Summary: page-turning until the end!
Review: Based on the back cover, Laurel has the gift of "sight" (premonitions), passed down from generations on her mother's side of the story. If you have an open mind for believing in what could happen, you will enjoy this book. I was engrossed until the very end.

One of my favorite traits of Dinah McCall's writing is that there's more to the plot than "boy gets girl." Her books aren't the same old question of whether the main male character will get together with the main female character - they have more substance than that. The subplot regarding the history surrounding Mimosa Grove (the name of the estate her grandmother passed down to Laurel) was magical, sad, and comforting (that everything is connected) all rolled into one. The primary plot was mystical, suspenseful and beautiful.

The book was so well-written that it left me wanting to believe that this could happen in real life. If you're looking for a little magic and romance, you will definitely enjoy this book!

Summary: Love Before First Sight!!!
Review: Dinah McCall AKA Sharon Sala has penned another page turning romance that incorporates a little psychic ability, a little good old fashion southern superstition and wonderful characters. This is billed as a romantic suspense but the suspense level is low and you are aware of the "bad guy" is from the beginning. It's more of a secondary storyline that Ms. McCall builds the romance on. Secondary characters are important to the storyline but not difficult to keep track of .

Although she is aware of her "gift" Laurel Scanlon is equally aware that her father finds it to be unbelievably annoying not to mention embarrassing that she continues to acknowledge what he find to be a disability. It was a gift she has inherited from her mother and one that has been passed down from generation to generation. Mimosa Grove is where Laurel goes to find peace. This beautiful haunting place is where her mother grew up and it was left to her when her grandmother died. On top of all of her other problems with her high profile father she has fallen in love with a mystery lover that only visits her in her dreams. She thinks that getting a fresh start in Bayou Jean Louisiana is the answer. Once she arrives she finds more then she ever thought she would. She finds love and acceptance and a ghost that wants to rest in peace. And if that's not enough one of her father's cases is about to pull Laurel into the center where her death is almost certain.

Justine Bouvier has been having the most erotic dreams of his life and he thinks he's loosing it since he has not been able to shake the feelings he has for his mystery lover. Then his dream visitor stops coming to him but he finds her where he least expects it in the flesh there in Bayou Jean. She is going to be instrumental in helping the local police find his missing niece. When they lay eyes on each other for the first time they both realize at the same moment that they have known each other in the most intimate of ways and that they are tied to each other. Now they can't imagine life without the other and Justine is very accepting of Laurel just as she is and together she faces her ancestors past as well as their uncertain future.

Mimosa Grove is a fast paced read and one that makes a great companion for a day at the beach. Ms McCall is a very talented author and one that I highly recommend.

Summary: Don't Waste Your Money Or Time!
Review: I am usually a big fan of books by Dinah McCall (aka Sharon Sala), but this time, I was very disappointed. The story was very weak and I did not find the romance between Laurel and Justin believable. I mean, they have sex seconds after meeting each. How believable is that? I wish McCall would have spent more time developing their relationship and not have them jump into bed right away. Overall, the book was a big bomb and a waste of money and time. Don't bother!

Summary: Pleasantly surprised
Review: I bought this book a while back, but kept putting it off. I thought it would be another run of the mill romance, but I was pleasantly surprised. The heroine, while prone to a little too much demuring, was actually more likeable in my eyes than the average heroine. The plot was interesting and kept me involved, and I was actually surprised by the ending, a rarety. Justin is a likeable hero, a change from the usual run of the mill stoic silent alpha male. The locale is also presented in a likeable way. Even with the colloqialisms in the dialogue, none of the bayou people sounded stupid or illiterate, merely the simply, humble people they are. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants something a little more than the average romance.

Summary: Romance from the paranormal
Review: I liked this book even with the lack of high octane suspense. The romance was definitely different as the two main characters dream about one another without ever meeting for months. As far fetched as it seems. The story and the characters really stayed with me. I just finished reading Lisa Jackson's The Morning After where women are being buried alive in open graves and thought how nice it would have been to have a person that had the gift of sight like the heroine in Mimosa Grove to help catch a serial killer. Throughout that book, I couldn't get my mind off of Mimosa Grove. If the thought of psychic abilities intrigues you in the slightest, you will love this book. Just know that it truly is a romance novel with a paranormal theme.

Summary: Pleaseeeeeee...
Review: I really tried to like this book. Don't know how many times I put it down and picked it back up because I was hoping that it would get better. Usually love this author but this book was...for a lack of a better word..."DUMB" with a capital D!
Can't believe the reviews that say "thrilling"...Pleaseeeee!

Summary: Didn't Like It
Review: I wish I had read the reviews before I bought this book. I didn't know it was about the paranormal. It was well written (that's why I gave it two stars) but I'm just not into ghosts, ESP, etc. and the love affair was just to unbelievable even if it had been a normal romantic suspense book.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: exciting romance with a little ESP included
Review: If you like a little of the paranormal in a good romance, this one's for you! The sight isn't a pleasant gift to Laurel, it's a curse. However, to us it is a delight. I usually dislike the way some characters complain about having a gift like this. If I had it, I hope I would use it for good. Our heroine finally realizes this, and with the help, and love of Justin,(who was a slave and knew Laurel in a previous life) she finds love, caring people, and a Place to call home. With good plotting, very well defined characters and an exciting adventure, Sharon Sala (Dinah McCall) has given us an interesting, entertaining way to spend an afternoon. I read to be entertained and I was well pleased. You will be too.

Summary: romance mystery
Review: it was a great book and since everyone else has said what its about i've got a question. since justine was joshua in another life and had married marie's ancestor wouldn't it mean he was destined to be with that woman? isnt that woman in this life marie? why did he end up with chantelles ancestor? i truly believed that justine and laurel were meant to be, you could tell they really loved eachother. and the dreams they had were never explained, about how they happened.

Summary: Fantastic tale
Review: Laurel Scanlon has inherited the curse of sight, a maddening skill passed through matriarchal lines to the next generation's eldest female. Her father refuses to believe in this paranormal skill so the so-called gift sent her mother off the deep end as he really was not there for her or for that matter Laurel. To keep herself sane, Laurel avoids love, as she fears the outcome.

Laurel inherits from her maternal grandmother Mimosa Grove, an aging estate near Bayou Jean, Louisiana. Seeing Mimosa Grove as a place to escape from the world, Laurel moves to the isolated somewhat run down estate. However, she fails to find peace here as she senses the tragic past, but fears her present and future more. The townsfolk know the skills of a female Scanlon especially when Laurel finds a missing child using her gift. However, Laurel is shook to her core when she realizes that the child's uncle Justin Bouvier is her soul mate at least in her dreams if she dares to reach out for love even as someone stalks her with obviously bad intentions in mind for her.

This exciting paranormal romantic suspense stars a terrific lead protagonist who struggles between desire and fear of love. The story line is loaded with non-stop action, in some ways too much as the plot meanders with unnecessary twists. Because most of the audience fails to share Laurel's gift, fans will remain visiting MIMOSA GROVE until the end to see who stalks the heroine and whether Justin can overcome her relationship phobia.
