Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Ferociously Funny Review: I can say this in all honesty: Never in my life have I read a more hilarious novel. I did not giggle, I did not laugh, I did not chuckle. I guffawed, repeatedly. Jennifer Crusie is a master of blending humor, romance and mystery together to produce a story that will hook readers from the first scene. After 18-months of divorce hell, Nell Dysart interviews for a secretarial position at a detective agency, and her life becomes infinitely more interesting. She meets her match in Gabe McKenna, senior partner of McKenna Investigations. As Nell tries to introduce the agency to the 21st century and Gabe tries to keep it firmly planted in 1950, the sparks fly and the steamy sex scenes commence. But not all the fun takes place inside the bedroom (or on the couch for that matter). Nell and Co. (including Gabe's partner Riley, Nell's former sister-in-laws Suze and Margie, and the agency's quirky clients) find themselves dealing with dog-napping, embezzelment, bodies in freezers, stolen diamonds, lesbian tendencies and a lot of ugly china. The mystery is solved, the romance blooms, and the laughs abound in this latest effort from Crusie. You may blush at some of the sexy scenes, but the pain you feel is your gut busting from laughing so hard. This book is ferociously funny and well worth the purchase! Read of all Jennifer Crusie's novels. You will not be disappointed!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Funny and witty. Review: Gabe McKenna had his father’s detective agency to run with the help of his cousin Riley, his ex-wife’s business (and his ex-wife) to look after, the challenge of convincing his daughter to go to college. Now his receptionist has disappeared. Hopefully, this pale, way-too-thin, nervous applicant will be able to put his business in some kind of order so he can work on getting his life in order. That is if she didn’t tear up his office first. This had been his Dad’s business, and Gabe had kept everything exactly the way his Dad had it when he died. Eleanor Dysart was almost forty-two years old, newly divorced and unemployed. She figured she was due a change in her life and set out to get it. The first thing she had to do was get a job; so she figured applying for the receptionist job at McKenna Investigations was a good start. Of course, after seeing the dingy, dirty office and talking to Gabe McKenna, the big, gruff, 50’s throwback owner, she wasn’t so sure. This latest Crusie novel is absolutely hilarious.... The dialogue is witty and fast-paced, the situations serious, but funny.... This is one of those stories you can read over and over without it getting stale.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Hot, Hot, Hot Review: Fast Women is the first book by Jennifer Crusie that I have read and I am sure it will not be the last. Some of the scenes in this book between Nell (a newly divorced woman) and Gabe (the set in his ways detective) are sure to make you blush. I enjoyed the mix of romance and mystery. Fast Women is a great summer read.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Fabulously Funny, Wonderfully Written Review: Brace yourself, Bridget -- this is one wonderful ride of a book. My favorite Crusie since ANYONE BUT YOU. I found the characters real, the plot intriguing and complex, and the assorted romantic subplots a welcome variation on the underlying theme. As always, her trademark humor shines through in thoughts, description, and dialogue that leaves you wandering the house wishing you, too, could talk like that. Crusie is a first-class writer. I love the way she makes every line do at least double duty, and her gift for making what seems to be a throwaway line pay off in clues (or laughs) later in the book. Nell, Gabe, Suze, and Riley aren't character, they're people, true dented average people who do their best and sometimes screw up but carry on despite their mistakes. Some reviewers have trouble with the fact that Nell sleeps with more than one man in this book: I say hallelujah, it's about time an author acknowledged that women -- especially those just pulling their lives back together -- have different needs at different stages in their journey. Unlike many other readers, I was disappointed with Welcome to Temptation: despite the laughs and the reliably excellent writing, I never felt the main characters in that book had a hope of lasting. This time, I do. TFast Women gave me the story I needed to believe in the future of these characters: a bumpy future, no doubt, but one that will hold.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: HOT SUMMER READ! Review: I have not read any of Jennifer Crusie's previous books. I really liked this one! It was funny and the love scenes were entertaining. I admired Nell's ability to be free to do what she wanted and to go after what she needed. The mystery seemed like it was added on, but it didn't detract from the story. I found this book to be a fun summer read. Don't miss it!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Crusie Does it Again Review: Welcome to Temptation is a hard act to follow, but Crusie holds her own in this winner. This thinking woman's romance will give you something to smile about - it is smart, hot and a whole lot of fun. And like all of Crusie's books it contains that one perfect chapter that you will read over and over. The story starts as Nell, recently divorced, interviews for a job in a small detective agency. She manages to put a hole in the carpet, break a window, and I won't even go into the blinds ... but Gabe the owner needs help and just can't resist Nell. Against Gabe's wishes, Nell does a major clean up at the agency and stumbles on to a 20 year old secret that people are willing to die for. Like gasoline and a blow torch ... Nell and Gabe can't help but ignite. Throughout the mystery, we follow Nell's return to sanity after divorce. And learn that real women do have sex after 40 and they like it hot. There a number of excellent secondary relationships in this story ... Nell and Ramsey ... Nell and Suze ... Ramseey and Suze ... not to mention the kids and the cases at the agency. I smiled all through this page turner -- and still smile just thinking about it! Many reviewers have said that this is no Temptation... I agree ... it is Temptation Grown Up. Thank you Jennifer Crusie.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: A well-written thriller! Review: I hadn't read a Jennifer Cruise novel until now. I have been told that her writing is unique and she has great attention to detail. Having read Fast Women, her new novel, I have to agree with those who recommended her books. Nell takes a new job as office manager at a rather old-fashioned firm. Gale, her boss, doesn't take the fact that Nell wants to redo his office surroudings lightly. However, things change in a drastic way when Nell and Gale begin a steamy affair -- an affair that takes some twisted turns when murders and mysteries begin to arise. Well written and entertaining, Fast Women is a reading investment. I am pleased with her work, and so I will try her earlier work.
Rating: ![2 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-2-0.gif) Summary: A Big Disappointment! Review: Sorry, but it did nothing for me. If you are looking for a good J. Crusie book then try "Welcome To Temptation" or "Manhunter". I would also recommend her older single category titles. You can still find them at the auctions and they are all worth it. This book fell very flat for me. I'm glad I checked it out at the library and did not have to pay for it. The story was more fantasy than fiction and the character's were dull and underdeveloped. Especially Gabe, what's up with this guy. Actually most of the people in this book were self-absorbed and immature. The mystery, if you can call it that was weak. I can't recommend this book to anyone, yet there do seem to be some die-hard fans that like it.
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: Not fast enough Review: Posssible spoilers!!! First of all, I want to assure anyone who may be wondering that Ohio is full of nice, normal people. This is not the German Village in Columbus, Ohio that I know! Fast Women starts out just fine, with a hilarious job interview. I was thinking YES!, this is vintage Crusie! Then it all went downhill. This is the first Cruise book I've read where I just didn't like the characters very much. Nell starts off as appealing and vunerable, but became unsympathetic for me quickly. As for her two best friends, the less said the better. We have a muddled alcaholic, Margie, who has kept a less than steller boyfriend on the back burner for years. Then there is Suze, who had an affair with a married man when she was a teenager, but is astonished when the same thing happens to her after years of marraige to a jerk. These are not women I could identify with or feel any real sympathy toward. They all act as enablers for each other's most unattractive traits. The hero, Gabe, is really nothing special, and his cousin is a man who helps an older woman feel better about herself by sleeping with her. What a prince! I wanted to like Riley, but couldn't get past the fact that he has lusted for years over a teen-ager he spied on for an irate wife. Yuck! Jennifer Crusie is a brilliant writer. FAST WOMEN is extremely well written, and very funny. But I couldn't help but feel an undertone of bitterness all through this book. Reguardless of the humor, well written as it is, I just plain didn't like these people. I must agree, WELCOME TO TEMPTATION is very hard to top. Having enjoyed all of the Crusie books up to now, I am really looking forward to her next novel. This one just didn't work for me.
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: Not A Good Cruise Read Review: This book falls short of the style and humor we expect from Jennifer Cruise. All of the characters are unrealistic, including the dog,Marlene. When Nell comes to work for Gabe and Riley the plot starts developing neatly. Then the introduction of the other characters and further subplots started muddying the story-line. Nell's friends,Suze and Marge did not seem like real women with their peculiar men and their involvements in the various absurd situations that arose.Nobody seemed to possess a real personality and were almost one dimensional.Gabe and Nell's fights and the falling into bed became quite tiresome and went on much too long for me to believe that they could ever make.yet they ultimately did. This book became quite tedious;I had to work to get thru it and was glad to see the end..
