Rating: Summary: Within my Top 5 All-Time Favorite Romance Novels. Review: Be My Baby was my fist book by Susan Anderson and I have been a devout fan ever since. By the time Getting Lucky came out I had read everything by SA prior and let me just say she's a master at her craft. She and Rachel Gibson put others to shame with their light-hearted romances.Getting Lucky is the story of a chef and an Ex-Marine who have a crazy time falling in love. He's an ass who thinks the worst of her and she's a loudmouth who gives back as good as she can. For some reason after reading the back of the book I didn't think I'd actually like it. So, I kept putting if off by reading everything else before it. When I finally sat down to read it I was enthralled. I honestly think I read the whole thing in one day. I give a 100% satisfaction guaranteed stamp of approval on this novel. I'm positive you'll enjoy it as much as I did.
Rating: Summary: Andersen's Trilogy Review: Boy, I have been an avid reader of Susan's books. I generally can't wait for them to hit the shelves of the bookstore, so I may purchase them. However, Getting Lucky wasn't what I had hoped. Somehow the sexy sizzle and snap has vanished from her characters recently. This book has all the elements for a good read including lovable characters, sex, and danger. The circumstances in which Lilly and Midnight meet feel forced. And then knowing the background from the USMC (from which I was raised) this seems extremely far fetched at times. I don't know too many marines like the one she based Zach on, or for that matter Coop from the novel's predecessor. I also felt that the plot moved incredibly too quick and began to feel pushed and far fetched at times. The ending was set up rather quickly in the beginning of the book, unlike her earlier work. I must say it was not the page turner like all her other work has been.
Rating: Summary: Worth the read Review: Getting Lucky was not quite as good as "Head Over Heels", the first book in this trilogy but it is still quite good. The intertwining plot lines of the kidnapping of Zach's sister and her fiancé and the Colombian out for revenge against Zach were well written and kept my attention. The main characters, Zach and Lilly, were both likable enough although Zach was to quick jump to conclusions (just because Lilly was renting a room from his sister, Zach assumed she was a con artist out to swindle his sister out of her inheritance). Lilly was a strong female lead who knew she could correct Zach's misassumption if she wanted to but she had the self confidence to let him think what he wanted to. The extent that Lilly went to not to swear did wear a little thin after awhile and is probably my only real complaint with the book. When the two finally got together, as with all of Susan Andersen's books, the relationship sizzled. Overall, a good book, well worth the read.
Rating: Summary: Cute rainy afternoon read Review: Heroine: short, voluptuous Tired of moving around all her life, gorgeous master chef Lily Morisette is ready to settle down in one place and pursue her dream of opening her own restaurant. But achieving her goal will have to wait a little bit longer when she finds herself having to move one more time, as the owner of the house where she'd been renting a room unexpectedly returns home and decides to toss her out on the street. Marine recon Master Sergeant Zachariah Taylor was looking forward to relaxing at his own place during leave. He certainly didn't expect to find a gold-digging squatter in his residence! But there she was in all her curvy blonde beauty. Surely she was up to no good, and had just latched on to his rich baby sister roommate in hopes of a free ride? Why else would she keep Glynnis' current whereabouts a secret from him? But somewhere between their arguments over the legality of her renter's contract, and moments of sizzling attraction, Lily discovers a note left behind by Glynnis stating that she was on her way north to meet her new guy's family. Steamed over the fact that he now has two gold diggers to protect his sister from, Lily falls even further out of charity with Zach when she declares that she'll be accompanying him for the long ride north in order to protect Glynnis from her brother's ire. Zach doesn't know what makes him crazier, his sole family member going AWOL or this very feminine, luscious bit of cupcake who insists on protecting his baby sister from him. From him!? What worked for me: Lily seemed like a very sweet and savvy gal. It was fun seeing her try to puncture the "blonde bimbo airhead" stereotype that the oh-so-sexy Zach kept wanting to cram her into. I liked the secondary romance between Jessica and her husband, and it was enjoyable watching Lily help bring poor mousy Jess out of her shell. Size-wise Lily was built a la Marilyn Monroe, who (not surprisingly) seems to be the prototype for bunches of books billed as being "plus-size" romances. What didn't work for me: I'm not a real fan of stories in which the hero and heroine are butting heads all the time. A bit is ok, but the fact that it goes on for more than half of this book is too much for me, despite the validity of the big misunderstanding that prompts it all. I felt a bit at a loss because I had wandered in at the tail end of a trilogy. The recurring characters didn't really click with me because I was meeting them for the first time instead of enjoying a nice reunion with them. Overall: A solid read, especially if you enjoy having your hero and heroine firmly at odds with each other throughout most of the story. There are a few good comic as well as dramatic moments to savor in this book, but it may not be humorous enough for some readers or suspense-filled enough for others. Warning: This book features some steamy sex scenes and coarse language in it. If you liked "Getting Lucky" you might also enjoy: "Lola Carlyle Reveals All", "Runaway Bay", "This Heart of Mine", "It Had to be You", "Walking After Midnight", "Blushing Pink", "The Bridesmaid's Reward", "Plum Girl", "Fast Women", "Welcome to Temptation", "Faking It", "His Seductive Revenge", "Dear Cupid", "Looking for Laura", "Too Much Temptation", "Say You're Mine", or "Carried Away".
Rating: Summary: Lucky You! Exactly as written on the back cover - I agree. Review: How can you even start a Susan Andersen without being prepared to spend the night (or in my lucky case 4-5 hours). Lily Morrisette is the epitome of sexy, curvy, lady with a sugar-daddy type. It's so difficult for men to see underneath; hard working, smart, money of her own etc. And funny! Zach Taylor about blows her high heels off when she meets him, but she is very frustrated by his seeming preoccupation with halting his little syster Glynnis' wedding - to a man he's never met but has pre-judged. This is perhaps the best Susan Andersen I remember. You'll put it on your keeper shelf and never let it go.

Rating: Summary: THE BEST Review: I have read all of Ms. Andersen's books and alway wait impatiently for her next one. This one is even better than the others. I read the book in one day - it has everything, love, humor, mystery, and of course the great looking hero. This is a must read.
Rating: Summary: 4 stars good, but not 5. Review: I have to agree with the other reviews that this one is not quite as good as some of Ms. Andersen's previous books. But since most of her previous books are 5 stars, in my opinion, I will only go down 1 star on this one.
Rating: Summary: Waste of time Review: I have to say this is one of the worst books I have read in a long time. I will not buy another one by this author. I found the characters to be cheap and tacky. This was a story of lust not love.
