Rating: Summary: Good but.......... Review: Soul Catcher was a good read! I have to admit I wasnt bored with the book, but I expected a little more! the down points first! I thought that Maggie seemed a little ( ok alot ) out of it in this book! Drinking and her emotions where to locked up! I understand that that is apart of her charactor but I think she overkills it! And the biggest down point would have to be that Nick Morrilli was not mentioned enough in this book! I keeped my eyes open for any mention of him! Iam sure he will have a bigger part in the next book, but I was a little disappointed that he was barely acknewledged in this one! The up points! In this book the up points override the down ones! Alex Kava is trully a gifted writer! It was like watching Scream! I couldnt quit put my finger on who the killer was! She even has a cliff hanger! And if I havent read the last two books I guess I wouldnt be so disappointed about Nick! But I have read them and Nick Morrilli was and is a big part of Maggie O'Dell! So all in all this book is a very good read! I diffenetly recommened it!
Rating: Summary: A Maggie O'Dell Novel Review: The first novel in 2000 book called A Perfect Evil. Each a lot of Maggie O'Dell series are A Perfect Evil, Spilt Second, The Soul Catcher, and At the Stroke of Madness. Published by MIRA Books. Alex Kava was 5 books all 2000 through 2004.
Rating: Summary: THE SOUL CATCHER Review: THIS BOOK WAS A REALLY GOOD READ. I WAS ALITTLE DISAPPOINTED AT THE END. THE AUTHOR SHOULD HAVE TIED UP SOME OF THE LOOSE ENDS. NOT AS GOOD AS THE FIRST TWO BOOKS BUT I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO THE NEXT BOOK BY THIS AUTHOR.
Rating: Summary: DULL !! Review: This is a rather unimaginative mystery novel. It was dull and without the tension and suspense that a good mystery requires to hook the reader. Save your money on this one and see if your local library has a copy. THE SOUL CATCHER:A MAGGIE O'DELL NOVEL by Alex Kava was a major disappointment for me !!
Rating: Summary: Mundane and predictable Review: This is the 3rd book in the series featuring FBI agent Maggie O'Dell. The best that can be said about the book is that at least it reveals a little bit more about O'Dell's past, giving us a little bit more of an idea of what motivates Maggie O'Dell the person. However, this comes on the back of a fairly mundane and predictable thriller. The story starts out with a standoff between the FBI and a group of heavily armed cult members. As the story progresses the cult plays a major role as murders keep occurring wherever the members get together for their rallies. Maggie finds that her interest in the cult, and particularly in their leader, Reverend Everett, is going to be a lot more personal than she would have first imagined. Unfortunately this type of book has been done many times before and a lot more believably too. I had the killer pegged before I was halfway through the book and had to wait for O'Dell to catch up. All in all, I found this entry in the series to be a disappointment and easily the weakest of the series so far.
Rating: Summary: Not as sharp as other Maggie ODell novels Review: This novel in the Maggie O'Dell series deals with a religious cult and how they are tied to a series of serial killings, or are they? This is not the best Kava book I've read; I figured out what was really going on halfway through the book, but it's still an entertaining book.
Rating: Summary: Patience is a Virtue Review: What happens to the soul at death? Do some people lose their soul before death? It has been seven months since our last encounter. In this tense beginning, reminiscent of Ruby Ridge and Waco, boys of a cult militia would rather take suicide pills than be captured by the FBI. What does this have to do with "Father" Joseph Everett and his Church of Spiritual Freedom? And who is brutally killing girls- including a US Senator's daughter? And how is Maggie's Mom involved in all this? And what is Nick Morrelli doing up there in Boston? It all comes together in the end. Reading Alex Kava's first two Maggie O'Dell mystery thrillers: *A Perfect Evil* and then *Split Second* before this, her third, is recommended as it will add to your absorption into this spellbinding tale. Kava and her characters continue to grow, morphing into the well-worth-the-wait *Soul Catcher.* Now, Columbo would say, "I only have one question." (Columbo actually is in no way involved in this series - but, nonetheless: Other than convenience to the storyline, what the Sam-hill is taking so long with Greg and Maggie's divorce? No kids = no custody fight. There are no major disputes re property division. C'mon Alex - get over it!)
Rating: Summary: Move over James Patterson! Review: Wow! Alex Kava has done it again. Soul Catcher keeps you on the edge of your seat! Kava's characters are so real yet very diverse. I was unable to put it down! Maggie needs to be careful that she doesn't turn out like her mother.
Rating: Summary: This book with Capture your soul Review: Wow. I could not put this book down. Maggie O'Dell is back. Two unrelated series of murders are finally connected together. Then Maggie realizes that her own mother may be in danger. Reverend Everett is the connection to both crimes. Is he just some minister? Or is he a madman out to overpower innocent people? Alex Kava, what can i say! Wow. This book is filled with twists and unexpected suprises. Go get it now!
