Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: Good, but doesn't work Review: I am not too familiar with Julie Garwood, and have only read 2 or 3 of her historicals. I was quite intrigued with the idea of this story, and rushed to read it.I was slightly disappointed in the story, as I have read it many times before. This is often the case, though, as there are only so many plots! The reason I gave this a 3 star rating is that I felt that the plot, characters and writing style didn't quite click. The heroine, Laurent, was very flat when she could have been fascinating. She had grown up alone, overseas and independent, yet she comes across as a naive and small town sterotype. Nick could have been far more appealing, but he is aggressive and pushy and also a sterotype of the FBI AGENT IN CHARGE. This is a good read, but I recommend that you get it from the library, or wait for the paperback.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: heartbreaker Review: Garwood has done it again! She is proving once again why she's the queen of romance. This book has enough twists and turns as well as suspense to keep you turning pages from cover to cover until before you know it you are done! The caracters are so real you can almost smell the perfumes, and feel the breeze from the wind. A definate must read!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Heartbreaker Review: To much anticipation Garwoods Heartbreaker was a great read. I loved all of her historical romances and really did not know what to expect from this novel. But, to my delight it was enjoyable. So for everyone that does not read comtemporary novels...this is a great start.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Good, but not her usual style Review: First of all, let me say that I liked the book. I just didn't LOVE it, as I have all her other books. I've re-read them all, and will again, but I'd be surprised if I re-read Heartbreaker. I missed the humor that permeates her other books -- I've been know to laugh out loud at times. While reading Heartbreaker, I chuckled once or twice, but that was it. And while her other books have had "bad guys," they were secondary to the plot-line, and usually the impetus for the two characters to admit their love. In Heartbreaker, the danger is on almost every page, and colors almost every scene. This, in turn, limits her secondary characters -- they aren't as vivid or interesting because they are needed to move the serial murder plot-line along. Again, I liked it, but if you read Julie Garwood for 1) her humor, or 2) a light-hearted love story, think twice about buying this. Get it from the library.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Not all I Hoped It Would Be Review: I've been a Julie Garwood fan since I first read "The Bride". I have read many of the stories multiple times, and was really looking forward to her first contemporary. The story line was outstanding for a mystery. It kept me turning pages, but I really missed her sense of humor, and I really didn't feel as though I knew her characters very well. I did love Noah, and hope to see him down the line. Worth reading but not my favorite Garwood.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Heartbreaker Review: Once again Julie has out done herself. Heartbreaker is a page turner. I have truly enjoyed every book she has written. This book however, brings her into a new and exciting category of thrilling suspense and sizzling romance with her characters and situations coming to life and entertaining the reader. Ms Garwood has proven, once again, to be one of the best romance authors and storytellers. Unlike other authors, Julie does not waste time with the main characters at odds or fighting with each other. Her herons are smart, bold and morally strong. I never fail to fall in love with the leading men and miss them until her next. I recommend this book, as well as all of Julie's. Nora Roberts readers should not miss reading all Julie Garwood's books. Keep up the good work. Anxiously awaiting your next book.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: MY FAVORITE AUTHOR DOES IT AGAIN! Review: Heartbreaker is a smash! I have read every book she has written and this lady can really lay it down! Although this is her first contemporary romance/thriller, she didn't miss a beat! I took this book on vacation and could not put it down. Ms. Garwood kept you guessing until the end. All the charactors where real, down to earth and true to life. Garwood's Laurent had guts necessary to stand up for herself. Of course, I love all her books! I can only say that about very few authors.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Perfect blend of romance and suspense! Review: I just finished reading Heartbreaker. What a page-turner! This is the first book I have read by Julie Garwood, as I am not a fan of historical romance. She is great in romantic suspense! The characters were interesting and believable. The plot was interesting and intense. I am pretty good at figuring out who the bad guy is, but this one kept me guessing right up until it was being revealed. I hope Ms. Garwood intends to write Noah's story, as well as introduce us to more of the 12 apostles. Great book!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: CAPTIVATING Review: Excellent book. Surprised me as Garwood is unusually a romance/historical writer. Very believable characters esp. the small town theme with the neighbors knowing all. I loved the way the plot developed definitely not giving away anything until the end. Could not solve this one. Loved the secondary characters. Great way to spend a day with a good book. Hated to see it end.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Heartbreaker was no heartbreaker! Review: I thought this book was quite good. It kept me on the edge of my seat. I got interested in reading it when I read a part from it in a magazine on the way back from a trip. It made me want to read the whole thing. I give it a thumbs up. It was totally awesome. Great Job!
