Rating: Summary: Fast paced and exciting Review: In Thieves Paradise we meet Dante Brown, a twenty five year old who is down but not out and determined to make it. Old school friend Jackson is between jobs and dealing with stressful issues from his babies mother and lady friend Robin. Scamz is a con man and master mind of the game. Pam is the waitress want to be actress that Dante is infatuated with. Hold on tight because Thieves Paradise offers a bumps ride over a three day period.EJD has mixed in suspense, a taste of erotica, scams, and a dash of action to give us a different genre this time around. Another good one to add to my collection. Love and support to you Eric. Looking forward to your next release.
Rating: Summary: Weak Review: The Scamz character is the only reason I would recommend anyone read this book. All the characters in this book have a watered down feel to them. I think there is just to many people and not enough energy to go around. He should concentrate more on couples, more specifically the father, son relationship of Scamz and Dante. Eric really needs to search his soul and not the media for success. This book could have had the potential to be a blockbuster like his earlier novels. Instead it got played out like public television.
Rating: Summary: Different but interesting.... Review: I see that Eric was trying to do something different with this book. A little further left than his usual sex, seduction and deception novel... Although this book encompassed these same elements, it was done with more of a mysterious twist. I love my frat for his powerfully written sex scenes, but the ones in this book had a softer edge... It was less about intimate relationships and more about life's relationships and challenges. It took me a minute to get adjusted to this new style, but I enjoyed the writing just the same... EJD fans will not be upset with his writing style...

Rating: Summary: Loved it! Review: EJD is one of my favorite authors and to me this book was unlike his others. I loved it.
Rating: Summary: Good, but lacks character development Review: Hi! I have been reading EJD novels now for about 2 years, some I love(Friends and Lovers) some I could do without(Between lovers), with Thieve's Paradise I give Eric major credit for doing something different BUT he still is very shallow when it comes to character development, that's my one problem with EJD, he can go on and on about what a person looks like or what they are wearing, but when it comes to describing a person from the inside, he doesn't do a very good job, in fact he can be down right vague, for instance, I have read the book twice and I can not understand why Dante was so attracted to Pam the aging, struggling actress, she had absolutly nothing going for her, as Dante himself put it "She can barely pay her rent but she wanted $6,000 to have cosmetic surgery, as if surgery is the sure way to get her an Oscar". I was more intruiged with the relationship between Scamz and Dante, I think he should have explored that more instead of wasting three sometimes four chapters in a row with Dante and Pam, come to think of it the only female in the book that I really wanted learn more about was Arizona, in the few chapters she was in, she displayed more depth and sincerity than all the other women put together. And please will he give the pop culture references and the corny jokes a rest!? All in all it was an entertaining book, a good guilty pleasure, a nice book for the summer.
Rating: Summary: Alright Review: I was really excited to read this book, because I have enjoyed everything by Mr. Dickey. This book threw me for a loop. It was just alright ok it was a page turner because I wanted to see what would happen next. Mr. Dickey you could have done better than this, but I will still support you on whatever you write because you're my homeboy.
Rating: Summary: Different Review: I say this book is different because it is a different style of writing than what EJD fans are used to reading. While I did like the book, it seemed to drag in certain areas, and at times I found that I had to make myself keep reading and not just skim over a paragraph. A good book nonetheless.
Rating: Summary: Good but not great Review: I enjoyed the book and compared to his last two novels this is realy good but it still has it's flaws for starters I couldn't care less and couldn't understand why Dante was so attracted to Pam the actress, she had absolutely nothing going for her as Dante himself said "She can't pay her rent but she wants 6,000 for plastic surgery on her stomach as if that would finally get her an Osacr" I wished EJD spent more time in developing the relationship with Scamz and Dante, I thoroughly enjoyed these two, then wasting 2-3 chapters in a row on Dante and Pam having sex. I also wanted to learn more about Arizona, I really liked her, in the few pages she was in the book I was more intrigued with her character than Pam. but knowing EJD, he will write another novel and Arizona will be a main player :) All in all I ejoyed the book, a true guilty pleasure for the summer.
Rating: Summary: Not Bad At All Review: I have to admit that I have been disappointed with EJD's novels of late, as it seems the more his popularity grows, the more he relies on pop culture references in his writing, which a writer with such a unique talent as his should know is a big no-no. Anyway, I can't say that I was entirely disappointed with this book in particular, mainly because it was so different from the others he has written. Of course the somewhat anti-climatic yet unexpectedly unhappy ending was refreshing from the whole unrealistic "all loose ends tied up" format. And after I finished the book I had to debate for days whether I liked it or not--and here I must admit that I stayed up until nearly four in the morning to finish it, which only took me two days--only to find myself in the middle. Perhaps what prevented me from liking it more than I do is that it seemed to lack depth, of which was sacrificed for the plot. There has to be a balance here; one can't just ditch a plotline to create an aura of depth, but one cannot ditch depth for the plot. If there was a choice, I'd go with depth. And this book just lacked it.
