It's suspensful and romantic. I couldn't put it down! I would definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for a good read!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Julie Garwood will always be Julie Garwood! Review: I was a little concerned when I heard that Julie Garwood wrote a "romantic suspense" book fearing that she was going the way of most wonderful writers... leaving Historical Romance for bigger bucks. I felt that her stories would lack the magic that brought to life such titles as The Secret and The Bride (both amazing books by the way)! But I should have realized that Julie Garwood will always be Julie Garwood and whether she is writing about medieval Scottish Highlanders or a present day FBI Agent, her magic will shine through!Nick Buchanan and Laurant Madden are an amazing couple in a tale as gripping as any movie I've seen. I was guessing until the last pages ... which shouldn't have surprised me, since after all we are talking about Julie Garwood ... and was dumbfounded by the outcome. If you love Julie Garwood and enjoy her stories don't be put off by the label of "romantic suspense". Remember she is still the same author that brought us The Secret, The Bride and Castles! With books like that, how can we go wrong!
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: This is the only book I've ever put down ! Review: I am a huge fan of Julie Garwood's writing...Ransom is one of my all time favorite books, as well as the books involving the Clayborne family. So, I was sadly disapponted in this book. I found it disturbing, upsetting and very difficult to read. While Ms. Garwood's books have always entertained and inspired me, this book was simply too dark for me to enjoy. I hope she will take us back to Scotland or to the Montana plains on her next book, as this one was simply not one I could feel comfortable reading.
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: Boring Review: As I was reading this book I kept thinking I had read it before. It was so similar to a lot of other murder mystery books. I did not find it unique or interesting in any way. I had to force myself to get through it. I absolutely loved her other books and have been reading them for a second time. Those other books were unique and I loved them, especially Ransom and The Bride. I was anxiously awaiting this new book but was thoroughly disappointed.
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: Entertaining, yet lacking Review: I enjoyed Heartbreaker, however, I did not feel it was in "Julie Garwood Style". I am a diehard fan of Ms. Garwood's. I own all of her books, and have read each one at least four times. I also read contemporary romance, however. My first love, though, is Ms. Garwood's historical romance. The one thing about her books that I have always loved is my ability to feel a part of the characters, that is why I am able to read them over and over again. My heart is with Jamie and Alec first and foremost, and I was hoping to feel the same about her new novel. I wasn't able to make the connection though. I thoroughly enjoy Ms. Garwood's style of writing, and was somewhat disappointed to read Heartbreaker because it reads very much like a Mary Higgins Clark novel. Not that that is an insult, she also happens to be one of my favorites. However, I read Garwood novels, and always eagerly await the next novel because she makes the reader feel a part of the story. I have cried over many of her novels. I just didn't feel that way with this novel. I truly feel that Ms. Garwood's forte is in the historical romance department. I not only enjoy reading her historical fiction, but I have picked up many historical facts from her books, which is like an added bonus. My hope is to see another novel, or two, in the line of Jamie and Alec! They are by far the best couple Ms. Garwood wrote about, and that book, The Bride (for those who are not as familiar), has been read more than 15 times and is looking a little worse for the wear. Sincerely, A devoted fan
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Truly a Garwood Fan Review: Heartbreaker was by far one of the best books I have ever read. The characters backgrounds keep you interested. This book had everything I look for in a book (intrigue, romance, great plot). This book is a must read for any Garwood, Nora Roberts, or Sandra Brown fan. Couldn't put it down.

Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Wonderful - Must Have in your Collection Review: This was Julie Garwood's first contemporary; I hope it's not her last. This book was a real can't put down, page-turner. Not only was the storyline fantastic, I really liked the characters. I wish she published more often.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: wonderful!!! Review: this is the first Julie Garwood book I have read, but it won't be my last! The plot was well defined and well written. Being catholic myself, I was thrilled at how 'normal' the character of Father Tommy was. This is only the third book I have bought in hardback. Couldn't wait for the paperback. This is a must read for all murder/romance book lovers.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Julie can move into the 21 century! Review: I was horrified when I read Ransom and saw the sneak peak at Heartbreaker in the back. I am so very much a fan of Julie Garwood's historical that I feared I couldn't make the move into the 21st century with her. BOY was I scared about nothing! This woman can write no matter what the era! I loved it! I couldn't put it down, read it in one night! If she wants to set the next one on Mars 2000 years in the furture FINE sign me up for an advance copy!
