Rating: Summary: interesting Review: "Amanda" certainly took me as a surprise. I have never read any of Hooper's books. I love mystery and romance all mixed into one, and this one met my expectations. It took me one day to finish this book because it was that good. No doubt the characters are complex and interesting. I thought Hooper could have elaborate on the relationship between Amanda and Walker. It was fun watching their conflicting relationship but I prefer Hooper building their relationship to a climax rather than all of a sudden in-your-face kind of love. However, I loved the ending! Overall, this book is a treasure to have.

Rating: Summary: A haunting tale of romantic suspense Review: Amanda is a quick read, will keep you up late at night! Excellent plot, characters, very well written, my favorite by Kay Hooper.
Rating: Summary: Keeps you guessing Review: Amanda is a wonderful story, full of colorful characters and a quick plot. "Amanda" has returned home after 20 years when she and her mother left when she was a child. She cannot prove that she is the real Amanda, and her relatives are all sceptical. Amanda doesn't really care if they believe her or not. She just wants to know why her mother took her and ran so many years ago. Amanda must deal with an unexpected romantic intrest in her family's lawyer and her old friend, Walker. As she asks questions however horrible things begin to happen. A trainer at the stable is killed, Amanda is poisoned, and her protective dogs go missing, and she can only asume they have been taken. Amanda must find out why her mother took her and ran before it's too late. This was a very good book, that drew me in. The characters are interesting and the plot keeps you guessing. I've read it many times over the years, and if you like suspenseful romances you will too.
Rating: Summary: Quite boring Review: At first I thought it would be a real good mystery when I decided to buy this book. I heard lots people talking about Kay Hooper but I would say she's definitely not one of my list. The plot seems to be good but the way she proceeds with her characters and story is not very charming. The dialogue is so dull and not interesting at all that it took me several days to finish. There are some authors who couldn't make their novels charming despite the fact that they have very good plot lines. Kay Hooper is one of them. There are so many missing links and questions poped up throughout the whole reading. For example, I've never come to understand why Amanda falls for Walker (probably, there's nobody else and he's the hero of this book so the heroine must fall in love with him), the relationship between Jesse and their children is also not quite sensible to me. KH made me think that Jesse doesn't care about his children at all but this contradicts to his loving and caring reaction toward Amanda (whom he just met and believed to be his niece). The clue about Jesse's children's birthmarks is also very very ridiculous !!! I just don't buy this. I regret buying this one, to be honest.
Rating: Summary: The ending left me in tears Review: At first the book was kind of slow in comparison to Touching Evil, but I wanted to give the book an honest chance since I am easy to give up on a book if it does not take hold of my interest. I did not expect the ending as it turned out, but it certainly left me in tears.

Rating: Summary: Not Bad Review: Definitely not one of those books you can't put down, but not bad. Moved a little slow, although Ms Hooper did incorporate some unpredicatable events which made it nice. This really wasn't my type of romance novel though as I enjoy the paranormal and time travels more. I had read Ms Hooper's Stealing Shadows and had hoped this one would be as good and was disappointed through the comparison.
Rating: Summary: Quite boring Review: Far from Hooper's current dark mystery phase (when is that phase going to be over?!?!), this book is passionate, engaging and touching. A little bit of suspense and mystery add to the mix, but do not overwhelm it. Hooper manages the amazing feat of keeping readers in the dark about whether Amanda is "the Amanda" or a pretender while still having them care about her. Finally, yes, the relationship with Walker does seem to develop a little quickly, but in the end, that's the best part of the book. 5 stars!
