Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: Silly book Review: I've never read Jennifer Crusie before, and I probably won't buy another one of her books, after reading this one. It is a silly book, with shallow characters.
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: Not impressed Review: I love Jennifer Cruise. "Welcome To Temptation" is one of my favorite books. I live in Columbus, Ohio, as does Ms. Cruise, so I really enjoyed knowing the areas & places she wrote about. That said, this book was definitely not one of her best! There were too many characters and as such too many of them were one-dimensional. The constant fighting between Gabe & Nell gave me a headache! Her night with Riley was totally unecessary! And Nell's attitude was very confusing. She was partners with her ex in his insurance agency which she basically ran. She was hired by Gabe as a SECRETARY but from her first day (long before they became involved) she was trying to change everything about his business to suit herself. Then she says if she "caves in" to Gabe on the changes she will be "selling herself into bondage" yet again. I can't understand how it can be bondage if she's controlling everything. Glad I bought this book used!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: WONDERFUL! Review: This is my first time reading Jennifer Crusie. I love this book! It is great! I am a big Danielle Steel fan. But now I have found another wonderful author to enjoy. I wanted this book to go on and on.
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: I love Jennifer but this one was not her best Review: Let me start off by saying I have read every one of Jennifer Crusie's books and have adored each of them. So needless to say, I couldn't wait to read Fast Women. Despite the fact that I still loved her characters, the "mystery" in this story fell flat. I would have preferred more romance with both couples and less "other stuff". If you can sum up the whodunnit in one page - I say who cares. I will look forward to Jennifer's next release but hope it's more like her previous books and less like this one.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Okay I'll Be The Bold One And Give This 5 Stars Review: This book has the best dialogue of all the romantic comedy books I've read recently (and believe me, I've read a lot of them). It's witty, wry, droll, sexy and just plain funny. It was just pure fun to listen to Gabe and Riley slip and slide their way out of tricky emotionally-charged conversations. Riley's comments about "the blonde" were priceless. I also liked the fact that Nell and Gabe both were strong-willed individuals and that they clashed and didn't back down. The other characters - Riley, Suze, Chloe, Margie, Jase, Lu and even Jack - had unexpected depth. The main setting is a detective agency, where Gabe and Riley McKenna are the partners and operators. As a favor to one of their main clients, Jack Dysart, Gabe hires Jack's ex-sister-in-law, Nell Dysart, as a temporary secretary. Initially, Gabe can't decide if Nell is the best secretary that they've ever had, or the office-manager-from-Hell. Nell also happens to be the best friend of Suze Dysart, Jack's wife and, unknown to her, the unrequited love of Riley's life. Added to the mix is Chloe, Gabe's ex-wife who divorced him ten years ago but with whom he still sleeps with on occasion; Margie Dysart, Nell & Suze's sister-in-law whose husband disappeared seven years ago after an embezzlement charge; Trevor Oglivie, Margie's father and Jack's partner, and the person who drove Margie's mother to what appears to be suicide. Add to the mix a blackmailer, an arsonist, and a couple of dead bodies and you have a tangled mix of mystery and romance. Some reviewers have had some complaints about the number of characters and romances in the book, but I didn't have any problem with that. Each relationship was totally different but each explored the ways a woman reacts to the demands of a relationship in terms of her own individuality and needs. I didn't have any problem keeping track of what what going on with the mystery or who the main players were. If you've enjoyed Jennifer Crusie's other books, you will definitely enjoy this one. If you've never read any of her books, then do try this one. It's one of those books that's pure fun to read, the kind where you just find yourself smiling as you read it.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Jennifer Crusie's always a good bet Review: I LOVE the books of Jennifer Crusie. I do not read romances, and yet, I am completely hooked on her funny, sexy, and suspense-filled novels. I would never turn down any of her books, and I'd never part with them once they were in my possession. That said, this is not my favorite. That's not to say it isn't good. Everything Ms. Crusie writes is good! But something in this novel seemed to fall flat for me. Perhaps it was the "happily-ever-after" ending for all of the characters involved. We're all used to seeing the hero and heroine ending up together. But this book had an abundance of secondary characters, who ALL seemed to find true happiness at the end. Maybe it was just that abundance of secondary storylines. I love the way Ms. Crusie creates and details her wonderful characters, but it love it best when she concentrates on two or three, instead of populating the book like a small town. I had a terrible time keeping straight the characters of Trevor, Budge and Jack... they were interchangable. And yet, to understand the plot, you had to be able to keep them straight. So buy the book. You'll like it. But you may not love it. If you want to fall in love with a book, get "Man Hunting" (my favorite) or "Welcome to Temptation." Those are the two best in my opinion.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Absorbing... Review: This is the third JC book that I have read and definately the best of the three. The story was interesting and fast-paced. But, the best part of this book was the dialogue. The dialogue was witty, intelligent, and laced with tons of humor. The characters weren't just real, but ultra-real. By ultra-real, I mean that the characters were real, but not boring or irritating. So, if I liked it so much, why didn't I give it five stars? Well...I just read Linda Howard's "After the Night" and that is a five star book!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Life after 40 Review: Finally a novelist who realizes women over 40 do have a life, love and romance. I have always enjoyed Ms. Crusie's books but enjoyed this one the most because of the age of the characters. I hope she writes more like this. Most romance novels have plot lines a little far fetched, but if they didn't we wouldn't read them. This one is complicated, but she ties it all together quite well in the end.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Excellent book Review: I can't understand why anyone wouldn't like this book - it was a good story, had wonderful characters - including the dog - and made me laugh out loud many times. The dialogue was good, the dogs' outfits even funnier, and was all around a wondeful read. Don't pass this one up; you'll be sorry if you miss it!
Rating: ![2 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-2-0.gif) Summary: Much too ambitious Review: Fast Women is an ambitious book with a large cast of characters and a complex plot. I didn't like any of the characters -- including the kidnapped dog. Unlike Crusie's past protagonists, the ones in this book are small hearted and mean spirited. There are so many characters that it is hard to keep them straight and some characters -- like the protagonists' own children -- get lost in the story line. I hated the plot, which had grizzly little touches like a woman married to the man who killed her mother and a main character who gets even with her ex-husband by describing to him -- in a restaurant with lots of people around -- the lesbian affair she had with another sister-in-law. I read in another review of Fast Women that if you like Janet Evanovich you'd like this book. Don't believe it. The Stephanie Plum books are laugh-out-loud funny. There's a lot of very weird stuff going on and a lot of violence. But the violence is tempered by a heroine who operates on excellent intuition, is funny as hell, and doesn't have a mean bone in her body. Save yourself some time and money. For a decent, funny romance, pick up one of Crusie's previous books. If you're looking for a mystery with a complex plot, lots of crazy characters that is sure to make you laugh -- go straight to Janet Evanovich.
