Rating: Summary: Paradise Found Review: Great book! All I can say is that this book is good. If you liked this book then you'll like the rest of Eric Jerome Dickey's books.
Rating: Summary: Keeping It Real Review: This is my first novel read by Eric Jerome Dickey. I have to say it was really good. The characters in the book were excellent. Everyone added to the story. Ending was very surprising. I hope Pam gets hers some day. I'm looking forward to Thieves Paradise 2.I'm looking forward more novels by him. Thanks for keeping it real.
Rating: Summary: An OK Read! Review: This is the first of EJD's books that I have read and I wasn't totally disappointed. This is the story of Dante who was forced into juvenille delinquency by trying to protect his abused mother from his abusive father. As an adult he is having a hard time keeping himself off of the streets and out of the hustling game. He's known for always trying to save someone else and not thinking of himself. That is a dangerous way to be in the streets. This story tells of the trials and tribulations of Dante and his friends, or should I say, associates, and how he fares in the street game. It wasn't the best book I've ever read, but nothing can be taken away from the style of writing that EJD conveys. I enjoyed his style of writing a little more than I did the story.(If that makes any sense.) For the most part, I enjoyed this book but I feel EJD could have given us a little more story. I still didn't feel that I knew or really understood Dante when it was over. I do, however, plan to read EJD's previous books as a fan of his writing style! TP was an ok read.
Rating: Summary: A great read!! Review: I read Thieves' Paradise and it was great. One page after another I couldn't put it down. I was impressed by the fact that this young black male Dante, didn't end up in jail again, but recognized that he had to change his surroundings. It also appeared to me that he surrounded himself with older men which whom had no wisdom to offer. I simply loved the book! Dickey has done it again.
Rating: Summary: I Enjoyed Reading This Book! Review: I really enjoyed reading this book. I was glad to see that it was much different then "Cheaters", "Liar's Game" and Milk In My Coffee". Keep up the great writing skills!
Rating: Summary: Thieves Paradise Review: Just finished reading "Thieves Paradise" and it was all that. When does the next book come out. I just have one question about this novel on page 271 or 272 I can't figure out the car switch (silver passat and the green nissan). Keep the page turners coming. God Bless
Rating: Summary: Lesson Learned Review: I like EJD however, this particular book started off slow to me. The book didn't get good until the middle when all the action started but once it got going I couldn't put down. Dante was determined to make it without turning to the illegal side of things, however, he is a real example of someone doing what they have to do to get by. Scamz to me was a joke. He thought he was God but found out he was not. He said he feared no man well he forgot about woman. I recommend the book just be prepared for a slow start and keep i mind that the ending is worth the slow start.
Rating: Summary: A lot of Drama Review: I have read all of his books. This book kept me guessing. I could not put it down. The characters you used seemed real. Not fake. It was very intense. Not boring. Keep them books coming. I cannot wait for the next novel to come out. Hopefully it is a sequel.
Rating: Summary: Lacking Review: I used to be to be a huge fan of EJD, but have since stopped sweating his writing efforts. I actually finished reading this book, which I cannot say is true for the two previous books Liar's Game and Between Lovers. This book was very slow, and I only finished reading it for lack of any other reading material. I originally began to like EJD for his realistic characters, with real problems like the average Joe. Come lately, however, the characters of his books (namely, the last three) seem to have problems that are self created, and seriously blown out of proportion. Also it just may be, but it seems as if the commom sense that previous characters held, are lacking in these newer charachters...they seem SO STUPID! This book lacked some serious character development, they just sorta changed somewhere along the pages and became what the author wanted them to become by the last pages of the book... As mediocre as this book was, I think it would make an interesting movie. As I was reading, I kept saying this sucks as a book, but would be a better screenplay for a movie. I could have done without reading this book, so I would only suggest it if you are desperate for something to read.
Rating: Summary: Awesome Review: I could not put this book down. The character (Scamz) was defintely a character I wanted to know more about. He was very smooth. I also like Robin, because some will go the extra distance to have their man. But the distance she went was very far fetch.
