for the book to really pick up, but once it does good luck putting it down, becasue it's next to impossible. It was packed with tons of surprising information that kept me reading, when I wanted to change books.
How could I write a review and forget the ending. If you want a shocker of and ending read this book. The ending is unbelieveable and kept me guessing up till the very end. If your good with detective work you may be able to figure out half of the ending but there is no way you are going to figure out the other half. So, when you get to those boring parts that I talked about earlier, keep reading because the end is worth it all. What was also great about this book was that I could see how some of the clues made sence and fit together at the end. I would highly recommend this book, you won't be dissapointed, at least I wasn't.

Summary: Twins die hard
Review: The Switch by Sandra Brown is a very good murder mystery with a dash of romance. Fast-paced, the story is about twin sisters, one of whom is murdered, and moves from the mundane to the weird and then back again.

Twin sisters Melina and Gillian Llyod have always been able to confuse people with their indenticalness and though they each now lead different lives as adults the temptation to Switch places is still there; only this time it ends with one of them being killed. Neither is married, and at age 40 both are still beautiful and alluring to the opposite sex.

One twin's murder leads the other on a search for her murder and in the process she discovers the murder was more than just a creep's warped idea of morality.

From Dallas, Texas to a New Mexico Indian Reservation Ms. Lloyd and her friend (Chief) Christopher Hart are tracked by the bad guys as they follow the trail of the murderer. The authorities are right behind them too as they have learned more about the bad guys and this leads all of them to the retreat of a world-wide evanglist who is a meglo-maniac.

Many twists and turns. Good story line. Fun reading.

Summary: OH MY GOSH
Review: Great book. This is the first of Sandra Brown's books that I have read. I actually purchased it a year or two ago and it has been just sitting on my bookshelf until about a week ago. The perspective of the story is amazing. This is one of the only or at least of the few books where even though they tell you who did it right away, you don't know why. The other interesting thing about this book is how normally when you read a suspense novel you know things the characters don't. Well in the Switch, it is just the opposite. The characters know and sense things before you do and you don't find out until something major happens. I was completely unprepared for the ending. But I love that about this book.

Summary: Twisted twin sister tale...
Review: Melina Lloyd is a media escort, someone who guides celebrities and high profile individuals through their daily schedule. Her twin sister Gillian is undergoing artificial insemination through a donor program. Melina is scheduled to escort Christopher "Chief" Hart, NASA's first Native-American astronaut, to a gala dinner in his honor. The sisters decide to switch places in order to give Gillian's mind a pleasurable diversion from her emotionally gripping experience. The plot thickens when Gillian is found murdered the next day and suspicion falls on Chief Hart, the last person to see her alive.

Sandra Brown deftly weaves us in and out of madness, mayhem and murder with a gritty cast of characters. I cannot say much more without giving the entire plot away, but suffice it to say that this story, while not her greatest writing, is certainly very clever and engaging. I was particularly fond of how the author describes with vigor the plight of Native Americans.

THE SWITCH is a novel that twists and turns and twists again until the very shocking, unforgettable ending.

Summary: Horrible
Review: Okay people,

I have no clue what is going on in Sandra Brown's mind, but she has lost me as a reader. The last two books of hers have done it for me. Alibi was lame , boring and horrible and this is right behind it.
I give her a bit more credit here for a more interesting plot. Though it made me shake my head because here we go again, let's see how many social issues and points can be cramped in a book.
I am shocked. I LOVED her books so much and couldn't wait for the new one to come out. What is going on? Sooo unbelieveable and chewed up and spit out . Yes it is fast moving. But partially because she either freaks you out or you skip forward to avoid falling asleep because it is so lame.
But she writes so deep and brutal and twisted stories now that haunt you for nights and days after you are done reading. Where are the good books like Exclusive? Great book. She is going over the deep end. I can't even put my thoughts in words. I would need pages to describe my disappointment. Absolutely not a book to buy.
Anyone interested in starting with her books, read the previous ones like Exclusive, and from that time period... those are books that show her talent. She is really going off the deep end.
Sorry.

P.S. Anyone interested to do artificial ins.... don't read this. It will scare you and make you wonder.

See, that is her talent.. she can create situations so that you feel it could be real and such... but still she has gone over the deep end. Sorry.

Summary: Fast, pacy and exciting
Review: Although some purists might argue that Sandra Brown plots don't make complete sense, I still found The Switch to be breathtakingly fast, full of twists and turns and as sexy as all get out!!
Identical twins become unwittingly involved with a cult lead by a charismatic meglomaniac who is intent on repopulating the world in his image. To write about the details would be to give away too much of the plot. It's a very quick read and, for me, a can't -put-downer!

Summary: A Great Book
Review: Gillian and Melina Lloyd are a pair of identical Dallas twins who switch places with each other.Gillian switches places with her twin, a media escort, and chauffeurs sexy astronaut, Chief Hart, around town. Suspicion falls on Chief Hart when Gillian's mutilated body is found the next day.

Gillian's cocky boyfriend, Jem Hennings, has a vested interest in focusing police efforts on Hart, but Melina has her own reasons for thinking him wrong. Jem's connection with a charismatic preacher known as Brother Gabriel is at the heart of this mystery, in which Melina tracks Brother Gabriel to his lair and uncovers his diabolical plot while simultaneously revealing her own dark secret. The ending has some really good parts, including some sex scenes that are better than most of romantic thrillers of this sort.

This is definitely a book typical of Brown's writings.I recommend it to anyone who likes a good mystery.

Summary: Not Typical Brown But Entertaining Just The Same!
Review: "The Switch" by Sandra Brown is a wonderful way to spend an afternoon. Not your typical Brown write, but nontheless enjoyable.

Twins, Murder, Romance and Suspense will have the reader swiftly turning the pages.

The characters are beleivable, the dialogue sharp, and the plot intriguing, but a little farfetched, but even so, I found it most entertaining.

Summary: Not one of Brown's best
Review: I like Sandra Brown, but this novel didn't pack the punch that some of her other novels do. I guess the problem is that we believe throughout most of the novel that the hero is in love with someone other than the heroine. That takes all the romance out of it. Throughout most of the book, you're wondering how Melina can be so understanding of the hero's love for her sister, although she herself is falling in love with the hero (even though the end resolves all, it's too late by that time to get into the romance). I mean, what woman wouldn't be fit to be tied if her lover screams someone else's name while in the throes of passion. This novel wasn't terrible, but it isn't one that I'd recommend. Brown's Breath of Scandal is much better (in fact, it's her best, in my opinion).
