Rating: Summary: A Very Disappointing Book! Review: After attempting to read The Target a few months ago, I decided not to waste my money on another Coulter mystery. However, because the cover of Eleventh Hour looked interesting and past books were by Coulter were enjoyable reads (The Maze), I bought the book. I was not able to finish it---and I certainly won't inflict this book on a friend! The characters were weak and one dimensional and the dialogue was stilted, silly and unrealistic. Please, Ms. Coulter--re-read your older books and find out what you're missing now!!
Rating: Summary: No More! Find a new Genre! Review: This is my first book by this author, and I have to say that I am quite disappointed. The only reason I labored through it was to learn what not do in my own writing. Filled with cliches, whimsical writing, flat characters, a boring predictable plot, redundancies, unclear motives, silly descriptions, useless information that doesn't add to character development, what appears to be a lack of knowledge of FBI and police procedure (they couldn't act so stupid), forced and childish dialogue, unrealistic situations, unrealistic character relationships, choppiness, inconsistencies ... This books is a parody of a well-written story. I am glad I borrowed it from the library and didn't purchase it. I can back up all of the things I have said above with multiple examples... and I think the worst two things were the forced and ridiculous dialogue which didn't help with characterization at all and the lack of motivation for both good and bad guys. As I said, this is a perfect text to show a new writer what not to do.
Rating: Summary: A Very Disappointing Book! Review: The dialogue in this amateurish attempt at a crime thriller is laughable. The characters are flat, the plot predictable, and the dialogue is perfectly tedious. Ms. Coulter's expertise is in historical romance, not in this genre. I would like to ask for my money back on this (audio edition) because it was so horrible. If you want to roll your eyes a lot, check it out from the library. Save your money.
Rating: Summary: Give me my money back! Review: I have read all of Catherine Coulter's books in the last seven years, and spent a good chunk of money on them. Not only was this one chock full of bad dialogue, gruesome crimes and ridiculous cliches, but it didn't even deliver the cheesy thrills and romance I was expecting! To top it all off, Coulter (perhaps related to Ann?) goes off on several vicious political tangents that really alienated me as a reader. Hey Ms. Coulter, your loyal fans give you hard-earned money for some entertainment, not your own views on how immoral public defenders are (thanks so much) or what you think of the impeachment scandal! Either Ms. Coulter has lost her touch, or she needs to hire a new ghost-writer.
