Summary: Where is the real EJD?
Review: I know that an author likes the mix things up and give his/her readers something different, but this was a not a good book. EJD lost me on this book about a so-called big time scam artist and how he was so determained to pull a twenty-five year old into his world of trouble.

EJD had dissappointed with his last book (Between lovers) and he has did it once again.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: He's definitely written better
Review: I've read all of EJD's books and I find this one to be my least favorite. It took me longer than usual to get into it. I got to a point where I asked myself did I even want to finish it! But as I read I found myself liking it more and more. It was different than his other books and I tried to be open minded, but I don't like this kind of writing from him. Maybe if he'd gone into more detail with the characters? Whatever. I will still buy his books and read them. I'm a loyal fan.

Summary: Kept my attention!
Review: I am a big EJD fan and this book definitely kept my attention. I wish, however, that he had provided more details about Scamz. He was the most interesting character to me and I really wanted to know more about his life.

Summary: A Time Waster!
Review: I wholeheartedly embraced the new story idea from EJD with an open mind. Something edgier can be refreshing, however, in this case, EJD was not able to pull this one off. As others have indicated, the characters in this story lack depth. There wasn't one character in the book that I wanted to get to know better.

Even EJD got a little mixed up as he was writing this convoluted story. Early on we learn that Robin (Jackson's Fiancée) has a silver Volkswagon (Passat) but when you get to page 271 Robin's car is now a green Nissan, which is really the model of Pam's car.

As I finished the book, I decided to read the acknowledgements and learned that the concept for this book was started while EJD was in a writer's program at UCLA--the novel reads like it. I'm glad someone loaned me the book, I would have been quite upset to have paid hard-earned money for this trivial story.

PS Don't even get me started on the ending.

Summary: I couldn't put this one down
Review: This book got my attention from page 1 and kept it until the very end. I loved this story. I loved Dante and I loved Scamz! I think this one would make an excellent movie!

I have only one minor complaint about this novel. I think that EJD should have provided more detail about some of the characters in the story. I wanted to know a little more about Arizona - where was she before picking up Scamz and Dante? What was she REALLY up to with Scamz? After some of the things that happened, I felt she was up to no good in spite of her professions of love for Scamz.

Nonetheless, overall this was an EXCELLENT book and I applaud EJD on his work.

Summary: Thieves Paradise
Review: I am an avid reader of Eric Jerome Dickey's novels and I have enjoyed them all ! Thieves Paradise is a departure from his other novels, there is a new cast of characters, in a totally different setting than the others and I loved every minute of it !! It's a faced paced novel with clever characters and plot twists that will keep you guessing. I loved it and I'm sure you will too!

Summary: It's alright I guess
Review: I really couldn't get into the book. I put it down after the third chapter. Eric Jerome Dickey, disappointed me this time. I have all of his other books, and they were really good and funny. This one, I don't know, I just wasn't into it at all. His next book, I'm going to wait till it comes out on paperback before I run out and get the hardcover. ...
