Summary: Heartbreaker won't break JG's fans' hearts....
Review: Julie Garwood's first contemporary chiller is a must read for any Garwood fan. Like many, I was sceptical and wondered if I would like this "new" type of book.

It's wonderful. Ms. Garwood stays true to her writing style with real life hero and heroine characters, along with her always perfect secondary characters. The suspense and tension is believable and scary, but there's humor, too. Nick's reactions when Laurent agrees with him after he tries to explain to her that she couldn't possibly love him, that it's just the situation they're in is hilarious - "Of course you don't love me.....what do you mean, you don't love me?". Vintage Garwood bantering and I just put the book down and laughed.

I also know I'm not alone in falling for Father Tom and Noah Clayborne (yes, Clayborne) and am hoping (demanding?) that Noah get his own book as soon as possible.

It's been rumored that each of the so-called FBI "Apostles", Noah among them, will be getting their own books, but for now, one of Nick's brothers is the next to get his own book. Theo? Please, please let Noah be next.

Anyway, run, do not walk to your bookstore / internet site to get this book. You WON'T be disappointed.

Summary: Best Julie Garwood book yet.
Review: This book is a must read. I love the characters, they're very real. I was a bit worried when I heard that Julie Garwood was doing a modern story, but I bought the book anyway. I'm glad I did. This is my new favorite Julie Garwood story. You have to read it for yourself.

Summary: Mesmerizing
Review: This Julie Garwood book is even better than her previous novels. She kept me riveted to the pages from the very beginning! Not only does she write a wonderful romance novel, she also incorporated an awesome mystery! This book is a "must read" for all romance and mystery lovers. She's managed to write something that will entertain while also taxing the mind!

Summary: Not your typical Julie Garwood...
Review: ...but still very entertaining. Ms. Garwood breaks free of her historical romance background to write a modern day mystery/romance. It definitately kept me guessing who the killer was until he/she was finally revealed. As much as I liked the book though, it wasn't as magical as her previous novels.

Summary: Enjoyable
Review: I really enjoyed this book. The character development of Nick and Laurent was great and the secondary characters added that certain something that separates the good from the bad. Too bad her brother was a priest because he would have been the ideal choice for the main character in a second book. As a matter of fact I would love to read a sequel. This book had suspense, romance, and nice people with everyday flaws, like Nick with his fear of flying. Overall, this book was a joy to read.

Summary: A Real Heartbreaker
Review: I bought this book believing that it would be another sure thing by Julie Garwood. It was a sad disappointment. I'm not sure exactly what happened with character development, but I didn't feel that I knew these characters until more than half of the book was done. I normally read this author's books in one sitting. I found myself putting this one down again and again. I'm looking forward to the next one, but probably will wait for the paperback.

Summary: Excellent debut into the contemporary-suspense genre!
Review: "Heartbreaker" lives up to the hype and anticipation surrounding its release. The murderer, or "heartbreaker", in her novel taunts a priest (Father Tom) by not only "confessing" his past sins, but by also revealing his future sin, which includes the demise of Father Tom's own sister, Laurant Madden. Father Tom enlists the help of his best friend, Nick Buchanan, who is an agent in one of the FBI's most elite units. A small town girl at heart, Laurant is angered and distressed by the threat that has entered her life and shattered her sense of security. At her brother's insistance, Laurant entrusts her safety to Nick and, along with the aide of Nick's FBI collegues, races to catch the psycopath. Given the nature of their highly stressful situation, the attraction between Laurant and Nick is intense and undeniable. In spite of, or perhaps due to, all of the action and suspense surrounding them, Laurant and Nick learn to take more chances in their lives and in each other's love.

It was obvious that Ms. Garwood devoted a considerable amount of time researching facts re: the FBI and their proceedures, and it served her well in her novel. Unlike some who-dun-it books, where the villian was obvious right up front, she kept me guessing right up until the moment the murderer did reveal himself. All of Ms. Garwood's characters were well, and fully developed, including her secondary characters who also added wit and humor. Her use of wit in some of her dialogues between characters had me chuckling uncontrollably in some parts of the book. I've always found her ability to incorporate such great wit into the thoughts and dialogues of her characters in all of her novels(especially "Ransom" and "Saving Grace") one of her greatests assests as a storyteller. Although her main characters are strong and intelligent individuals, Ms. Garwood also made them more realistic and life-like by revealing their vulnerablities without making them maudlin.

Granted, this contemporary-suspense-romance novel, is not as edgy as Linda Howard's novels (whom I also adore and recommend, especially "All the Queen's Men"), but I felt it was a great debut into the genre by an author who has never failed me in her previous historical romances. I hope she continues to share her talents well into the future with more romance novels, both historical and contemporary. If you happen to read this Ms. Garwood, thanks again for a great read!

Summary: I know it will be wonderful!
Review: As an avid Julie Garwood fan, I already know this book will be great. From what I have gathered so far about the book, it seems that her characters will have their usual "quirkiness" and will actually be people that one can relate to. I also wonder if the Buchanans that raise Tom are any relation to Brodick Buchanan, from "The Secret" and "Ransom." Just a thought.

Summary: New Subject, Same Julie
Review: Julie Garwood might have moved into the latest craze of romantic suspense novels but the quality stays the same. Heartbreaker shows the style and sensitivity which are Garwood trade marks. If you like the latest Catherine Coulter books you'll love Julie's newest offering. I highly recommend it. I made the mistake of starting this book during lunch at work and it consumed my thoughts for the rest of the day.

Summary: Different but still Julie Garwood
Review: Julie Garwood has taken a step into the latest craze for romance readers, the romantic suspense novel. But as with all things Julie does it with style and grace. Fans of her historical romances will not be disappointed in this attempt. I also recognized a surname in here as well. There are several character's in which she can branch into new stories. I can't wait. A definate worth while read.
