Summary: EJD@ his BEST!!
Review: Thieves Paradise was no doubt a five plus! This story was full of action, drama and hot sizzling [scenes]! EJD sure does know how to create a sex scene. [Those] scenes are always THE BOMB!

I thought I had this book figured out, but it ended in a totally different way. I can't choose any favorite characters with this story because I loved them all!

Dante- main character that was constantly haunted by his past.

Jackson - Dante's best friend. He got a whole lotta problems and often turns to Dante who is younger than him for advice.

Robin- Jackson's girlfriend

Sabrina - Jackson's baby momma

Scamz- the one man that could get you out of trouble and in trouble at the same time. He was like God to some people...they looked up to him. The women worshipped the ground he walked on.

Pam- the older woman that Dante fell in love with too fast.

Sierra- One of Scamz's women (watch out for this lady)

Arizona- One of Scamz's women (watch out for this lady)

Big Slim- An old man with a nasty attitude who has a closet full of secrets.

Nazario- Dante's worst enemy. (HATED HIM WITH A PASSION)

My mouth flew open at some of the crimes they got away with in this book. Even though I knew they were doing wrong I was hoping they wouldn't get caught. The crimes they committ will have you sitting on the edge of your seat biting your nails.

If you haven't read Thieves Paradise yet...what you waiting on?! It was SOOOOOOOOOO Good! Loved it from the first sentence to the last.

Summary: Paradise Can Be Hell
Review: Not bad. Not bad at all. I've been disappointed with Mr. Dickey's last two works, but this one may right the ship or help right itself. No pun intended. :)

The characters were very well developed. They will be as memorable for me as Red, Brown, and Black in Sister, Sister. A refreshingly complex storyline, but falls off a bit in the attempt to make the character Scamz seem larger than life. Mr. Dickey has written from a woman's point of view before and did it incredibly well. I think this time it suffers because the main character was so colorful, and alive everyone else sort of paled next to him.

Nonetheless, a good read, but I know better can come from this author. I'll be waiting.

Summary: EXCELLENT BOOK
Review: THIS IS THE BEST BOOK I HAVE READ IN A LONG TIME.

Summary: For Fans, not Fanatics
Review: I've read all of the negative reviews of this book that I can take. I read them because after I finished the book, I wasn't sure where it fit in with EJD's other works, all of which I loved. True fans of EJD will love this book; his "fanatics" (from which the word "fan" is derived) will be disappointed. I was initially disappointed because I went into it as a "fanatic," a member of the EJD cult, a reader who KNOWS what he is going to get out of a book before he even reads it because he only reads it to for those things and those things are always there (and usually in some predictable order and style). I wanted my plot twists, my sudden revelations, my blythe happy ending. When those things are not there, or are there but rearranged, or disguised, or expanded or reduced, the "fanatic," having not gotten his "fix", says "This is a bad book. EJD has lost me on this one." In fact, what really happened is the writer gave us a great book, though a bit slow at the beginning, but with rich characters and plot enough to go around for any "fan" who will tolerate versatility and growth on the part of his favorite writer. EJD, you are the man!

Summary: Something to Read
Review: Thieves Paradise is something to read if you don't have anything else to do. I am an avid fan of EJD and I am totally disappointed in this work. It is to discriptive in some areas and personally, for me it was like waiting on paint to dry. EJD's writings are usually very exciting and passionate but I really don't know what he was trying to do with this one.

Summary: Different EJD Book
Review: A few people are dogging EJD out about this book, it wasn't all that bad, it was just different from the rest of his books. The others ones tend to make you laugh, this one was a little more serious. I kinda like EJD change, it's alright to be versatile. The other books he had people had good jobs and hardly anything to worry about but sexual issues. This one people cant pay there bills, don't know where their next meal is coming from. And sometimes it forces you to make bad decisions, but you really a good person with morals. If you want a book to dog out, how about For the Love of Money, by Omar Tyree, now that's what you call bad.

Summary: I WAS BLOWN AWAY!
Review: I've been a follower of Eric's for some time. His writing never ceases to Amaze me. This story has many lessons to be learned. It enforces the saying "tell me who your friends are and I'll tell you who you are". Dante, Scamz, and Jackson have been down for whatever and each other for a while. However, things change when you have children, responsibilities, and get involved in relationships. Just trying to live from hand to mouth can become difficult without a steady gig. Seems easy to become part of the game but can be hard to get out. There's always a price to pay in a Thieves' Paradise.

Summary: Slow start, picked up, then slow ending
Review: I have read several of EJD's book and Thieve's Paradise has not been my favorite. This book had a very slow start to it. It was hard to get a good grasp of the characters. The pace changed toward the middle of the book which kept me reading, looking for more. I appreciated the mystry of the novel, but think he could have been just a little more developed.

Summary: NOT THAT BAD
Review: THIS WAS THE FIRST (EJD) BOOK THAT I HAVE READ.
THIS BOOK WAS OKAY, NOT GREAT NOT TOO BAD BUT
OKAY.

ONE POINT THAT THE BOOK MAKES IS
SOME TIME YOU HAVE TO PUT YOURSELF
FIRST. AND LOOK OUT FOR YOU, BEFORE
YOU CAN LOOK OUT FOR OTHER PEOPLE.

THE BOOK IS ABOUT DANTE A 25 YEAR OLD
MAN WHO DID A LITTLE TIME IN JAIL.
HE LOST HIS JOB, HIS BILLS ARE ADDING UP
AND HE DON'T HAVE NO WHERE TO TURN.
HIS LAST OPTION IS TO WORK WITH A
PROFESSIONAL CROOK NAME SCAMZ.
SCAMZ IS A BIG TIME CROOK, BUT HE
LIKE DANTE, SO HE OFFERS HIM SOME
WORK WHEN DANTE TELLS HIM HIS PROBLEMS

DANTE HAS A FRIEND NAME JACKSON,
WHO IS GOING THREW ALOT OF STUFF ALSO
HIS BABY MOTHER IS TAKING HIM TO COURT
AND HE ALSO IS BETWEEN JOBS
SO JACKSON ASK DANTE TO ASK SCAMZ FOR
WORK FOR HIM ALSO.

DANTE NOW HAS THE HOTS FOR THIS
OLDER WOMEN WHO IS TRYING HER BEST
TO GET INTO HOLLYWOOD, HER AND DANTE
HOOK UP SHE TELLS DANTE HER PROBLEMS
AND ONCE AGAIN DANTE HOOKS HER UP

NOW ALL OF THIS ADDS UP TO SOME MAJOR DRAMA !
(EJD) COULD HAVE ENDED THE BOOK IN ANOTHER WAY
BUT LIKE I SAID THE BOOK IS O.K.

Summary: His WORST Work!
Review: I have been reading this book for over a month and have yet to get the just of it. He throws in way too many characters at one time and then the 'relationship' or lack there of between Dante and the older woman is taking WAYYYY too long to get moving.

I have read ALL of E. J. Dickey's other books and none of them were as slow and poorly written as this one. I have yet to find a book that I couldn't complete because it was that awful - UNTIL THIS ONE........I would not recommend that you buy it - BORROW IT FROM ME!
