Summary: A wonderful story written by the best!
Review: When I read _Ransom_ last year, I also read that sneak peak in the back for _Heartbreaker_. I was just getting started reading romance, and I loved all things historical. When I saw that Julie Garwood's newest book would be a contemporary, I was a little dissapointed. I didn't want to give up my historical Scotland, my lairds, my ladys, and my lords. But, I soon read everything that Julie had written, and hungry for more of her work, I waited on pins and needles until _Heartbreaker_ was released this summer. I was once again engulfed in Julie's magical world, and I was sooo not dissapointed.

In the stiffling heat of the confessional, a man makes a startling confession to the preist, Tommy Madden. He asks the preist for absolution for a sin he has yet to commit. As the confession session progresses, the stranger tells Tommy of a murder he commited years before, and that he has chosen another woman to kill. He goes into detail about how his work was done. And then he tells Tommy his secret. He's going to kill Tommy's sister. He's a heartbreaker, and poor Laurant is next. Heartbreaker dares Tommy to get the FBI involved. He tells Tommy to bring in his best friend Nich Buchanen. He dares them to do their best to catch him... claiming that they never will.

Laurant is at first shocked and then angered by what is happening to her. All of her life, she's been away from her brother at boarding school, and now, when they finally get a chance to know each other, some psycho is threatening to take it away. Well, if you've ever read a Julie Garwood book before, you know that her heroines never, ever run away with their tails between their legs, and Laurant is no exception. She tells Nick (who ends up coming to help out with the case) that she wants to draw Heartbreaker out so they can catch him. Now, to do this, she and Nick will pretend to be in love. That will in turn, make Heartbreaker jealous and want to strike out at Laurant. Well, soon, the charade becomes all too real for Laurant and Nick, but what happens when the killer becomes enraged? Can they survive?

We caught a glimpse of it in _Come the Spring_. It grew in _Ransom_. Now, Julie Garwood's talent for suspense comes into full bloom with her newest book _Heartbreaker_. I can't even begin to tell you how involved I was in this book. I had forgotten how much I love Julie Garwood, but now, I'm going to go back a reread all of her books. Her talent is indrescibable. It really is. There is no way to tell you how wonderful her books are. Laurant and Nick came alive on the pages. I could see them in my mind. The town of Holy Oaks, Iowa was a wonderful setting. I loved the small town atmosphere that was painted so well. Although the question of who the Heartbreaker was was a little predictable, but hey, this is her first real suspense book. Although I did enjoy _Heartbreaker_, I do hope that Julie does go back into her historical setting. Why try to change a good thing?

Summary: Loved it!!!
Review: This new book of Julie Garwood is absolutely wonderful!! I enjoy contemporary/suspense/romance novels, and this one is a keeper!! I laughed out loud at certain parts and the plot kept me entertained. If Noah Claybourne doesn't have his own book, I'll be very disappointed. What a man!! It's a must see read.

Summary: Gripping plot with great characters
Review: Suspense is the first word that comes to mind to describe Julie Garwood's Heartbreaker. Without revealing the end, it was a complete surprise when I finally read who the murderer/stalker turned out to be. FBI agent Nick Buchanan as the hero is the perfect blend of humor, macho and sensitive...hard to believe. And Laurant as the intended victim is feisty, brave and frightened all at the same time. The romance that grows between Nick and Laurant is squeezed between the suspense and drama of catching a killer and has some very humorous moments. A riveting read, highly recommended.

Summary: Heartbreaker
Review: Julia Garwood is one of my favorite romance authors. I was a little nervous about reading a contemporary from her. But, it was great. I couldn't put it down. Her characters had so much personality. I loved how she named one of the charaters Noah Clayborne. Any relation? I enjoyed the twists and turns of the plot. When you think she's given the 'who dune it' away, just keep reading. I found Heartbreaker to be entertaining, with gripping suspense and twist and turns that were not predictable. I have shelled out the hardcover price on other books of this same type and was disappointed. This one didn't disappoint.

Summary: A change for Garwood
Review: I have two copies of all her Julie Garwoods books, this will be the first one that I do not get a second copy of, and if I had known ahead of time I would have waited for the paperback. The writing is good, her style aparent, however, I wanted to read a romance, not a thriller. Many romance authors seem to jump ship and leave readers who adored them behind. I hope that Ms. Garwood does not plan on this in the future, as she is my favorite author. The storyline is based on a seriel killer who is stalking a single woman, Laurant. He tells her brother, a priest, what he is doing. Laurants brother calls in his FBI friend, Nick, to protect his sister. Although there is an attraction between the two, there is not enough play in the book with it to become entranced. There is also a lot of time spent on the killers thoughts, more than I wanted to know... So, needless to say, I was disappointed, however, I am anxiously waiting,(fingers crossed) for her next book.

Summary: Fantastic
Review: This is my first Julie Garwood book. I am a great fan of Romantic Suspense. I found the book very good! I just could not put it down. I am really hoping that Ms. Garwood continues writing in this format. I would put her up their with my other two favorites Linda Howard and Heather Graham Pozzessere.

Summary: Dissapointing
Review: I usually love her books but this one left me dissapointed. Where was the spark between the hero and herione that you usually see in her books? Sorry but this one left no impression on me at all, usually after I read her books Im sad to say goodbye to the characters, this book though...I cant even remember the main characters names!

Summary: Where oh,Where did our Julie Garwood go?...
Review: Okay, I am probably the first person to try to sell someone on Julie Garwood, but this book was really disappointing. The last couple of books she has written make me think Julie wrote the first couple chapters and then handed it over to someone else to finish. Where is her style? Normally, when you finish one of her book you feel like you just took a deep breath and you just feel better about life. She really makes you believe that true love, respect and committment can still be found in marriage.

For this book, everything was very loose and you never really get a real romance between Nick and Laurent. The story line was unbelievable and just not her forte.

Julie...Please do us a big favor...We love you, go back and write the type of books that only you can write...About Love and Hope and the beleif that happily ever after can really exist.

Summary: Fantastic "Cross-Over"
Review: At first, I was a bit hesitant of this book, as Julie Garwood has always written historical romance. Accordingingly, as Ms Garwood crossed-over with her first contemporary book, I was very impressed. I felt this book was well worth purchasing in hard back.

The characters were very likeable and the heroes were fantastic.

I highly encourage Ms Garwood to continue with this vunue of writing, as well, as keeping a hearty supply of her historical, as well.

From a person who has read every Julie Garwood book, thank you for offering the great books and continue on with your wonderful work.
