Rating: Summary: The perfect book for a steady read Review: I've read a lot of Nora Roberts books and this is one of my favorites. It combines all the great aspects of romance, action/adventure and mystery. The book starts out with a great introduction of the characters. I really liked them because they were so real. They were average everyday people that when you read about them can say, "yeah, I know someone just like that," or, "that is so typical of a guy." You have Matthew Lassiter, a muscle-bound hard case that you just know inside is softer then the softer side of Sears. Then our heroine, Tate Beaumont, who while is the lovable daughter, is also the tough deep diver. Then you have the comic relief, Matts' uncle Buck and the sweet but adventurous parents, Ray and Marla Beaumont. Then, as the perfect offset, you have the bad guy, Silas VanDyke. And of course, to tie it all together, they are all in search of Angeliques Curse; a long lost jeweled amulet that is supposedly cursed. Doesn't get much better then that right? Wrong, because even with all this, you get the pleasure of all the secrets being hidden beneath the ocean; an ocean full of darkness and hidden treasures. And while it may sound like you typical treasure hunt type of book, it is uniquely separated it into three parts. Past, present and future. This way, when you read, you have a good idea of what's happening, where it's happening, when it's happening and to whom it's happening to. (A mouth full I know.) Anyway, I really recommend this book, especially for people that read on and off. It's a "take with you anywhere" kind of book. It is a great love found, love lost book. It also gives you enough detail to vividly imagine the scenery. The only bad thing I can say about this book is while the characters themselves are great, their interaction with each other is a bit sketchy. Never the less I strongly recommend this book- it's a keeper.
Rating: Summary: A Fun and Exciting Read! Review: "The Reef" by Nora Roberts is a wonderful read, which delves into the fascinating world of undersea treasure hunting. This book is fast-paced and highly suspenseful, and is sure to entertain. Marine archaeologist Tate Beaumont and salvager Matthew Lassiter are forced to work together, eight years after Matthew broke Tate's young and impressionable heart. Matthew and Tate's father have joined forces to search out and find the treasure of a lifetime, Angelique's Curse. Tate is less than thrilled with the partnership, and she and Matthew circle each other warily as their adventure begins. But they aren't the only ones searching for this priceless amulet. Tate's former employer, a cruel and calculating millionaire responsible for killing Matthew's father many years ago, will stop at nothing to possess Angelique's Curse himself. Which puts Matthew and Tate directly in his way and in a whole lot of danger! Roberts has crafted a highly enjoyable tale that is sure to please readers. The suspense is gripping and the relationship between Tate and Matthew is witty, passionate, and intriguing. I guarantee "The Reef" will keep you turning pages as Roberts' masterful writing sweeps you away to a world of sunken treasure and danger on the high seas!
Rating: Summary: Loved it! Review: I loved the adventure in this book. Diving for treasure is exciting enough, but then Tate is paired up with Matthew and the tension begins to heat up. Roberts' characters are real and enjoyable, I loved Tate and Matthew, and adored Tate's parents. Matthew's uncle was a quite a character as well. This is a great read - one of my favorites by Nora Roberts.
Rating: Summary: What A Treasure! Review: I first read "The Reef" in a college-level Creative Writing class. It is a finely crafted book. The main characters have internal and external motivation, are very sympathetic and I was hoping they'd solve their differences so badly. Even if the characters weren't great, it all fits so well into this lovely underwater setting that this book made me want to go hunting for sunken treasure. And I also like how the story spans years. I enjoyed Angelique's Curse; how it added a mystery, and history. The antagonist was sufficiently creepy to make the horrid actions believable. All the characters are memorable, and well fleshed out.

Rating: Summary: IN SEARCH OF "ANGELIQUE'S CURSE" Review: I've only read a handful of Nora Roberts' books so I'm no expert on this master of romance. My one complaint with most of these books is that they are very rote and mundane. It's the same old thing everytime but with a different setting. Fortunately, Roberts' style and research saves this book from becoming overly predictable. The setting is the West Indies and the quest is the search for "Angelique's Curse", a jewel encrusted amulet that has a history of bringing bad luck to the owner. Beautiful, young Tate Beaumont is a marine archeologist, who is on her parent's boat when she meets Matthew Lassiter, on another boat with his family of salvage divers. Tate is immediately smitten with the handsome, athletic Matthew but there is no immediate "happily every after story" yet. They part ways and meet up again years later to search for the amulet. Behind all this is Silas Van Dyke, a ruthless businessman who will stop at nothing to get what he wants. He was also responsible for the death of Matthew's father years ago and Matthew will not rest until he evens the score. The scenery is beautiful and the reader is exposed to all the nuances of deep sea diving. I bought this book because the jacket cover was so beautiful and I must admit that I was not disappointed with the written pages on the inside.
Rating: Summary: absolute best of Roberts Review: "The Reef" had my attention at the very beginning. There is everything that you could want from a novel: mystery, romance, murder, wonderful characters, an actual plot, adventure. The one thing that is beautiful about this book is that it contains an actual plot and is not just senseless making out. The love story is gripping and the lovers are great. Matthew and Tate are opposites, yet so alike at the same time. The book takes place in 3 parts: past, present, and the future. in the beginning you may feel a little lost about Tate and Matthew's love because it happens so quick, but the first part of the book is the past, so you really don't see their point of views until later. There definately needs to be a sequel to this book, because the ending is sooooo wide open. It's okay if you don't like it or if you do like it, but either way you won't be able to put it down.
Rating: Summary: adventure, romance - wasn't able to put it down Review: this was a really great book: the story was great (big "quest") and I loved the characters. bravo!
Rating: Summary: Loved it! Review: I have read this three times, and each time I find something new. I really enjoyed the suspense and intrigue - and what better setting than some beautiful island! I didn't find it predictable - keeps you going til the end. Nora Roberts writes really good mystery-romance. If you like this, try Sanctuary. Not one for stormy nights alone!
Rating: Summary: A great story! Review: Although this book is not my favorite by Nora, it is a great read. A nice blend of romance and added suspense make this a story worth reading. It is fast-paced with a great plot. I would most definitely recommend this to anyone.
