Review: After having read and loved every book Julie Garwood has written, I didn't hesitate a second to order this new book. I ripped open the box and sat down to enjoy another one of her wonderful romance novels only to be hit in the first chapter with a story line about a serial killer. There's enough violence in the world; I don't want to read it for enjoyment. So I put the book down. Then I went back on line to read the reviews and found that most were really good about Heartbreaker so I picked it up again. The romance that is in it is good, but the violence wasn't worth it to me. I hope Julie Garwood will go back to romance novels like the all time great "For the Roses." Just my opinion . . .

I have been a fan of Julie Garwood's for a long while and have always enjoyed her historical romances, but "Heartbreaker" is going straight to the top of my favorites list. I, too, hope that Noah will get his own story. If you like witty dialogue, suspense and romance, you'll definitely enjoy this book.

Nick is not only tough but caring and does his job great.Nick and Laurant overcome his fear of loving; and then WOW. Could have had more WOW. The plot is wonderful and I hated to leave Nick and Laurant.Great insight into how hard it would be to have to protect someone constantly from danger. I couldn't put the book down.As usual Julie Garwood's books are super. I have them all.

I don't know how well Ms. Garwood researches material for her novels but one inviolable fact that most Christians, specially Catholics, know is that what a priest hears in confession is NEVER repeated, NO MATTER WHAT. I'm sure somewhere, sometime, a priest has broken a confessional vow but most probably under very extreme circumstances and would probably involve permission from very high ranking church officials, if allowed at all. I cannot conceive of a priest running and telling a best friend what someone has confessed even if that would allegedly endanger a life. A reader in Connecticut who did read the book and critiqued it, is also critical of the actions of the FBI agents. I will borrow this book from the library mainly to see how and if she justifies the priest's actions.

I have read every one of her books and have loved all of them, so when I heard about this book I have to say I was very skeptical. Being the average human being I hate change.............but to my wonderful surprise I truly enjoyed Heartbreaker!!! Ms. Garwood did it again. She captured me and kept me going! I did not want this book to end! I hope there are more stories coming in the future! Ms. Garwood keep up the good work!!!!!!

Julie Garwood portrayed a realistic situation and took it to another level! I started to read this book and just could not put it down! This is by far one of the best she has EVER written!!
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: Not too bad for first comtemporary novel. Review: For Julie Garwood's first comtemporary novel, this is not too bad. I will definately give her her props for taking that step for change. I'm sure with a little more confidence, J.G.'s natural ability for writing very good books will be more profound in the following comtemporary books to come. (I do enjoy the historical novels the best.) I did notice a similarity to John Sanford's character, Lucas Davenport in the Prey series, to that of Nick. (For those readers who are not familiar with the lead character, Lucas Davenport, in the Prey Series, Nick's "terrified of flying" behaviors mirrored that of Lucas Davenport). I adore reading Julie Garwood and can't wait for her books to be published. Although this book is not up-to-par with her earlier releases, I don't think J.G. derserves a hard slam for her attempt in trying something new. Julie, keep of the good work.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Garwood takes the high road and travels it with flash & dash Review: What? Julie Garwood's "Heartbreaker" is a contemporary romance/mystery? My words when I discovered my favorite writer was stepping out of the mold I associated with her of dark, brooding Earls and fair, fancy Ladies! My next sentence was a half-hearted....."Okay, I'll lay down my money and give it a shot". Thank goodness I did or I'd have missed out on my favorite Garwood book to date! Her characters, Nick and Laurant jump at your from the pages...and fill your imagination with fanciful thoughts of actually knowing them along with Laurant's brother, Father Tom and the exciting Noah Clayborne (please let there be a book on Noah...please, please, please?). Oh, did I mention the psycho that has designs on Larant....as his next victim? The plot is so intricatly woven by Garwood you'll drive yourself nuts trying to figure out who the "Heartbreaker" is. Great read! Can't wait for her next book....I'm betting it's a sequel to this one.

Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: A GREAT SUCCESS!! Review: All of us have watched our favourites (Judith McNaught, Sandra Brown, Linda Howard, Mary Jo Putney, etc.) move into the realm of contemporary suspense and fail miserably in the attempt. I am happy to report, contrary to the dismal statistics, Julie Garwood emerges Victorious!! She has succeeded admirably with her new book Heartbreaker. So many wonderful "Julie-isms" are still to be found here. Take this for example:"Tommy heard all the commotion and came running, Noah hot on his trail. As soon as Nick had told her brother what she'd done, Tommy joined in the shouting match, but she held her own and stood up to them. Pete and Noah came to her assistance, flanking her sides like protective guardians." How many times haven't we seen Julie's heroines walk through a castle bailey boxed in by her protective knights? All of Garwood's familiar, loved elements are here. Laurant and Nick, the main characters have lots of sizzle; the plot is very exciting and the action swift. The ending is left wide open for Noah's story, the other hunky FBI agent. So, as far as I'm concerned, her next novel can be historical or contemporary - I think we can trust Julie to DO IT RIGHT!
