Summary: A REAL PAGE-TURNER!!
Review: Tess fell in love with police officer Jim Beckett when she was a 17 year old high school cheerleader.....three years after their marriage, she helped put him behind bars for brutally murdering over ten women!! Not wanting to spend the rest of her life running in fear with her daughter, she decides to take matters in her own hands and hires an ex-marine, JT, to teach her how to defend herself and use a gun.....you see, Jim has escaped the maximum security prison and Tess knows he'll eventually find her!! This was much grittier than her other great book, The Other Daughter, therefore it's not for everyone....I skipped over a few paragraphs that I found to be too violent for me....however, the author did an outstanding job at keeping us on the edge of our seats..........I was holding my breath towards the end of the book!! Don't read it at night......!!

Summary: KEEP THE LIGHTS ON & THE CLOSET DOOR LOCKED!
Review: I gave this book 5 stars because it was one of the most intriguing books I have ever read. From the beginning it will attack your senses with it graphic descriptions. There are times in the story that you can almost feel what the characters are feeling, the writing is that good. This story is not for the weak at heart because of its graphic portrayals. My heart went out to Tess, because she was such an innocent placed in a terrible situation. J.T. the hero in the book seems unapproachable at times until you learn his history. God forbid that men like Jim Beckett actually exists. The man bred evil and I found myself looking over my shoulder even as I was reading. This book is a keeper, but not for everyone. If you truly like suspense and mystery you can not go wrong with this book. Congratulations Ms. Gardner for a book that should be on the bestseller list. Also read 'THE OTHER DAUGHTER' by Lisa Gardner. I look forward to reading her next book.

Review: I've read several books by Lisa Gardner. This one I will not finish. It is not in the same caliber with her other books. Umfortunately, I do not recommend this one.

Summary: A Chilling Read!!!
Review: I must say that this was a rather chilling read that grabbed me from the first page and kept me glued to the book until the final page. I realize that this was one of Ms. Gardner's first book so it was fun to see how far she's come since she started writing her chilling stories.

Tess married what she thought was the man of her dreams, her "knight" that was going to take her away from her abusive father and shower her with love and affection. What she did was step out of frying pan and into the fire.

Jim Beckett is not what he seems. On the outside he is a good cop, handsome, and nice. On the inside he is a monster patiently waiting until he can be unleashed.

Tess soon realizes that her fairy tale marriage is a nightmare. She is married to a serial killer and she finally takes control of her life and turns him in. As he is being taken away he promises that he will come back and killer her. Two years later Tess is living her life with her four year old daughter and then her husband escapes from jail and forces her to make the hard decision of leaving her daughter at a safe house alone and going to Arizona in order to higher a mercenary so he can teach her how to take care of herself.

J.T. has his own ghost that he is trying to live with and not very well. The last thing he needs is to see a fragile woman standing in front of him asking for his help. Despite trying to send her away he agrees to help her and by doing so not only finds the women that will heal his heart but also give this women the one thing that no one ever has and that is faith in herself. Together they hunt down a killer in order for Tess to get her life back on track. She will do anything even if it means killing the monster herself.

This was a fast paced read with more then enough suspense to keep you turning the pages. Ms. Gardner has the unique abilty to craft a well organized story and realistic characters. This is a chilling story about one of the scariest villian I've ever read.

Summary: A thrilling, haunting read ...
Review: With Halloween just around the corner, I have to say this is the perfect spooky novel to read during a nighttime thunderstorm! I did do that ~~ read while waiting for my fiance to get home from work ~~ and every creak and moan in the house seems to house Jim Beckett waiting to kill me! Regardless of the hauntings, I still couldn't put this book down. This is my first Lisa Gardner novel and she does have me hooked now!!

Jim Beckett is the husband every woman dreams of having ~~ or so Tess thought. When she turned him in for being a serial killer, Tess takes her daughter Sam and run. Only, Beckett finds her and leads the reader on a merry chase through gruesome murders and mind games. It is a bold novel ~~ and one that will keep you up all night just to finish it. Then it's also one that will keep you up all night listening to every creak and moan in the house. It also explores the mindset of a killer and why he married Tess ~~ and why he chases after her after getting out of prison. It's a terrifying look inside an abuser's mind.

If you're brave enough to read this, I dare you to. If you haven't read Lisa Gardner before, I highly recommend you reading this author. She is talented and will ensare you with her stories. It's a great spooky read and a perfect gift for that Halloween lover in you!

Review: This book was so full of suspense that I had a hard time putting it down. This was my first Lisa Gardner book and I already have THE OTHER DAUGHTER lined up to read next.

I noticed one editing error - J.T. called her Tess (on page 131) before he was even told what her real name was. It's those kind of little errors that drive me nuts.

Summary: Lock your doors, and stay away from closets!
Review: Jim Beckett is far from the title, "The Perfect Husband." He had been the exact opposite since the day after their honeymoon. After burning Theresa's wedding gown, two days after their honeymoon, she knew that something was wrong with him. She didn't get out of the marriage however, that was her first mistake. Now, years after he beat her almost to death, and two years in prison, he's out and seeking his revenge on Theresa and those who put him in prison. He didn't only beat his wife, but raped and brudally murdered several people; several blonde women. Theresa was horrified with what he had done and turned him in. Even the prison couldn't hold Jim because he's out and ready for a dead body in his hands; his former wife's body. Theresa wants to protect the life of her daughter as well as herself. She seeks out J.T. Dillon, a former marine and a retired mercenary, to train her into a fighting and killing machine so that she may have a fighting chance with her husband. Lisa Gardner has another great book. Full of suspense, horror, and terror, this book will force you to beg for your life along with Theresa in her fight against her "perfect husband."

Summary: Great read... Highly recommend!!
Review: I have to say I was a little skeptical when I first started this book, but having finished it only a few days ago, it was one of the best books I ever read. The Perfect Husband is the perfect package of mystery, love, sex and suspense.

I would have given it 5 stars but I did feel that the lives of Jim and Tess & Tess's relationship with J.T. should have not conflicted so much with J.T's relationship with Marion, even though it was necessary for the book.

It is very worth the money and I will probably tackle it again in a few months.

I was also eager to see the film version of the book, which is called Instinct to Kill. DON'T, it was soooo bad and didnt resemble the book at all, except the basic plot. The characters were very different and I found myself yelling at the TV screen the entire time. Didnt do it justice at all.

Summary: Lisa G. or Harold R.
Review: I thought this was supposed to be a mystery, not porn. This was one of the most disappointing books I have read in a long time. I have read one other Lisa Gardner book and rather enjoyed it, but this was not a good one. The ending, I must admit, was tension filled but predictable. Where is Jeffrey Deaver when you need him?

Summary: Great Read
Review: I'm still not quite done, but it has kept me real interested! The beggining was kind of confusing, but I soon caught on. I just learned today that they made this book into a movie, called Instinct to Kill. So all of you who were wondering if they actually did make this into a movie, well, they did.
One of the things I didn't like, was when Lisa protrayed Tess's character ugly in the beggining, I wanted J.T. to be attracted to her right off the bat, but, beggers can't be choosers, at least i think that's how the saying goes!
