Summary: FAST WOMEN gives fast humour and a big heart
Review: How fast do women realize that their love-life has its lustre faded? For Nell Dysart it's a painful eighteen years after her husband Tim abandoned her for his secretary Whitney. It is a seething betrayal when she has helped his insurance firm flourish and loved him faithfully. Her sister, Suze Dysart is no better - she finds herself in a dilemma of being a suppressed wife or a "child bride" where her every decision is masterminded by Jack, her husband. Nell decides to start afresh when she seeks employment in McKenna's Investigation agency. The owner Gabe McKenna is disturbingly attractive and his cousin Riley is a sexy flirt. Their investigation varies from checking out on infidelities and secret threats to organization. When Nell chance upon a document hinting that Gabe's father Patrick secrets some diamonds, she has no idea that she is on the trail of solving a mystery of mayhem and sabotage....

Jennifer Crusie's latest full-length novel is a breezy fast read laced with sardonic humour and quirky relationships. The tightly woven mystery aside, Fast Women is a light parody and social commentary on the trials of women today. The stories link trophy wives, hidden desires and fear of marriages to translate the insecurities grappled by women nowadays. Nell and Suze adapt and mature under a series of events to summon their courage and find their true-love eventually.

FAST WOMEN is irreverent and tenderly touching in conveying the turmoils of Nell as a mother and as a woman to embrace love yet again. Its refreshing humour and wicked sarcasm is scathing; the mystery and adventures of finding dead corpse in freezers and diamonds in sofa are fun and absurd. It is delightfully exuberant and energetic given the explosive chemistry between Gabe and Nell - so much so that it is deservingly ranked Best of 2001 by Amazon editors. I urge you to grab this book - fast.

Summary: Quick, Fun Read
Review: Humour, suspense, murder and romance. This book has it all.

Nell Dysart is fading fast. She finds herself shuffling along through life trying to get over a divorce that she never saw coming. Encouraged by her best friends, she lands a job in what appears to be a run down detective agency.

Gabe McKenna, stuck in the past, divorced but still sleeping with his ex-wife, is desperately trying to keep everything as it was. This not only includes his personal life but his detective agency founded by his father long since dead. At no time did he bargain for Nell and her entrance into his life.

Throw in Nell's best friends who are somewhat dysfunctional, a case of dog napping gone awry and a mysterious past that brings all the characters together. What ensues is a fast paced story that I couldn't put down filled with twists and turns that are both funny and sad.

I would have to rate this as my favourite Jennifer Cruise thus far. For anyone looking for a quick and enjoyable book, this is for you!

Summary: Good read
Review: I found FAST WOMEN edgier than Crusie's previous books, but no less entertaining. It begins slowly with Nell trying to recover from a divorce she can't explain by drifting her way through life. With the help of friends she lands at a small detective agency and meets Gabe. Nell thinks she can 'manage' Gabe, but meets her match. The secondary characters are just as interesting as Nell and Gabe. And of course there's a dog for added enjoyment. Crusie is an intelligent, entertaining author.

Summary: An Amusing and Entertaining Read!
Review: Fast Women by talented writer Jennifer Cruise is a wonderful story. Amusing and entertaining. A story that you will remember long after you finish the book. The storyline and the characters are so true-to-life you will forget that you are reading a book of fiction.

Summary: Grab a cup of coffee...
Review: and sit down for this easy on the eyes, easy on the brain book. Crusie keeps the flow going and makes these guys grow on you! While it will not stimulate a rocket scientist.. it will definitely keep your attention and give you a smile. Nothing better for a rainy curl up in yer chair having a laid back day kinda read like this.

Summary: Cruises Along
Review: This was my first Jennifer Cruisie book, but it will not be my last!! I adored the characters, Nell was wonderful and she grew along with the book. The women intrigued me, and the men of the agency thrilled me. I laughed till I cried at some of their antics.

Run, don't walk to pick up this "fast" read. Enjoy it for it's purely escapism story!!

Summary: This is her best one yet!
Review: While I have always found this author's characters witty with great dialogue, I haven't always loved her books. I liked her previous works, just not loved them. I loved this book. I laughed and laughed and laughed. This is a very good read. A keeper.

Summary: Crusie Does It Again
Review: Crusie is truly the best in the US at this type of fiction. It's romance with a contemporary twist - and don't confuse that with "Contemporary Romance". Fast Women is another wonderful tale, full of witty, captivating, realistic, and intelligent dialog. And let's emphasize the intelligence of the writing in this book. Sure, the situation is a bit unrealistic (these little towns that Crusie creates are just too cute for words, two hunky PIs in said small town is a bit of a reach, all these women linking up with just so many losers in their early years is a bit sad) but she writes the plot in a way that you love - even if you have to suspend reality. The dialog is what makes this - and all Crusie books. It rings true. It's not the kind of thing that you'd be embarrassed to have your Significant Other pick up and start reading aloud in front of company - you won't cringe. She's also getting much better at her subplots - this one has a real mystery that you don't figure out in the first couple of pages. Another bonus - Fast Women's heroines aren't spring chickens or model perfect, but they're passionate and fiery. I've read and loved her other books - especially "Crazy for You" and "Tell Me Lies". It's hard to find US contemporary romance authors that interest me. If you like British authors like Helen Fielding, Jill Mansell, Christina Jones, Katie Fford, and Jane Green, you'll like Crusie. Another winner - I can't wait for her next brand-new release, I hear it may be a continuation of some of the characters in Welcome to Temptation. Bring 'em on, Jennifer!

Summary: Disappointed
Review: I read an exerpt of this book before it came out and couldn't wait for it to be published. Unfortunately it was more like one of those movies where they show all the good scenes in the advertising trailers. These were not people that I could imagine ever caring about. There were unnecessary 'pushing the envelope' scenes.I gave it a 3 because of what it could have been and previous books. I will be very careful about buying another Crusie book.
