Summary: Awesome!!!
Review: This is the first time I've read this author because I don't read historical romances. But once she ventured in to one of my favorite areas, romantic suspense, she hooked me. She did a wonderful job...this book is really good. I couldn't stop reading and did not want it to end. I love the bits of humor she interjected now and then. Her characters were so likable, with the exception of the killer of course. She did a good job of making him scary. My favorite was Nick. You could feel his strength and vulnerability at the same time. I would love to read a sequel. Maybe one centered around Noah, and give us an update on veryone from this novel. I'm sure if you are a fan of Ms Garwood, you will not be disappointed with this novel. If she continues to write contemporary romantic suspense, she has a fan in me. I highly recommend "Heartbreaker".

Summary: Good Reading
Review: This is Julie Garwood's first contemporary novel. For a first effort, it's pretty good! Doesn't have all the polish of most of her historical romances and the ending is a bit weak, but it kept me interested right to the end and I'm ready to read it again. Highly recommend it!

Summary: good but coulda been better
Review: I was really excited to read this book, and now that I have, I have to admit, it was a bit of a dull read. You don't really get to know any of the characters. Garwood uses a lot of words, but there is very little detail. Because of this, the novel proceeds extremely slowly. It goes a while into the story until the heroine, Laurant, finally appears. She is presented as being the typical female who has gotten used to hiding her feelings, but in this book she does it all too well. She shows very little emotion, even though she is the target of a madman, which results in this being very unbelievable. You're led to believe that Laurant is a strong, independent woman, but despite the many times that she says, "come and get me! i'm not scared!" she's extremely weak. She goes thru the entire book almost in a daze. Her house is burning down and she stops to pack!!!! She is just completely unbelievable as a woman in danger who is supposedly fighting back. As for Nick, at least you get a little bit of personality in him, not much, but more than Laurant. It was as if Garwood handed you the characters and expected you to fill them in. There was absolutely no connection between Nick and Laurant, no chemistry whatsoever. And I just had a hard time buying their "relationship." I find it hard to believe there was even like or lust involved. It was like, miraculously they decided they were right for each other! Where did that come from?? Anyways, Noah was cute. He was more entertaining than any of the main characters. But the novel moved way to slowly for a mystery novel and I found myself skipping over the pages to get to some action. At the end, I still had trouble figuring out who the "heartbreaker" was exactly.

Summary: "Heartbreaker" was wonderful!
Review: I love Julie Garwood's historical fiction, but I am beginning to place her contemporary work on the pedestal! "Heartbreaker" was wonderful! The plot was original and exciting, and I loved how the FBI and the Catholic Church got mixed up together. Father Tom Madden is so kind and loving, and Noah - Noah is a riot! I loved Noah. I thought it was a little ordinary that Laurant was so stunning, and I thought her name was too exotic for her character, and Nick was a little TOO perfect, but overall, it was extremely delightful to read :)

Summary: Wonderful Change of Pace
Review: I was slightly disappointed at Garwood's "For the Roses" series. However, I love so many of her other books I was anxious to see how she would design a contemporary hero/heroine dynamic. I was wonderfully surprised reading "Heartbreaker". The pace is quick, and kept me interested. I laughed out loud, cried, and really enjoyed the chemistry she created between the characters. Good Job!

Summary: An inept attempt to hurdle genre stereotyping
Review: Julie Garwood stocks her pathetic thriller with cardboard characters from past romance novels. She places her trademark larger-than-life hero and heroine in realistically horrifying circumstances and their thoughts and responses seem ludicrous in this venue. I was greatly disappointed. If you have ever read anything other than sentimental romance, and can compare this novel to other books of the genre, you will be disappointed as well. Julie Garwood should stick to what she does best.

Summary: The best one yet!
Review: I started to read this wonderful book on Wed. morning and found I couldn't put it down. I just had to finish it that day! I think this one is Ms. Garwood best yet. I always find her books intelligent and very hard to put down once you sart reading them.

Summary: A Good One!
Review: This is a great read. Moves along nicely and keeps you guessing, not predictable. A touch Jeffrey Deaver with more romance. You should try it!

Summary: A contemporary mystery/love story.
Review: It seemed as though it would be a typical mystery/love story, yet it took some turns that surprised me. I couldn't put this book down! I received this as a gift and once I started, I couldn't stop. It was one of the few books that made me sad because I was finished reading it.

Summary: First book by author
Review: i thought this book was excellent compared to the many other books that I have read. I must admit though, this was my first book by this author, and I will continue to read other works by her. It was suspenseful and kept you wondering. It seemd that it could happen. Overall it was a good book that read quickly.
