Rating: Summary: Desperate Souls Review: This story is about Dante Black, a young 24 year old who is unemployed and needs money to pay his mounting bills. Its seems Dante does not want to fall back into his past crooked deeds. He meets Pam a "fine lady" who he wants to impress, but she too is looking for a way to make an extra buck. Along comes Scamz a flashy experienced con artist with expensive tastes from Dante's past. Together with Dante's long time friend Jackson, they enter into a deal with the devil.
I like the characters in this book but I felt that each had the potential to be more developed and more interesting. Mr Dickey did a good job writing about one of the subjects he touch on in this book, and that was the child support issue. It is a shame some women use this issue just to get back at the men for leaving them, and it is mostly the good men who are willing to support their children that are put through this shameful ordeal. Jackson is a good man who would not shy away from his responsibilities, but still sabrina his ex drags him into court. Robin, Jackson's current fiance is also feeling the pressure. She want to stick by her man through thick and thin but it is tough to deal with the baby momma drama, and not having enough money to pay the bills. All said, this story is about what people will do when they are in desperate times and their backs are against the wall.
Rating: Summary: Not adding to book collection Review: EDJ is an amazing modern author who had me hooked from the first book I read of his. I was in sort of a let down reading TP. My disappointment mainly came from the female characters in the book. The only positive female book was Big Slim's slain girlfriend. Sabrina, Pam, Sierra, and all the other females characters were immature. They relied on a man way too much. EJD is still an awesome author, but this book was not that great. Not everyone can hit a homerun everytime.
Rating: Summary: Not his best Review: I was very disappointed with this book. It was not something that I was use to from Mr. Dickey. I read it because I am a true fan, however it could have been better.
Rating: Summary: Honestly it wasn't that Great........... Review: I read this book during Hurrican Charley and it took me two days to read it if it wasn't for the weather and the black out I would of put this book down a long time ago. This wasn't his best and I was a bit bored with it to say the least I wouldn't recommend it at all espically to the EJD readers. It wasn't that entertaining to me.Dante was a low life, Pam needed to get a new career change, Jackson needed to get his life in order, and Scamz was just as bad as a person including his business that he runs. If I had to choice a likeable/interesting character I would of choosen Big Slim if you choose to read it. Still your fan EJD.
Rating: Summary: Great reading! Review: This is the first time I've read any of Dickey's books and I am now hooked on his writing. He is able to draw you into his characters and you forget that you are actually reading. His words float off of the page. I appreciate how he connects the chapters so that you are constantly involved and eager to move forward. Great, easy reading for your summer vacation.
Rating: Summary: A Thrilling Experience Review: I very much enjoyed the addition of thrill and suspense to this author's writings. It was a pleasant alternative. This writer is awesome at creating unpredictable twists and turns and did not fail in this novel. Awesome plot! For me, this was a definite pageturner.
