Summary: It's just scary enough to be fantastic!!!
Review: This book will draw you in,scare you, make you laugh, make you cry and still make you want to throw a few blows at the bad gy. At times you wanted to slap some sense in J.T. but then he'd do something so totally human that you'd forgive him. He just needed someone to believe in him and love him enough to get through to him. In the end all it took was the love of a special woman to get through the entire ordeal.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Outstanding thriller for readers from teen to adult
Review: I am 46 years old, and my oldest daughter is 17. We both thought this was a superb first effort for this writer. The book kept us both on the edge of our seats with numerous plot twists and extremely well developed and interesting characters. You got to where you really cared about what happened to them.

Summary: Ms. Gardner is brilliant! I can't wait to read her next one
Review: I could not put this book down until I finished it! The author pulls you in and you actually touch the characters emotionally. Love, hate, sadness, compassion, fear, excitement. It's all there. This is truly a great book.

Summary: An enjoyable read.
Review: The story is exciting, but not without faults and flaws. While the antagonist is well depicted, the protagonists' characters lack a certain believability. The idea of a traumatized and abusive childhood is overplayed and the emotions are a little maladramatic. However, the story is still captivating and well worth leisurely reading.

Summary: So good it's scary. So scary its magnificent!
Review: This is a must read for suspense lovers, or book lovers anywhere. Perfect Husband is so well done it makes my skin crawly, makes thunder in my chest, and makes my heart ache for her characters. A superb read! Lisa outdid herself with this one.

Summary: Don't open your closet door without backup!
Review: Tess is an appealing heroine with vulnerabilities that make the reader pull for her. Jim Beckett has to be the scariest villain in a long, long time. J.T., the "burn out" ex-marine also elicits some sympathy, and I wanted very much for Tess to conquer her terrifying demons and save her daugher and herself from a truly horrifying death. However, there were elements of "bodice ripper" in the book that turned me off; i.e., J.T. wants to grab Tess and throw her against the wall and overpower her, and she's frantic with hunger for him to do just that, despite her used, abused and put-away-wet background with men up to this point. J.T. also goes around unclad a little too much, flaunting his glutes (and more) in front of this vulnerable person. What does he hope to accomplish except to be obnoxious, which again detracts from my liking him. This made me uncomfortable, and detracted from the story for me. (I'm a mystery reader rather than a real romance fan). I would have much preferred to see the author go more mainstream, and also I was disappointed that J.T., touted to be such a destroyer, made an elemental mistake when he and Tess go into the house from where her daugher was kidnapped... he doesn't even check the house fully before leaving Tess alone. Made me wonder if she made a mistake in choosing a tequila-soaked rescuer. However, despite this, I wanted to see how it all came out. Lisa Gardner can obviously spin a great tale and will gain more new fans with each new book.

Summary: I couldn't put it down
Review: I loved this book! I read it in 2 days. In response to JillRief@aol.com, if this was made into a movie, Alec Baldwin would be perfect as Jim, but I think Sam Elliot would be perfect as J.T. Can't wait for her next book "The Other Daughter."

Summary: Great book! Best new author since I discovered Tami Hoag!
Review: I picked up Perfect Husband by accident. I did not read it for a few weeks, as I had several other books that I wanted to read first. After running out of books to read, I sat down with this one. I did not put it down til I finished it! It was great! Now I have to add Lisa Gardner to my list of authors that I watch very closely, i.e. Tami Hoag, Iris Johansen, Bethany Campbell, Eve K. Sandstrom, Linda Crockett Gray, Linda Howard, etc. Hey! you guys out there...any more good authors like L.G. that have caught your interest? I am so lucky to find L.G. and I would love to find another surprise author. By the way, Lisa Gardner, hope that new book comes out soon--I can't wait!!!!

Summary: Absolutely enthralling!
Review: If there were a ten-plus, this book would more than deserve it! The action and suspense were riveting, but, more than that, the author's subtle weaving of so many layers rich in texture was brillant! I never felt lost nor bored with so many stories being told at once. All the stories were an intregal part of the whole. The focus was always there and the author made it all look so effortless and easy. This, to me, is the sign of a truly great writer. I was amazed at how Gardner could take a word, a sentence, an idea and by a turn of a phrase it would not only grab you, but, was new and fresh. This woman is an amazing talent and I look forward to her works in the future. A real page-turner
